Lake Jipe Resort is situated near to the beautiful Lake Jipe (not quite walking distance). We were met by their friendly staff with a cold juice which was much appreciated after a long journey! The room was basic but the bed was outstanding- very spacious and comfortable. There are lots of nice seating areas and the swimming pool is well kept and clean. The staff are accommodating and happy to organise boat trips on the lake and game drives etc. It is worth noting that on the game drive they organised for us through the wild and rugged Tsavo we did encounter some problems with the vehicle. On the whole they dealt with the situation well.
We took the drive through the southern part of Tsavo national park. Lots of animals. Untouched territory. Camping at Lake Jipe was an amazing experience and watching the Hippos coming out at night at the lake.
Please be very careful about staying here Overcharges and poor communication will cost you money. Be prepared to be overcharged and underwhelmed! Overall place is clean and well maintained. I honestly was going to give 4 stars and then manager overcharged us significantly. Van for transportation is in terrible shape. No air conditioning. Slow and seats worn out. Location is very good Again. Get everything in writing. Ask about hidden charges You think you might save money here but remember. You get what you pay for. Van ride from camp to Mombasa suppose to be 4.5 hours turned into a 6 hour plus nightmare. Driver was great but van so slow.
Best reached through the park. The journey from outside the park is along a very poor road for at least an hour. The location is right outside the park, not on the lake but not so far away. The rooms are basic and clean. There was no choice for dinner at all but more lunch time options. Breakfast was basic but ok. I think, though, for some $80 per night this place is under delivering. generator off at midnight and the rooms are very hot without the fan. Payment was a challenge as neither cards nor Mpesa worked. bring cash. The surrounding area is beautiful and there is a lot of wildlife just inside the park. The area is crying out for a decent hotel. Unfortunately, this does not really work. Oh, no internet either.
we stayed at lake jipe safari camp for two nights with our two years old son and we enjoyed the maasai cultural dance and stories while at the bornfire..and during our stay we saw elephants swimming at the lake and it was awesome....the lady Peris made our stay enjoyable and i would definately go back again
