Me and my partner stayed 7 nights from Friday 24th March in suite 2043 and had a wonderful stay.

The Hilton is located at what we would say is on the best section of the best beach on the island with the hotel offering a great designed pool area with loads of very comfortable sunbeds and the area is surrounded by lovely gardens and the town of Santa Maria is only a 10min walk away.

Don’t listen to Howards C comments about the pool area as there is nothing wrong with the design and better to have a large pool than a small cramped one, the water is also not freezing cold, maybe at certain times of the year it can be a lot cooler due to more cold weather but last week it was just lovely to swim in and was more warm than the sea.

We spent our days by the beach and again there was ample beds to cover all the guests, it was just bliss on the beach every day and the water was lovely to swim in.

Our suite 2043 was 73sqm in size and having such space was great but we felt there were a few things missing as we have stayed in many higher end hotels and it was odd not to have any information in the hotel room like a catalogue with dining options and what else the hotel had to offer, i think it was more of a case of scan a QR Code with your phone and pull up various info this way, which we could not be bothered to do, we just prefer to lye back and read it, also no pen or writing paper and when you are away from business a pen and paper can come in handy.

These to us are just basic things you should have in a hotel room.

Please put a spoon in the rooms for making hot drinks as those wooden sticks are useless and many times the cleaners would forget to supply them along with the regular blue sachet coffee, it was always the red decaf so i had to go every day to a cleaner and say don’t keep putting decaf, please only put the regular blue sachets of coffee.

Breakfast was nice enough and offered both inside and outside seating which was very nice.
Our only complaint about breakfast was the juice section because for a Hilton some fresh juice should be on offer as what was on offer is just sugar drinks in our opinion.

The bounty beach side restaurant is in a very nice spot and the menu for food has a nice enough selection but is let down by food not being prepared and seasoned properly which i believe was the general case in other restaurants close by in Santa Maria.

I will get more into the bounty restaurant on a separate review on trip advisor.

The prices in the Hilton for food and drinks were very fair and in no way expensive and there was happy hour at their various spots for having a drink but it’s not advertised so it was a case of ordering drinks at that time and then being told there was 50% off, so back to info in the room to let one know, maybe scanning the QR codes pulls up this info but we didn’t use it.

All the staff were very warm and welcoming and in general all the locals were very sweet and there no stress motto really comes through.

If i would return to Sal, it would only be to stay in the Hilton

We stayed in room 2031, King pool view and it was really nice, in fact we think it is one of the nicest rooms we ever stayed in during our worldly travels (only lacking dressing robes to make it perfect). The bed was soooo comfy with a memory foam top. The bathroom lovely and included a bath, but we were happy with the shower. Nice toiletries, air-con' was fine (on max'), decor very tasteful (as it was throughout the whole hotel public areas), plenty of TV channels in English. The housekeeping staff came round early evening to offer toiletry refills, which was a nice touch. We had booked directly on the breakfast deal and were impressed by the variety and quality. We found the prices a little steep for other meals and drinks, but the main town is only a 15 minute walk along the beach front and a €3 taxi ride back. The beach in front of the hotel was the nicest section of shoreline we saw along from the town, but the sea was too rough to swim in when we were there. The hotel pool is very large, but like other hotels here on the island it was nippy to swim in during March and only a few brave souls made use of it. There were plenty of comfortable loungers and umbrellas by both the pool and the beach. The pool towels are large and fluffy and are issued against cards issued during check-in. The hotel appeared about a third full when we were there. The gym was above average and fitness classes were available.
The grounds are full of mature trees, lawns and bushes which are well manicured. The receptionist was very helpful and arranged a later checkout to fit better with our flight home. Would definitely stay here again if we return to Sal.

From the moment we arrived I felt welcomed and relaxed. The walk to our pool view room was enhanced by the piped chill out music that one would normally associate with a spa.
The beds in our superior room were super comfortable, good spacious layout, good water supply with a very good overhead shower.
Included in your room is a small mini bar, kettle, cups, coffee, tea, sugar, sweeteners and coffee milk powder (I took UHT milk portions for tea) Fresh water was supplied in copious amounts and if it ran out a quick call to reception ensured a swift delivery to replace empty bottles.
Toiletries supplied and replenished daily shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion.
A hairdryer is supplied but if I were to stay here again I would take my own as it was not powerful enough for me.
I would suggest taking several mosquito plug in devices for the room (they are required as of course there are mosquito’s; this is Africa after all) also a decent repellent to protect yourself with.
Pool is a little chilly but after a quick shower your body temp will drop and you will soon find yourself enjoying a swim. Pool has a lifeguard a towel collection and drop off shed. The sun beds were by far the most comfy beds I have ever had the pleasure in laying on. To top all of this the waiting staff patrol the area making cocktails and offering little snacks to tempt your taste buds.
There is an allocated sunbathing area on the beach which is served by the fabulous beach bar/restaurant. The sun beds are sheltered by the winds overlooking the sea and you are protected by a lifeguard. I did go into the sea it was perfectly warm enough in January although I would not suggest entering if you are not a competent swimmer.
Water sport facilities are abundant in this area and as a client of the Hilton I was provided with a discount card for a company immediately to the right of ‘our beach’ I did not partake in any of the activities (despite a few being offered for free) so I am unable to comment on this in full.
Breakfast is self serving, tables are not allocated just select where you want to sit a waiter/waitress will soon arrive to provide your drink and then go off to make your selection. I found myself enjoying several courses at Breakfast as the variety was so tempting.
There are four restaurant areas in the hotel but I only used the Breakfast room and The Bounty on the beach which were both excellent.
If I return to this island in the near future I would return to this hotel. At the moment it is located in a quiet section of the beach in the hotel zone but there is so much construction in the area that I am sure this could change very quickly so I would observe newer reviews with close attention and pm more recent guests for advice.

We expected an above average service from the Hilton brand but unfortunately this resort is lacking. Staff in restaurants are not properly trained nor are they supervised. At breakfast tables do not get cleaned properly and our plates got regularly swiped away before we finished eating.
Food was cremated and overcooked so we ate out most evenings.
Floor tiles in our shower looked like they have never been cleaned
80% of their staff are clueless.
All a bit disappointing.

Very nice week in the Hilton Cabo Verde!

Very spacious room, nicely decorated with beautiful accessories, lamps, mirrors. Bathroom with shower very nice too. This was our 3rd stay in Sal, so as we are aware of economic context, we are less demanding in our expectations than usual. We know that almost everything is imported so always amazed to discover the wide choice of buffets. The breakfast buffet was our favorite, especially omelettes on request. We liked tasting local cooked dishes (cachupa) or vegetables even during breakfast. There were plenty of different smoothies on request, pancakes, breads...The dinner buffet was less outstanding : not enough starters, even once, no starters at all when we arrived late. The price of 35€/person if not half-board, is too high according to us.

We had a global satisfying experience at The Bounty Beach for lunch: very nicely cooked and sometimes sophisticated dishes, but once we found surprising the goat cheese salad which came with a huge cheese! Club sandwich available too.
We loved the beach, walking either to Santa Maria or Ponta Preta: clear water, fine sand, bathing when not too windy with professional and nice lifeguards, so no time to try the pool which looked beautiful.
We liked the architecture and design of the hotel with its lovely exotic garden, full of beautiful plants and flowers.
Hilton Cabo Verde is a recent hotel with some unexperienced staff but always with a true will to meet your needs. We met nice and professional members of the staff : Edelisa, always smiling barmaid, Noel, always running manager...To be noted that most members at the reception staff speaks english, french, portuguese...

And thanks to them all, our stay in this hotel was great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hilton and we hope to return for sure! We have stayed at Cabo Verde before, in 3 other hotels, and Hilton outshines them all; even though we prefer to stay a bit closer to town. It is a 10-15 minutes walk (totally safe) or a short ride by taxi (4 euros in the evening) to the center.

Our room was big, clean and sound proof, bed very comfortable, bathroom huge and luxurious with a bath and separate (rain)shower. We booked a standard room and were very happy with its location, with sea view even! Small improvements could be the adjustment of lighting (either too dark or too bright) and to replace the minibar with a well working empty fridge instead.

The gardens are lovely and well maintained, the pool is huge and we never had an issue to find sunbeds (near the pool and at the beach). The setting is beautiful, relaxed and quiet. No pushy entertainment or loud music.

We only booked breakfast, which was the best we had in Cabo Verde hotels. Very complete (considering everything needs to be imported to the island), yummy freshly made omelets, pancakes and smoothies, great service. At night we prefer to eat out, there are many nice restaurants in Santa Maria; such as Marea, Sabores Livros and Americo's. By Valeria is a very nice option (homemade pasta!) just 5 minutes from the hotel.

I’ve read many negative reviews about the staff, which I do not agree with at all. Yes, some are not as experienced and skilled as others, but in general the staff members work really hard, are friendly and service oriented; especially at the reception and at breakfast times. Thanks guys for all the perfect espresso’s, brought to our table with a smile!

Spacious and open reception area with nice natural lighting, high ceilings and very relaxing atmosphere. Front of house staffs welcoming guests with smiles thus starting the stay with a feel good. Hilton Cabo Verde Sal Resort is located about 10 minute’s walk to Santa Maria town centre with numerous restaurants and shops. Our room was comfortable and clean, lighting could be improved as it was either very bright or too dim. The pool area is nice with a well-maintained garden around it, plenty of sun loungers around and you don’t have to worry. There are two bars, one by the pool and the other next to a couple of convenience shops within the building on the ground floor. The beach can be found at the back of the hotel, from there you can either go to the other hotels or towards the town centre which is a nice 10-15 minutes along the beach walk.
There is still a few more steps needed for improvements but those are minor ones, we noticed on our stay that some staff members were unexperienced but they will try their best to meet your needs.
All in all, a very relax no stress stay, thank you team Hilton Cabo Verde Sal Resort, keep up the good work.

As above. Really great service, Cize bar by the lobby has unbelievable burgers that you build yourself. Best burger in the world by far. Gym is small but functional (Update your software on the Concept 2 rower ASAP please!). Staff are so friendly & obliging. Pool bar staff are fantastic. Rooms are comfortable but need a better restock of tea bags & condiments / tea spoons. Wider range of choice at breakfast, Champagne, smoked salmon should be derigeur for a 5* as should welcome drinks & full supply of toiletries in the bathroom (Cotton wool balls). I would recommend this hotel. We will be back.

The hotel reception was overall horribly managed and we had a plethora of problems ever since making the booking. We had emailed the hotel four days prior to our arrival a couple of simple questions, but our inquiries were never responded. We had to call them on the day of our arrival (which is rather inconvenient in a long distance destination that doesn’t support our phone operators).
The check-in took approximately 30 minutes, even though there were only two groups before us in the queue and the person at the reception charged us nearly two hundred euros extra than what we owed. We were already late for our restaurant booking because of the check in process and there was a long queue of displeased people behind us; We decided to pay and sort it out later, so we wouldn’t miss our dinner and the other people were able to check in. We returned after dinner when there was no queue and the reception admitted we had indeed been overcharged by a substantial amount and promised we would receive a refund of what was owed to us. Upon check out however, we were told only a part of the money we were owed was to be returned because they had provided a private shuttle for our transportation; different transportation and price that we had requested for. When we made it clear this was not the transportation or price we had agreed upon the woman at the reception (called herself a manager) behaved in an unpardonably aggressive and rude manner and would repeatedly call me a liar to my face - I am a Hilton Honors member and have stayed in quite a few Hiltons, but have never been treated in this manner. Even when we together checked the email I had sent and prove her wrong, she would still rant in an aggressive manner refusing to admit that a mistake had been made on their part and kept accusing me and my spouse for an increasing amount of petty accusations contradicting herself every here and there, which was as preposterous as it was petty and unprofessional.

On the positive notes, the facilities were beautiful and The Bounty restaurant and the restaurant staff were absolutely wonderful - The food and service were superb and amazing value for money and we were very grateful and touched that the restaurant staff had considered our special occasion and ensured we had an incredible experience.
The beach is very beautiful and The Bounty restaurant area is excellent for day at the beach. Come here for this restaurant and beach only.

Everything about this hotel was amazing. The rooms were clean, and serviced by the staff a couple of times a day. The decor and cleanliness was second to none (knew we were on to a winner with the dolphins statues on the wall in reception which were spectacular). The pool was clean and well kept, as were the loungers and the pool area. The food for breakfast and dinner was buffet but there was a wide variety to chose from, so never dull. The beach was pristine ... golden white sand and gorgeous blue water (if you're brave enough to step in, as the waves are really strong). But above all are the staff ............. they serviced every need. Nothing was too much for them. I took the time to try and engage in Portuguese, and they appreciated that although they all spoke good english. For our family of 4, it was the perfect break, and will be our winter go-to place to relax for a week. Must mention Joao, jocelina, ariana, wagner who were fantastic with my family. Muito obrigado, Hilton. A proper 5 star hotel.

"Bring a warm wrap or jacket for windy morning/evening. Bring a couple of adapters. Check bar bills carefully Be thoughtful to staff, they really do work hard. "
