This is a review after our stay at the Hanah House, the private cabin at Hanah Mountain Resort. I and 5 other guests rented the Hanah House for two nights while in town for a wedding. The biggest complaints: The Hanah House was not clean, amenities were broken, and we were treated dismissively by the Hanah manager, Deb. Shortly after checking in, we noticed the heat was not working. We called into the main lobby, and maintenance promptly came and turned on the heat to the bedrooms and left a space heater in the main room until they could fix it the next day. I was very pleased about how quickly maintenance handled it, this is not a complaint about that. But it's just the first of many issues illustrating that the Hanah House was not at all made ready for guests prior to our arrival. We quickly discovered: - There were dirty towels on the floor in the master bathroom (pictured below). They had been there so long that a spider had built a web between them and the bathtub. - There was leftover food baked onto a pan left in the oven (pictured below). I can only assume it was from the same party that left the cobwebbed dirty towels. This made the oven unusable. - There were flies in the house, and multiple dead ones on the carpet in each of the bedrooms. - we also had complaints about the fact that the electric fireplace did not work, and that there were no comforters in the room. I was satisfied by the manager's explanation that the fireplace is a fire hazard, and does not work by design, and that the comforters have been removed due to covid protocol. Over the next few nights, we discovered that multiple things were broken: - The first night, the fire alarm in the main room began beeping, indicating it needed its battery changed. To me this indicates the hotel does not regularly check them. - The second morning, when the 6 of us were running around getting ready for the wedding, we discovered the shower head in the master bath did not work and only produced a trickle of water. - We also discovered that the hairdryer in the master bath, the only one in the house, did not work. I asked specifically ahead of time if they had hairdryers and irons available anticipating we would need them for the wedding. When we checked out, we let the front desk know about our issues and they told us they'd notify the manager, Deb, and ask her to call us. Deb called me the next day, but when I asked if there was anything she could do about all the problems we experienced, or if it would be possible to get partial compensation since the house wasn't up to par, she refused. She assigned the issues to the fact that the house is a rustic cabin. I understand that the house is not a 5-star mansion, but things were broken, dirty, and the house did not appear to be ready for guests when we checked in. My partner asked her if she could speak to upper management. When I checked in with her two days later, she informed me that upper management held the same position. She also cut me off when I was speaking to say goodbye and hang up on me. I have never asked for compensation or complained before about a hotel. I understand these are usually run by people doing their best to provide for their guests, and mistakes do happen. But the house was dirty, amenities were broken, and the most we got was a "sorry, but it's a cabin."…
Staff were all very nice and helpful, but the "resort" itself is very tired. The rooms are dark and look like they haven't been updated since the 90s. However, they are quite large and spacious. The property itself is mediocre. It has a nice view from the main lodge, but nothing to really write home about. Other than that it's just all a big parking lot on top of a hill. I'm not quite sure why they called it a "resort", because it certainly does not merit that title. I cannot speak for the golf course, but the rest of the property is just meh. I would not recommend it, and I don't see myself returning here.
We went to dinner with another couple on Friday and to our surprise we had an excellent meal. The food was to die for and the service was excellent. The young ladies that were serving us could not have been more attentive or friendly. The food was hot and prepared to perfection. We were pleasantly surprised because we didn't even know that the restaurant was open to the public until friends of our's had dinner there. We absolutely recommend Hanah for a terrific meal. We understand that the Chef is young and self taught. We can't say enough about his food and presentation. We will be frequently patronizing Hanah for dinner. They now need to bring back the Sunday breakfast buffet that they used to have and they definately need to advertise.
Disappointed there is much on this place here on TripAdvisor.. some bullets: - Golf was outstanding. I think we played the first week the course was open in 2021 and the conditions, pace of play etc were fantastic. Mid-week price a great value. - Hotel is top of the mountain where there are 3 large buildings..1-a pro-shop/restaurant/ banquet building. Great views of the valley below. Outdoor deck and patio in a great setting. 2- Indoor pool Building. 3- hotel/motel, no office or common areas just rooms, ice machine etc. All rooms have an exterior entrance with an outdoor patio or balcony. - Dining we were supposed to get a continental breakfast each morning however each time I went the coffee wasn't out and they had to make it. The danish and waffles were like 5 items in cellophane and came from frozen. No lunch this early in the season so we got sandwiches from a restaurant in town to take to the golf course. On Monday night they were open for dinner and it was quite good. - Room large and spotlessly clean. Could have used one more lamp but that is all. Mini- fridge also provided. - Facility condition..this place is 30 years old and need a refresh. There was trash in the bushes and woods, coiled up extension cords inside and out. Snow shovels leaning against buildings, plastic 5 gallon buckets with gravel/sand near the entrances, potholes all over the parking lot and peeling paint on the exterior as well as the deck and footbridge. - Staff all were great.…
I made a reservation, early in the morning for an overnight stay at their hotel. Myself and daughter drove 3 hours, arriving in the area about 6pm and picked up pizza which we were planning to take to the hotel and check in. As I went to check the address of the hotel and went to their website - I notice a banner that says their hotel is closed. I then checked my email and they had sent an email at 4:45pm(!!!!) saying their hotel was closed. I had provided my cell phone in the reservation but they did not have the decency to call to tell us they were closed. Beyond disgusted at their complete lack of consideration for people planning to stay at their hotel - and the lateness of their 'email'. It would have taken them 1 minute to pick up the phone and call. It's not like it was cheap and relatively expensive reservation. It was during the holiday week so I knew hotels were completely sold out. My daughter was devastated and started to cry. We were tired after a long drive. Luckily a motel I called had one room left and they saved the day. They were shocked at the Hanah's treatment. Save yourself a headache - DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION at this awful, awful mismanaged place. I would never, ever consider them again and would tell anyone to avoid. Better to stay at home.…
