We rented cabin 11 for a 2 night stay with 2 young boys. When we checked in, the lady was very rude which set the stage... Cabin 11 was (to be nice) absolutely disgusting! It was covered in mold and moss and set on what looked to be very unsturdy cement slabs. Inside was worse: the kitchen was filled with...

This was a first time camping trip for my wife and pre teen daughter so I booked a 4 night stay in the only cabin available the week before Labor Day weekend. The check in went somewhat smoothly (Desk person forgot to give me the cabin key) and with park map in hand found our cabin. The cabin consisted of a...

Gilbert Lake State Park is a very picturesque park near Oneonta. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the grounds were very clean. Cabins were nice. Some have been newly renovated. They only have cold running water and a toilet in the cabin but there are shower facilities that have hot running water. They are also kept pretty clean. The...

We camped here at site 52 in a fifth wheel from 7/25-7/29. The sites don't have a lot of privacy but this was an end spot so there was more privacy than most spots. The open grassy area across the road was great for the kids to play and the road was well-maintained so it was great for bikes and...

My fiance and I camped here for July 4th weekend (4 days). It was our first time camping by ourselves since usually we bring friends along. We didn't have high hopes because the reviews were iffy and we booked online three days prior when EVERY other campground was full. We were SO pleasantly surprised! The grounds are beautiful -- everything...

When we arrived at our site 52.........IT WAS SO TINY!!!! No place to enjoy our site at all! There are only 12 sites with electric... all...

Because we procrastinated, we could not find campsites in any of the parks we usually frequent. Now I know why this park had plenty of available sites. The sites are extremely small and there is no privacy whatsoever. There are plenty of trees but no undergrowth to separate one site from the next. The only way you know where your...

My family and many others have been coming to Gilbert Lake for year. Now that we, the children, are older and starting our own families the tradition continues. The cabins are fun and located to allow for good socializing between groups but also for privacy. Call early as the good cabins go early.

This was our first year staying at the cabins at Gilbert Lake. And we very much enjoyed our stay and felt rested by the time we returned home. My husband was from this area, so it was also a trip to visit with family. The cabin we stayed at was beautiful. But some of the cabins have been updated and...

“Funny this review is arranged as for a hotel!!”

“If you want to read in a cabin, bring a lamp and an extension cord. Ask for mousetraps at check in. Ask how the door is oriented in cabins, so you and neighbors who are less than ideal aren't on top of one another. When they say nothing is provided, they mean it. Bring a sponge or a dishcloth for the counters.”

“bring bed linens/pillows, ask about the renovated cabins and locations in relation to beach and showers ,the wood sold on site is green(wet).”

“If you don't mind a drive to the beach pick anything in the loops farthest from it, all of these sites appeared to be really nice, we had the very last loop in the 180s/190s which was dry and open because of the pine trees. Don't go to the hilltop.”
