We wandered off the promenade into Bluesun Hotel Soline to try the wine tasting. Josip was the host and we had, by far, the best wine tasting of our lives. Croatia has some of the most delicious wines in the world. These were the best among the best, all from the Stina winery in the Isle of Brac. We tasted the whites, the reds, the sparkling, we even took a break to go watch the sun dip into the sea and then returned to our tastings. Josip was so knowledgable and fun. It came with a delicious Croatian cheese and meat board. DO NOT MISS THIS WONDERFUL EVENING. It was a highlight of our trip

the staff at the hotel where, very nice and helpful. During the covid pandemic I felt at ease and the hotel was very clean. Lovely location ideal for families. And lots of water sports on the local beaches.

We stayed at the wonderful Bluesun hotel in the third week of August and the whole experience was amazing from start to finish. Every member of staff was helpful, polite and always smiling (even if it was behind masks). Our room (Room 001) was fantastic with its own access to a private pool, was cleaned extremely well every day and offered us everything we needed. The bed, although two twins, was very comfortable. The food in the main restaurant was excellent and staffed brilliantly given the whole Coronavirus saga. We also ate at the smaller grill bar down by the beach which offers some of the most amazing sunset views you could ever hope to enjoy whilst eating dinner. The whole hotel was exceptionally clean to the point where we actually tried to find dirt in the most random of places but couldn’t. Do not be worried about precautions being taken to tackle Coronavirus as there are hand sanitising stations everywhere. From the front entrance to my room I think I walked past 3 or 4 of them. Every member of staff wears masks (must be hard in that heat) and anyone handling food also wears gloves. The swimming pools and loungers were great along with their towel service where you exchange a voucher for a towel, return it for new voucher when finished with it and repeat as you like. My only small gripe is the lack of information of amenities provided by the hotel. In most hotels you get a binder with all of the information you need. However, this wasn’t the case here. A small bit of info on the tv but not enough. We had to ask about restaurant opening times, when room service operated (stops at 9pm which is way too early) and we also spent the week paying for sun loungers on the beach when 30 yards away we could have sat for free in an area controlled by the hotel. No one told us this and it wasn’t until I read a small sign on our last day that we knew this. Be warned, the usual sun lounger hoarders are up early with their towels to claim loungers and then leave them empty for hours before they return. The hotel does say they have the right to remove items to free up the loungers but I didn’t see any evidence of this. This lack of information however still isn’t enough to remove a star from this amazing hotel. It took us about 10 minutes to walk into town where there is an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars. Not much social distancing though so be warned. We cannot wait to get back there as soon as possible and even though this was our first visit to Croatia I’m not sure I have much interest in visiting any other hotel now.

The hotel is unique from the outside, somewhat of a concrete jungle, however, you come to embrace it and see it as a style as it is perfectly situated by the sea with the Biokovo mountain in its backdrop. The rooms are comfortable and clean with a beautiful view. Half board was excellent value for money and the bar was full in the evenings as there is usually some type of program. What I must recommend is wine tasting with Josip. His expertise, warm character and excellent selection of wines will make any evening of your stay truly enjoyable. Hope to be back!
