Small resort at 200mt from the beach built according to local architecture overlooking a tropical fjord. From the terrace astonishing view of small forest islands and sand banks appearing and disappearing with tides. The sea has at least 100 different shades from light blue to turqueoise depending on sun intensity. The owners are two italians guys, Luca and Raffaele, extremely...

I went to Emerald Bay for a break between Christmas and New Year, travelling from Dar es Salaam which is where I'm currently based. My stay coincided with the co-proprietors also being there who acted as hosts. The place is fantastic. Some considerable way from any other tourist resort, there's a bit of a sense of being in the middle...

The photos and website do this place little justice. Emerald Bay is an absolute gem. The biggest highlight most definitely have to be the boat excursions to the little and big sand bars.....absolutely breathtaking with incredible white-sand beaches and zero tourists! If you like seafood, Emerald Bay will be everything you are looking for....large portions and absolutely delicious! There is...

Dear Katherine many thanks for your generous feedback, asante sana. We are glad you and children enjoyed your stay with us and thanks for the compliments. Concerning the manager you were actually meeting with him sometimes and his name was Ahmed, he is shy and i am afraid he did not introduce himself as a manager sorry for that. I...

I was looking for a beach extension after my safari in Kenya. My requirements were challenging, i wanted beautiful sea and water, good food, not full of european honeymooners, no tourists crowding the beaches, not too far away and everything without breaking the bank. So, i did extensive research and found this place. After talking to one of the owners,...

Hola Angel many thanks for taking your time to write this detailed review that really gives and idea of what your stay at Emerald Bay was. it is a remote island with particular activities and unique experience. I don't think you would classify this as a "resort" by American standards. But it is still a great place to unwind and relax while being taken care of by a very attentive staff. The rooms were large and very comfortable and clean. Full board gives you three delicious meals a day. The beauty of Pemba Island is that it...

Me and my boyfriend arrived here last Monday. Pemba is a fairly unspoiled inhabited little paradise of an island. Ahmed(the manager, contagious giggling laugh) accompanied us to the resort and once there we not only discovered we would have the entire place to ourselves but the chef was also waiting for us with tuna sandwiches and fresh fruit juice.(we hadn't...

If we look at what Wikipedia says about beauty “Beauty is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction....”.. the concept of beauty in Pemba is what you experience when looking at the rich greens of ten types of mangoes in plenty, and many hundreds of clove trees…when you...

Rooms are big and perfectly clean. the cook will ask you during your whole stay what you'd like to eat and is adorable. However the excursions which are listed as "free" on their website aren't really... the hotel not having a beach, a boat will take you out to the sand bank (by low tide) and another private beach which...

Many thanks for the compliments to the chef and our rooms. Glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We got a booking with Emerald Bay on the day of our arrival in Pemba. We were picked up from the airport and driven through villages and plantations to the resort.
