I don't normally leave really negative reviews - I try to be a realist and I think I'm pretty easygoing with most places (my travel companions to Jungle Monkey are equally as laid back) but this was one of the worst hostels I've ever been to. Unfortunately, I think in this case it was simply a bad room location that...

This is one of the best hostels that I have visited on my trip in South Africa. The people are crazy friendly, they offer a lot of interesting (and cheap) tours and they have a bar with live music, good drinks and even good food if you don't feel like cooking. You can cool down in one of the pools,...

Nice Backpackers! We got the Purple room and it was great! Far from the bar and I think that's good for a good rest, cause the party atmosphere is there. But not annoying at all. Great location, we had a swim in the pool, THE kitchen is good For self-catering. Perfect spot for open-minded travellers!!!

We had a fantastic time at the Jungle Monkey. We tried out all the different rooms they had to offer! The staff are fantastic. Do the Mangwa And Bulolo Falls hikes. Also recommend making your way to the lighthouse. If you are headed here I would say you need at least a week to take in everything they have to...

We highly recommend that place if you like backpackers hostel. It's really one of the best in South Africa...

We originally booked just 2 nights but ended up staying for 4!!! The road to the hostel was not great as it had loads of diversions and pot holes but once there it was great. We were welcomed by Mike the owner who was very nice and friendly and made us feel at home straight away. They provided tours/excursions so...

During my travels around the world I have stayed in a lot of backpackers places, but this was by far my favourit one. The view from the "monkey viee" room was spectacular, and you have a big glass wall leading to the balcony so it is right in front of you! The bar/lounge area has an open jam session area...

Friendly vibe. Laid back locals. Beautiful views and intellectual conversation. Ask for anything and they will make it happen. I mentioned late one night at the bar I had battled to sleep due to heavy snoring friends and as I asked for my last beer a key for my very own room was handed over. No questions just the Pondo...

I can't fault Jungle Monkey on anything. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpfull. The communal kitchen is adequately stocked and the grounds beautifully kept. You can even get your laundry done at a very reasonable price. From what we saw on our travels through Port St Johns Jungle Monkey is definately one of the...

We were (the whole family) for almost a week there. We enjoyed the rooms, the food, the atmosphere and above all - the great people that manage and run the hostel. Evenings were great - with live bands some days - and over all the accommodation were more then what we expected. I would recommend it to all - families...
