After having stayed at jungle monkeys 4 years ago i wanted to return since it was a great spot with a nice vibe and staff. Oh man has this place changed . I booked two double rooms with en suite bath rooms but for some reason the system confused the booking and booked me into the same room twice (...

I booked the Monkey View room and paid the deposit only to receive a phone call to say that they have changed my room to a single room with no view. I was really disappointed. The room was basic, small and very hot with a shared bathroom. This was not what I wanted. There is a kitchen for self catering,...

Good news to Port St Visitors is that the monkey is operational again after the devastating fire that destroyed the kitchen and bar (the accommodation part was unaffected by the fire). The bar and dining room is temporary housed in the front portion bur plans are afoot to move it back to its old spot., albeit in a different form....

We had a nice stay in jungle monkeys. If it's possible try to book the monkey view room, nice room with beautiful view. It was very quiet at our visit but normally there is a good vibe I think. PappaG is a very friendly and interesting guy, we wish you All the best!

Only stayed here one night (thank goodness). The place was clean but I didn't enjoy the vibe at all; lots of boozy hippies all over the place and a creepy feel to the communal lounge/bar area. it's also a bit disconcerting to have a big warning sign at the entrance saying 'strictly no drugs'. Thankfully our room was a quiet...

We stayed here one night, out of season. Before we came we checked if they were still open since half the place, the restaurant and kitchen area, burned down. They said they were. We were welcomed by a young girl, she was a bit off we thought. The owners are a young hippie couple, with a child running around the...

The Jungle Monkey is a Backpackers with ups and downs. On the one hand they have a nice bar area with livemusic from time to time as well as a good overall appearance. Some of the staff members were extremely friendly, helpfull and good to talk to while others seemed absent and uninterested in helping you. The kitchen area was...

I have previously stayed at two other backpackers in Wilderness and Capetown, and I decided that a backpackers was not for me. So booking into Jungle Monkey, I was expecting the worst.. I was surprised to see that the rooms were kept really clean. I managed to stay one night in the Monkey View room and had to move to...

Jungle Monkey is a great place to stay. After arranging my stay and setting up my shuttle from the Baz Bus drop off in Mthatha via a really bad Skype connection on my end with the very patient manager, staff made me feel welcomed by buying me my first drink (everyone has to have drink in the Jungle Monkey bar)...
