I always try to support local places by local people, but I'm so disappointed in this lodge. It truly has the potential to be so much more. Unfortunately, I make use of this lodge on business trips throughout the year because I work close by and I don't have another choice. Just as we didn't have on our road to...

You don´t have an other choice :( The floor was really dirty. You can see where the guest before did not hit the toilet. I asked for cleaning up with water. They tried, but it was not clean at all. I had a lot of trouble to get a warm shower. We spend two days in the lodge. They were...

After a 4-hour drive on the hot and dusty gravel road from the nearest big town, Grootfontein, Tsumkwe Country Lodge is a welcome surprise. You'll find a cool, thatched reception area, a scrupulously dusted private chalet with snowy white bed linen and the romantic drapery of mosquito netting, and the most delightful staff. They couldn't do enough for me, whether...

Very disappointing. No wild animals, and the roads in the park was in a very poor condition. Staff was kind and helpful, so no complaints about them. The showerhead in our bathroom was broken, so we couldn't open it enough for the gass to start warming the water.

We did not have much to choose from the menu. Only lamb chops and pork tjops were available. they only had 6 lamb tjops and 2 pork tjops to serve. we stayed in rooms 1, 2 and 3 and no 1 and 2 did not have hot water. No 3 had either boiling water (so warm you could not shower)...

Very remote and the only lodge for miles makes this lodge that you have to use if you are in the area. Room was small and basic with a decent shower but everything was a bit in need of. Bedding had holes and so did the mosquito net which was unusable. We were only given two small hand towels, no...

A very expensive place in the middle of nowhere with the least amount of amenities in a lodge anywhere in the world I presume! The food is ill prepared, bugs in the living quarters were not my favorite experience either. There is definitely room for major improvement.

Have been traveling to Tsumkwe atleast once a month this year for business and I always enjoy my stay. Food is always delicious although the menu is limited at times, due to Tsumkwe's location. Friendly staff and comfortable beds make it THE place to stay in the area.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is located in a very remote from any major city so it's the only place you can sleep in the area. Rooms are clean with warm water. Long breakfast was reasonable and the whole family was pleased. We arrived in the evening and we set off after breakfast so we did not...

Plus points: Accommodation was fine - spacious and comfortable, if basic. The staff were very friendly, particularly Sophia who is the lodge's best asset. Elephants use the water hole at the back of the lodge. This was fantastic to see. Poor points: The food and drinks were extortionately over priced, as were the trips. We did a half day trip...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
TUCSIN (The University Centre for Studies in Namibia) bought Tsumkwe Lodge in 2014 from the Namibia Country Lodges Group. The TUCSIN TSUMKWE Hospitality and Training Centre is now a multi-functional centre promoting inter alia, education and training. At the same time it operates as any other lodge in Namibia catering for local and international visitors to the area. TUCSIN became involved because this was seen as an opportunity for offering education and training to the marginalized San community who can no longer survive exclusively by hunting and gathering. The need to integrate community members and in particular the Ju/'hoan San Bushmen, who live in the Nyae Nyae Conservancy, is of cardinal importance. It requires a well-informed approach with respect for the precious - but rare - value systems of traditional hunter-gatherer societies. TUCSIN considers the lodge as an opportunity for involving the marginalised San community who live in the area. A hands-on approach to work should lead to training, study and eventual employment. Accommodation complemented by personal hosting and cultural excursions to Ju/'hoansi villages form part of the day to day function of this Hospitality and Training facility. With its close proximity to the Nyae Nyae Pans and Khaudom National Park, Tsumkwe is still a wilderness paradise, off the beaten track! ... more   less
