Was real excited, never been to a B&B before...after visiting this one...I will probably not go to another one. My room was musty, the grounds looked overgrown and unkept. There is a difference between rustic and unkept. The hospitality of the owners was sub par. There was no common area, just your room....was very disappointed....right off main highway...all night long, constant... More

Last weekend, my husband and I arrived late in a Friday night rainstorm but the owner nicely left us a key and had our room ready with the AC on. Our lovely canopy bedroom (Room 1 upstairs) had such a welcoming space, with a large well-appointed bathroom, that we were comfortable immediately. Next morning we walked over to the Stone... More

My son (13 yrs old) and I were guest and found this hidden treasure. The owner (Robyn) and assistant (Esther) were the nicest people. The breakfast every morning was amazing. As you walk into the main house for breakfast you will be greeted by Ms. Lily (PUG) and Mr. Sam (yellow lab). The rooms are clean with an amazing view... More

We travel from Southern New Jersey for a wedding. I search trip advisory and came upon the Captain Schoonmaker's B&B. It had great reviews and I have learned to trust Trip Advisor. The site didn't disappoint. We had a great stay! We stayed in the Red Barn room 3. I love the rustic feel of the room, listening to the... More

My wife and I found Schoonmaker's to be charming, intimate and quite competitively priced. The room we stayed in (on the second floor) had a beautiful view from the deck of the babbling brook below. The bathroom, although small, was in good condition and all toiletries were provided. Some negative reviews have noted the thinness of the walls. Honestly, if... More

My husband and I came back to celebrate our anniversary weekend in January. We have been here a few times before in different seasons and we really enjoy the view of the mountain stream and falls from the cozy room. Our favorite room has a vaulted ceiling, a four-poster bed, comfortable bed and and chairs for relaxing. Our charming hostess... More

I recently had a three-night stay here and had a lovely time. I stayed in the Waterfall Room (first floor, ba off the hallway, least expensive room). The room was very cozy with the electric fireplace --made for a nice experience. I also loved the babbling brook running through the rear of the property. The breakfasts were amazing --first day:... Most of the rooms are located at the barn, which is pretty neat and unique. However, if you are on the second floor bear in mind that carrying the suitcase is not an easy task, given the narrow staircase. They do have a balcony to the river, which is beautiful. The rooms were decorated to taste, and complemented the rustic... More

this B&B was off the beaten path on a beautiful property. It is about 30 minutes from Hyde park area, but a nice ride, especially in the fall with all the colors of the trees. Must be really nice in the summer to walk around the creek and be outside etc. I have to say it is a little run... More
