I stayed at this camp for 5 nights and could have stayed for weeks!!. The tents and common areas are drop dead gorgeous. My tent was so comfortable and luxurious. I enjoyed a parade of elephants past my tent during down time almost every day. Listened to leopards, hippos, lions, baboons and hyenas at night! Food was excellent. My guide,...

Loved this camp....we had an excellent guide/teacher named Temba. We learned so much about this area from termites to elephants & lions!! The food was very good and the rooms very comfortable. It was definitely a place where you could get up close & personal with elephants! Least favorite activity was pontoon boat ride....not much to see because you had...

Would give ten stars if we could!! Spent three nights at the new Little Ruckomechi camp (just down the road from the main camp, no TA page of its own yet!), and had an amazing time. We thought the rooms were very comfortable and lack of AC didn't bother us at all -- perfectly situated for breeze. Views were of...

This was my final stop in Zimbabwe and I was ready to relax a little more, just look out over the river and at the mountains in Zambia. The camp has a lovely sitting/reading area as well as the deck and dining room and campfire area. The elephants were happy to join us for meals (the staff kept them from...

Dear margotsmortgage, Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences on your recent visit to the newly rebuilt Ruckomechi! Mana Pools really does have a wildness about it...how exciting to have elephants and baboons walking past your room...and yet it is also so relaxing - especially situated on the Zambezi River with the Zambian escarpment in the distance....

Ruckomechi is a great high-end camp on the banks of the Zambezi river... Elephants are a daily and nightly occurrence in camp. You can literally sit on the deck (or bathroom) and watch elephants play in the river with mud baths and crossings over to the little island in the middle of the river. Food, service, and accommodations are all...

For me guides are the most important factor. Garth, our Ruckomechi guide, was excellent, both on game drives and walking safaris. I had complete confidence in his abilities. I also appreciate and enjoy a well run camp, and Ruckomechi's staff is top notch. Luxury is not my norm but when I splurge this is the type of camp that I...

Our primary reason for choosing four camps in Zambia and Zimbabwe were to be able to take walking safaris. Our guide for our visit to Ruckomechi was Kamba, who had worked previously as a tracker. He brought those skills to bear for us both in our walking and jeep safaris. In the jeeps, he spotted a family of lions heading...
