This was our second time staying at the Fair Wind Motel & Cottages. We had one of the 2 larger motel rooms near the office. It was great. The property has a very relaxing outdoor feel to it. Beautiful pool. Great access to the St. Lawrence if you bring a boat or rent one. Friends came in from their stay...

A great place for both couples or family who want a small but pleasant place to stay. Clean rooms with air conditioning, Small or large family cottages, pool, and dock. Best of all pet friendly.you will want to come back time after time. The sunsets from the river are spectacular, and if you miss it one night there's always the next.

This review is for the cottages. Pros: - GREAT view - Convenient location about 7 mins from downtown Clayton and 20 mins from Alexandria Bay - Full kitchenette means you can cook your own meals for the week - Gas grill and picnic table at every cottage - Screened-in porch is a great place to put wet suits, tube, life...

We stayed in a motel room. It was a bit dated, but clean and quiet. Most of the activities we did were in the Alex Bay area, and the 20-minute drive back and forth can get to be a bit much, but for the reduced price of staying a bit outside of the main tourist trap, it was well worth...

The Fair Wind Motel and cottages is a peaceful hideaway, on Rte 12, but still “off the beaten path.” The rooms are simply decorated and clean. Our room contained a twin and a double bed, a chair, closet with an extra blanket, a dresser with mirror, a very small flat-screen TV, and a nightstand. Oh, yes… and a mini-fridge! Usually,...

I liked this motel/cottage. It is a little bit older but very clean, quiet, nice location, the bed was comfortable and the host was very professional and very nice. We would stay again. Close to town. Pleasant. Excellent price.

Previously stayed at Fairwinds and no issues - however can't say the same this trip. Upon arrival noticed the place is for sale and the grounds looked unkept upon pulling in front of the motel. We hesitantly checked in as had reservation and were given room 1. the bathroom is a relic; the mirror you can hardly see yourself in...

If you like peace and quiet and the St. Lawrence River, you will enjoy staying at the Fair Wind. It is old, but clean and comfortable and has all the necessities. Only two miles from Clayton Village and the price is very reasonable. We truly enjoyed our stay there.

Stayed at this motel on our visit to Clayton. This is not a chain hotel. It seems to be run by a elderly lady who lives on the property. They have really nice cabins down by the water and the motel is by the road. The rooms in the motel are small and still have actual keys to the rooms....
