This was our second time as a family of four staying during Thanksgiving following 3 days at the sister Lake Placid Lodge, another luxurious OPAL Collection property. When you cross the bridge onto Green Island and make your way up the hill, the resort greets you with a welcoming presence. The bell staff were quick and efficient with our luggage, as were the friendly two front desk ladies. We chose a two queen lakeside room in the main hotel that connected to a spacious living room to gather connecting to a king. The two bedroom two bath lodging was quiet with a nice view of Lake George with nearly a full moon our last night. If you are looking to spend time with family and friends for the holidays, look no further, as there are endless things to do, especially the unique Thanksgiving activities. We voted on our favorite lobby gingerbread house, while sipping champagne during the welcome reception. While we didn’t use the Rec Room, we got to see all of the fun options, including mini-golf. We ate at Mr. Browns twice for dinner, Ella took good care of us in a neat Adirondack themed location. We also enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast in the ballroom with an over abundance of delicious food spread out in 5 stations. I enjoyed the chef prepared crab and lobster ravioli station the best. We had two servers which was impressive. The next day we peeked in on the photos with Santa and walked to the teardrop to watch the Christmas tree lighting with lots of families, following carols led by their enthusiastic General Manager, Tom Guay. All 4 of us enjoyed Spa treatments and tried out the new Salt room which was new and cool. Lots of new memories were created at this wonderful resort full of history, tradition and most creative activities for everyone. We look forward to our next grand adventure in the Adirondacks, on Lake George at the Sagamore Resort magic.

We have been visiting the Sagamore for 25 years. We have mostly stayed in the lodges which back in the day we’re charmingly cozy. The lodge decor hasn’t changed, which doesn’t bother me, but the level of service and attentiveness certainly has. The shower had a fan it that sounded like you were in a jet engine and overly fragrant body wash that immediately resulted in an asthma attack. We used to order room service and they’d bring cloth tablecloths, china, and real silverware with warm food and delicious pots of coffee. Now you get a paper takeout bag, plastic food containers and utensils, and paper coffee cups with lids with cold food and a whole box of ketchup packets when instead you both asked for jam. No jam came. So very disappointing! The hotel itself used to have a variety of restaurant options like Mr. Brown’s Pub, the Veranda and the Trillium. The last couple times we’ve been only a bar is open with a few tables. The lunch service was deplorable. We had to move tables to just get someone to notice us and wait on us. At that we sat at a recently used table with someone else’s dirty dishes. We still didn’t get served until finally the server asked how we were doing and we said not good as we’re sitting with someone else’s dirty dishes in front of us. The food was mediocre at best and my husband had to go to the bar and get his own drink as our server never brought it. This used to be a charming warm cozy upscale place to get away and be well attended to. It’s far from that now. Very sad. We won’t be back.

From the moment we walked into the lobby (smelled divine!)we felt welcomed! Beautiful property, extraordinary staff, great food. We will be back with more family. The Rec center was great for all ages. The ride on The Morgan was breathtaking. Thank you to the entire staff of The Sagamore.

I’d hoped for love, but was left wanting… We had a spacious suite in lodge 2. This room was not exciting and the bathroom was lacking pizzazz with small tub and plastic and very slippery shower base. Small outside deck and a fake fireplace were nicer touches. The bed was comfortable but the heating/cooling noisy. Coffee lovers will be happy with Nespresso Vertuo but tea drinkers will be oh so disappointed. Visiting the pub was a mistake. Apart from the view and the service - which we tipped and paid resort fee for- the food and drink was as lackluster as it comes. A 20 dollar burger that tasted like a frozen patty. If it was not, then it fooled me. The Lake Boat ride was a nice touch and I had a glass of Chardonnay that had turned and I returned and exchanged for a red wine that I should have brought back. I guess the boat only runs weekends and a new bottle wasn’t called for! Oh and the staff with the tip bucket in the way out felt a little uncomfortable. They did not make my time on the boat interesting. That covers it. Not on par with luxury hotels I’ve visited.

Our family has had lunch at the Sagamore every fall for many years. Food and service have gone downhill considerably. It used to be a well paced, delicious lunch. This year's waiter was so busy he slapped the food on the table, rushed away and never returned. So I ate caesar salad with lettuce so old McDonald's would have chucked it. We will still go every year but probably just order pizza which is the lone star on the menu. The ambiance can't be beat. They are often prepping outside for a lavish wedding, views of Lake George are magnificent. The lobby, front entrance and outdoors are beautifully decorated.

Picture the scene in The Great Gatsby when the doors open and you first get a glimpse of the spectacular, spacious beauty of the lush landscape, the infinity pool and waterfront! It’s beyond stunning! Lake George is probably the cleanest lake in NYS. Absolutely pristine! Lounging on the chairs along the lakeside , breathing in the fresh air, I remember why I keep coming back here. Such a relaxing retreat! After Labor Day is definitely the best time to go if you do not have children and can get away while the weather is still summery. So much more peaceful than other times we’ve been here. And the staff — especially Johanna and Monique — who made the magic happen — an upgrade to a suite in the hotel, a microwave for the asking, extra pods of our favorite coffees, extra towels, welcome gifts, and even, the day we were leaving, Monique brought a NEW hairdryer down to the shower near the indoor pool just so I could dry my hair before leaving!! . I can’t think of anything I asked that was answered with any words but “yes! Of course!” I know we were disappointed about the deep end of the lake being closed off ( a lot of rebelling adults jumped in). Please try to get a lifeguard next year. But this was a vacation I will remember for a long time ( and hope to take next year again). Thank you again Johanna and Monique for making our stay so relaxing and special!!

Dear Cindy B, We thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to tell others about your time with us! We love it when our Team Members are recognized and I know that Monique and Johanna will be pleased to see your recognition of their efforts! Lifeguards are a challenge as ours are students that return to school at the end of the season. The entire area is in the same boat. We do have the shallow end with tubes to float in as well! We are happy that you have Sagamore memories and we look forward to welcoming you back soon! Sincerely, Tom Guay

I would NEVER recommend this place. I made reservations for next June to attend a wedding. The wedding was called off so when I called NINE MONTHS before the date, I was told there is a fifty dollar cancellation fee. They say that I agreed to it when I made the reservation, and I'm sure that if that's true (it's not in their written documentation) I indicated that it was for a once in a lifetime event that I would not miss. I have not had weddings cancelled before. It's absurd to charge me fifty dollars for a reservation cancellation made a year in advance and cancelled when they have plenty of time to provide the space to others.

Dear YorbaLindaStar, Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. When you made your reservation you should have received reservation details in an email from me. Specifically, under Policies, the Deposit Policy reads, "A $50 non-refundable deposit will be taken at time of booking and the remainder equaling $ will be charged to your card 14 Days Prior to Arrival". This policy has been in effect for years. If you have a confirmation that states otherwise I would love to see it. I am sorry that the wedding canceled and you won't be with us. I see you travel extensively and I would have loved the opportunity to speak with you prior to this review. I look forward to that opportunity. Regards, Tom Guay

My husband and I went here for a last minute honeymoon (as our origifnal plan for Cancun got disturbed by a hurricane) and we were not disappointed! It was a beautiful resort. The lake was stunning, and outdoor pool was mildly heated so we took advantage of it and took in the views. We did one of the one bedroom cabins, which were comfortable, spacious, and cozy. It was also clean. The lake was stunning!! Definitely do one of the boat tours of the lake, it was so fun!! The restaurants were good, but the Steakhouse on the Golf Course was by far the best. We also got a couples massage that was phenomenal. The indoor pool is also very nice and large. We went in the off season, so we usually had both pools to ourselves!!! The town surrounding the lake was cute, and there were some nice breweries nearby that we checked out! We were also greeted with champagne after we told them it was in impromptu honeymoon. We'll definitely be back!!

Beautiful resort with amazing views of Lake George. Many amenities and activities. Boat rides, infinity pool, lake swimming area, shuttles to all around the property and main street. Excellent service. Very expensive but worth it, would definitely recommend and would return.
