This was my first trip to the delta and Xigera was the first place we stayed. It made a lasting impression. Built on a little island, access is by bridge to the main lounge/dining area and then along raised boardwalks to the rooms. Animals roam freely around the main area and your rooms, which is wonderful. The nights are noisy,...

We visited for 3 nights at the end of the dry season. I had tears in my eyes when we left. At first I was a bit disappointed by the modest appearance of this camp - no air conditioning, nothing super luxurious, etc. But the food was homemade, varied and excellent, our tent was impeccably clean and our bed was...

We had just spent 3 nights at Kalahari Plains a wonderful wonderful experience and left the Delta to second for a totally different experience and it was just amazing. Our guide Lesh was extremely good and through his knowledge and ability was able to find so much game & bird life both on land and water. Two lionesses and their...

Dear 399irisv, The waters of Xigera are in extreme contrast to the desert at Kalahari Plains, but the best route to experiencing Botswana in all its glory. We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us and Lesh. We will be sure to share your comments with all the staff in camp and all of Wilderness...

This was my third visit to Xigera camp ... and, finally, I got to see the elusive sitatunga (three of them, in fact). And a rosy-throated longclaw too! But my visit was just to see what this water-camp has to offer in summer without having a checklist of specific animals to tick off. Summer does offer a very different experience...

This is a very cool camp, on an island in the delta. We loved the boardwalks, sky viewing from the patios and camp fires. The meals are great, but should you require a meal at an off time we found the cooks to be begrudging and stingy with the choices and quantity. For example, we departed at midday and requested...

I can not begin to say enough good things about our experience at Xigera. The tents were amazing, food was delicious, guides were exceptional and everything else in between was beyond belief. Xigera Camp located in the heart of the Okavango Delta is the perfect destination for water lovers. While game drives are available, in fact, the drive from the air strip to the boat which takes you to camp is a game drive, water based experiences are at the heart of this camp. Xigera is located on an island and provides...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Deep in the Delta, surrounded by crystal-clear channels of water and lush vegetation, Xigera Camp is the quintessential Okavango experience. This blue-green world is home to a number of water-loving Okavango 'specials' including spotted-necked otter, Pel's fishing-owl, wattled crane and the Delta's highest concentration of the elusive sitatunga antelope. Situated on the aptly-named Paradise Island, the almostyear-round water makes this the ideal camp for exploring by motor boat and mokoro (dugout canoe) - an idyllic connection to a bygone era that allows silent and tranquil progress across waterlily-dotted waters. •10 tents (1 family) • mokoro • motorboat • game drives (water dependent) ... more   less
