This was the first place we stayed at on a 8 day safari with Sanctuary. The staff, food and accommodations are all 5 star. The tent is super nice and we didn't have a problem keeping bugs out at all. There is also a very nice full bathroom. You also have a porch and a hammock overlooking the flood plain....

I'd say this is more "glamping"...tented rooms but lovely cotton sheets on proper beds with heating pads...bedside lamps, safe, hair dryer, normal shower and toilet with door, electricity and even wifi....that said- there are bugs and spiders and heard a hyena on the path one night. Staff is wonderful, warm and friendly- service is great- laundry done same day, food...

This would only be good for nature lovers who enjoy camping, are not afraid of things that go bump in the night... It's a tented camp, has proper beds, ensuite with toilet and shower but there are also wild animals roaming around, so no midnight stroll here with out a guide. I loved this place as it was all natural...

Had no idea what we were in for. We were coming from Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero which was very luxurious. The tents were really nice, and not very buggy given the situation. The staff was great; very warm and friendly. We liked this safari location better than Chobe Chilwero because it was not crowded, and you could go off the road....

Sanctuary Stanley's was our only tented property of our Africa trip so it is hard to compare but this style isnt for me. Although it is a permanent tent with a flushing toilet, I was semi-scared at night that an elephant could come and crumple us and I thought the rooms/tents were small for a property of this distinction. However,...

Dear Hannah, Thank you for choosing to stay at Sanctuary Stanley's Camp, and for taking the time to leave us a review - it is much appreciated! While we are disappointed that we only received three stars, we appreciate that this style of safari does not suit everyone and fully accept your reasoning behind the rating. We would like to...

My daughter and I traveled to Stanley's Camp at the end of a wonderful few weeks in Africa. I didn't know what to expect but after all the wonderful experiences we had encountered, we should have known that the end would rival the beginning and middle. This was a lovely camp with all your amenities provided in the tents. The...

This is a simple tent camp that has everything you need. The staff was wonderful as was the food. The guides were incredible. I learned to track by watching footprints and animal scat. To hear the sounds of animals right next to your tent as you feel asleep, then to find giant elephant turds next to your front door in...

Stanley's is a lovely, friendly camp with great staff (and guides) and great food. But the Elephants Experience overshadows everything as it was the most amazing day in my not-short life. If you love eles, you MUST do this!

When we arrived at Stanley Airstrip our friendly guide Ally picked us up and served a welcome champagne. Stanley’s camp is nice, rather small, intimate, and quiet, the infrastructure is quite OK. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Our guide was great and so were the sightings during our two-days stay, amongst which white rhinos, our first wild dogs,...

We were there 2 days and was our first time in a safari and next to such animals. It's true that the amount of animals is not the same as in the Chobe river but enjoys the same variety and the two days that we were there we saw the same animals as in Chobe. The staff is fantastic and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sanctuary Stanley's is a classic tented camp with just eight tents built under an imposing African Ebony tree on a private concession overlooking the Okavango floodplains. Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is built on a 260,000 acre private concession in the renowned Okavango Delta. This traditional safari camp has a large lounge area and dining area with incredible views over the floodplains in front of camp. The main area features a bar from where refreshing drinks are always served with a smile, a small library area and curio shop. From the swimming pool - a real treat after a hot day of game viewing - guests can watch giraffe and other plains game march across the savannah and sometimes catch a glimpse of rare wild dogs. Everything about Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is built to the highest ecological standards so that we don't damage this highly sensitive area. The intimate camp features only eight safari canvas tents, each individually designed, furnished with African antiques that exude a classic and understated elegance that harks back to the explorers and colonialists of the 19th century. Each tent has a large wooden deck providing private areas where you can relax in a hammock while soaking in the surrounding sights and sounds or enjoy cocktails, before dinner is served in the spectacular dining mess. ... more   less
