#22 of 75 Speciality lodging in Okavango Delta
Rates from USD 885 per person per night. Xaranna nestles deep in the heart of Botswana’s game-rich Okavango Delta. With sweeping views opening up onto a seasonal lagoon, this light and airy camp enjoys luxurious solitude on its own Delta Island, within an exclusive 90,500-hectare (223,630-acre) wildlife concession. Xaranna is a delightful camp, with just nine ensuite safari tents that luxuriously combine canvas, soft drapes and bleached timber. You’ll love the romantic outdoor sala, private plunge pool, indoor bathtub and al fresco shower. The overall atmosphere of the camp is cool, light and airy, in keeping with the gentle beauty of its environment. Taking inspiration from the Delta’s profusion of water lilies, the camp’s pastel colour tones are a delicate spectrum of olive greens, lily pinks and a chic yellow hue. Views, views and more views: the guest areas are all carefully positioned to maximise the expansive views across the Delta to the distant silhouettes of Delta tree lines. The inviting guest sitting area boasts a spacious reading section – perfect for afternoon relaxation. The elevated dining area extends onto a shady veranda which in turn leads onto an open-air boma where candlelit dinners are served beneath the stars. Our well-stocked Signature Shop offers a range of chic outdoor gear, African art and jewellery.

We did 3 & Beyond camps in Botswana and they were all great. However Xaranna stood out for us. The staff were outstanding, from the passion of the wild life to the super meals we had. We felt really well looked after and saw some amazing game . We have done a few game parks across Africa before and for us this was by far the best game experience we had. Our game ranger Thuso and his tracker Johnson were outstanding. We saw everything we had dreamed of and on top of that their passion, knowledge and sense of humor made each outing a pleasurable event. I would really recommend doing the 3 & beyond camps we did , each was different but creating one great experience across Botswana . We went to Savute under canvas, Nxabega and Xaranna. The highlight was the tracking of the wild dogs.. We had amazing game viewing in general under great conditions and what fantastic scenery

We spent 3 days at Xaranna with two other couples. It was a fantastic experience. I’ve seen other reviews talk about the dry conditions but they haven’t noted the benefits. We were here in January, so all the animals had their newborn babies with them. We had 5 leopard sightings and followed a large pack of wild dogs attacking a group of Wildebeest (spellbinding). As noted, we shared our plunge pool with a large bull elephant and the wildlife around the camp was awesome as well. The staff at Xaranna did everything possible to make our time as enjoyable as possible. The food was varied and very well prepared, and you never went long without something to eat! The individual suites are very well laid out with three indoor sections - sitting area, bed area and large bath with indoor and outdoor showers. And the private plunge pool outside. Action and Shadrack were our guides and excellent trackers and Kenneth our butler who handled everything else. We would definitely come back, but I would certainly encourage you to consider a “non-flood” season as well. We loved it!

Premium priced camp, but not really our favorite experience of the 4 Camps we visited. Not their fault that there is no water, but without it I suspect it loses charm. The guide worked hard to find varied game, but it is quite spread out in these conditions. I will give him additional points for spending time talking to us before our first drive to find out what we’d already seen and wanted to see. Drives use a guide and tracker, which did not seem to actually provide a better experience than the other camps we had with just one guide. Tents were very nice inside, but spread in a long line away from main tent. We didn’t Ming sharing our plunge pool with the thirsty animals (by share I mean let them just enjoy). Pretty sure a baboon used the lounger too! Unlike other camps we visited, the different guests did not seem to interact. Almost unfriendly or aloof. Food was good and the lunches were great. They essentially serve lunch as a tastings. Took us a day to realize the guy helping us at meals was our assigned ‘butler’. Additionally, unlike all the other camps, when you went to the public areas there often was no one from the staff around if you needed something.

We recently stayed @ Xaranna for 3 Nights having enjoyed 6 nights on a Camping Safari in Savute / Chobe & Moremi. We flew into the Delta & then picked up our "Top of the Range Toyota" expertly driven by "Capt Easy" who transported us to Xaranna where we were greeted, as at every camp by Welcoming Drinks & Refreshing Towels along with an Intro to the Staff who would be looking after us during our Stay. The Camp was adjacent to a man made Watering Hole which attracted many Ellies & the occasional Hippo. Each Lodge had a plunge pool to relax in during the afternoon heat.....that is if you could encourage the Ellies to accept that your need was great er than theirs!!! No Chance but offered great Photo Opportunities. Jolande & her Team work miracles in a particularly remote location & I take my hat off to them. I note other criticism regarding the food, my only comment would be that Breakfasts were great with plenty of choice, lunch was often an African Themed Menu which wasn't perhaps to everyone's liking and Evening Meals were often choices. I have to say that with the amount of food available throughout our trip this wan't a major issue. Our Guide Capt Easy & his "Spotter KC did an amazing job in searching for & finding game & we throughly enjoyed our Adventure of a lifetime. Only slight comment would be that whilst the Individual Lodges were superb, they were alittle too busy n terms of Furniture for our liking. The African Dancing & Singing one evening memorable, especially Kenneth Dance moves. A Massive Thank You to &Beyond and Jolande @ Xaranna - Amazing Memories.

I don’t usually post reviews but I see that there has been recent criticism of food! We just left today 8 September and found the lodge to be excellent in every way . Yes it’s sad there is no water but the quality of the game viewing was amazing. The food is plentiful and delicious Early breakfast ,brunch if you want it ,lunch with sharing platters of all types, afternoon tea with savoury and sweet options, three courses at dinner with choices of red meat fish or chicken and vegetarian . Snacks available all the time Morning drive included cakes and other treats Sunset drinks also came with an array of lovely snacks. As to barbecues ...my two sons were happily served second helpings . Thanks Xaranna we would love to come back
