The place is located in the middle of the National park and it is the only hotel that is actually inside the park. The transfer picked us up from the airport on a very stylish doorless 9-seater SUV. The same car was used for safari. The hotel is almost wild, you can see warthogs and baboons just walking inside the hotel, next to the pool and restaurant. Elephants you can also see from the wooden promenade of the hotel. The hotel also has a private pier for boat game cruises. Both cars and boats are 100% electric, since the hotel cares about the environment. Rooms are very authentic and spacious. We lived in a suite, so apart from a living room and several extra beds in a neighboring room we had a private pool. Water, anti-mosquito and light snacks were included in the room as well as the minibar. Waiters in the restaurant are quite friendly but very slow. The food is good on all the courses - breakfast, lunch, dinner. Since we were a company of six, the hotel once arranged a special lunch for us on the terrace next to the river.
You can buy souvenirs inside.
Overall it was a great experience but the hotel needs renovation, I would make the service more efficient (if you stay at the restaurant or bar after 10 pm the staff gets nervous and you are hinted to go to the room). Such unique places deserves a bit better service.

Our three night stay at Chobe Game Lodge far exceeded our high expectations on every level. The accomodation was very well appointed, spacious and met all our requirements. All the managers and staff were extremely friendly, engaging and professional.
Our wildlife guide RB was amazing, searching down a variety of wildlife that we'd hope to see in our time there and so very knowledgable.
The use of eco friendly electric safari vehicles and watercraft is to be commended.
We also enjoyed our time spent on the lodge's riverside boardwalk, a great place for afternoon tea and to spot wildlife such as weaver birds, paradise flycatchers, hippos, crocs and much more.
Thanks to Ruth and her team for a great safari experience.

Special thank you to Mr Richard, our fantastic host at the lodge, Mrs Kate, our wonderful server who seemed to be ready for us all the time, and to Mrs Aria, our amazing game drive guide, she was so nice on every drive (land and river) and helped us see lions as we requested. We definitely saw plenty of lions, elephants, and crocs up close and personal thanks to Aria. We did also see many other land animals to include giraffes, lots of baboons, kudu, impala, warthogs, and zebras.

There were a few other very special things about this camp:
1. Guests have the option of doing land or river game drives, awesome! On our river drives with Aria, we did see plenty of crocs, hippos, lots of bird species, and many of the land animals coming to drink, including elephants, baboons, and lions.
2. Fully electric land rovers, yep! And fully electric, solar-powered boats, yep! So cool.
3. All of the guides and most of the service staff are women. Yea, the place is run by almost all women by design, a commitment by the owners to ensure women of Botswana are represented and have meaningful work. Also awesome!
4. The lodge and reserve location being right on the river REALLY lends itself toward guests being able to see many animals drinking, swimming, bathing, basking, etc. Great location with serene views. We saw something different every single day.

Why the 4-star review instead of 5-star?
We did not get to see the big 5 here. During the land game drives, the guides are not permitted to go off the main roads, so it was less likely to see leopards or other animals that are challenging to track/find. This is a place where you'll need to be ok with what luck brings you.

Dinner menu did not cater to Americans very well. While the selections we had were prepared well, we didn't have any favorites. Lunch and breakfast menus were great, no issues finding something to enjoy; the ham and cheese sandwich with bechamel is highly recommended.

Pest control... i get it, we're in the wild. But the rooms did not seem to have consistent pest control. There were lots of spiders, ants, and other bugs in our room from the day we arrived until we left. The manager and staff were very nice in helping us clean things up whenever we saw something, but they really need to employ a consistent pest control service. During our African vacation, we also stayed at the Simbavati Hilltop Lodge in Kruger Park, South Africa. The rooms there are tents and had little to no bugs at all. I think these guys can do better.

We would've given 4.5 stars here if we could've. Flaws were minor, we highly recommend this place.

Depending what you are looking for, this location is more a hotel than a camp or a Lodge with focus on game drives.
The hotel rooms are equipped with nearly everything you need, the decoration is very nice. There is a gift shop for souvenirs and the prices are reasonable. There is a foot path along the river where you can watch animals during daylight. For my purpose it was not what I expected/ had hoped. With the location given, within the park, I thought the game drive must be better and longer then from a camp from the outside. I was there for 3 Nights and was put twice to new drivers (2nd guide was much better then the first one) and groups, also only the 3 – to 3,5 hours game drives where offered not the longer once, plus short boat trips. One argument was that I am a single traveler?! The game drive was more “drive” than look out for game. Most of the times the same roads where taken. Sometimes it was more difficult not to find the game then to locate it.
If you found i.e. a Lion or Leppard the vehicles from the hotel (8 or more) hinder themselves and to get the car stopped at the right time/ place to get a good picture was seldom.
For me, not again. But if you are looking for a nice hotel in a good environment, lots of food and relax on the pool, with some game drives in addition - this is of course an option and your place to stay.

We stayed here 3 nights at the end of September 2022 in a Standard Room. The lodge has around 45 rooms and is located inside Chobe National park and right at the Chobe river. The stay includes all meals, drinks, laundry and “tours” by open fourwheel drive and normal boat. The wildlife experience is good and especially the elephants and lions are worth the visit.
Staff are very friendly and helpful and the guides (most of them females) are professional.
The rooms have a free minibar, water kettle and coffee an tea, a fan, airconditioning, WiFi and a spacious bathroom with an excellent shower. Breakfast buffet is good, lunch and dinner are excellent including various vegetarian choices.

We had THE BEST Customer service experience ever!!! I Highly recommend staying at this lodge. The room was spacious and immaculate, very tastefully decorated (flower petals on the bed💕). The a/c worked very well!

The game drives both on land and water were spectacular! Our Tour Guide Ms B. was phenomenal! She was our guide throughout our stay. Upon arrival we were greeted by the staff and given a nice cold drink and a cold lemon scented towel to wipe our faces. Ms. Grace displayed awesome hospitality and was able to schedule a special Eco tour for my husband. Shout out to Mr. Albert for such a wonderful Eco tour! The food was good. My husband would like to have seen a selection of wild meats on the menu.

I can’t say enough about this place! It’s a great place to just go and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with yourself or your loved one (s).

The accommodation is more like a 4* star hotel than a 4* camp in that it’s made of concrete instead of wood and canvas. The overall vibe is more corporate than that of the other camps we stayed at (Camp Moremi and Camp Okavango). The food was to a high standard particularly at dinner. Lunch is usually a buffet and you can have eggs made to order for breakfast. We had a dedicated waitress (Kate) who was v attentive.

We had a brilliant guide (KG) whose knowledge is excellent and she went out of her way to give us a good time. The boat trips were a highlight as we saw hundreds of elephants coming to the shoreline for water and swimming across to Namibia. The boats are also quiet and therefore v relaxing. We saw sunrise from the boat on the last morning which was magical. We saw a lot of hippos and crocs from the boat.

Off-road safari is not allowed at Chobe but we still saw lions as they obliged us by sitting on the road. It’s a busy place so expect to be competing with a lot of other jeeps but we got close to the lions on multiple occasions. Laundry is included and is returned on the day you give it to them. Don’t bring v expensive items to be washed as our shirts and t-shirts fade a little.
If it’s your first safari, bring layers as it’s v cold in the mornings and the wind from the jeep makes it colder but once the sun is high it’s v warm so you need to re,I’ve layers. We wore gloves and wool hats at the beginning of the drive and came back in sun hats and t-shirts.

Loved this lodge In the heart of the national park which is perfect for early morning and evening game drives and river cruising. Very comfortable rooms with view of the river and the Moroccan style decor suited the desert location. Food excellent and plentiful and a lovely plunge pool to cool off in the heat of the day. Staff were so friendly and helpful and I loved that all the guides where female! Wished we could have stayed longer.

We stayed here and the grounds are beautiful, nice rooms nice pools but

The service at restaurant was terrible, the servers would hardly come by to fill our wine glasses almost like they were told to save money

The safaris were very commercial they stick to the roads and can’t go off road. We also drove the same trail both days but there were other trails, same for boat rides. We had a guide who didn’t know much either.

The people working their were not very friendly either.

I would go elsewhere. We did other place like Camp Okavango and this was not very good.

About the lodge: Everything is really great, spacious and comfortable room, lots of food, great service ! Really, this lodge was perfect in terms of comfort ! The lodge is not composed of tents but it is composed of "real concrete" rooms. One can say tents provide a better experience (which is true) but after doing a lot of tents during our trip, we were happy to have a "non-tent" lodge which means mostly not cold in the night.

Our little disappointment is that the lodge is located in the north east of Chobe National Park (which is very wide). We didn't know first but this location is where you have a lot of tourists coming for the day. As a result, the safari is only"on-road" and you are not allowed to do "off-road". So you just follow the road hoping to see animals, you cannot really chase them. Therefore seeing animals is not as great as in other parts of Botswana. We went to Camp Moremi and wildlife/safari was incredible there. I've also heard Savuti and Khwai River area were great!
Also, you need to know something: if you want to see a lot of game, ask for more game drive and not boat cruise. Boat cruise is relaxing as you go on the Chobe River but you don't see a lot of things (elephants mainly).

In our 2 nights trip, we managed to see lions , elephants, kudus, impalas, warthogs, buffalos, but nothing compared to Camp Moremi (or Savuti I've heard). Impossible to spot hyenas and leopard during our stay. And remember, there is no rhino in Botswana except maybe on Chief's island in Moremi area (but it is really exclusive). So what to do? Chobe game lodge is not a bad choice as you have a lot of positive but as the rates are high you may want to opt for a different lodge in Botswana, just my opinion!
