What is Certificate of Excellence?
TripAdvisor gives a Certificate of Excellence to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers.
We arrived after the long drive, three hours from Cape town, to a wonderful friendly welcome. Our room was older and the cheapest offering, it was fine. The great thing was the view outside of the dam and scenery. The bird watching was amazing.

Getting to Bushmans Kloof involves a 3.5 hour drive northwest from Cape Town along increasingly empty roads and over a couple of spectacular passes. After the gate the gravel road takes you another 8km or so across a landscape that is very rugged, rocky and...More

Dear mfhunter,
We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time at Bushmans Kloof and look forward to hosting you again.
In terms of the activities, even though we do not have the big 5, we do have unique and endemic species on...More
Wonderful position with lovely views out to sea. The land is full of beautiful wild flowers and a sea trip is very worthwhile. Saw wales and dolphins, swimming seals and penguins. Food at the retreat was top quality and we were very well looked after.
We spent 2 nights here in the Cederberg mountains. This is top notch- food great- staff really good. We had early morning excursion yo see bushman paintings 1-10000 years old- amazing. There are pools- one heated i think- and the Spa- which we used- again,...More

Dear Blond_e005,
So glad you got to experience some of the magic of Bushmans Kloof.
Two nights is often not enough to take in all the activities and also some time to relax.
Hope to see you back in the Cederberg soon.
Kind regards
Stopped here for 3 nights on a western cape trip. It’s a retreat, not a big 5 safari lodge. As a result the clientele felt a little older and perhaps a little less inclined to get involved in all the activities on offer. For example;...More

Dear GrahamL-S,
Many thanks for your comments and glad you had some quality time on your own. The beauty of Bushmans Kloof certainly is in it's solitude and space.
We are certainly having a look at the High Tea and meals in general and hope...More

Good day Callan
The Cederberg is an oasis of different hiking routes from easy to difficult. At Bushmans Kloof we have two hiking trails. The Mountain Trail is an easy 3km trail and there are only a few places that you have to climb over rocks. The Ravine Trail, as the name suggests, is a 6km trail that goes through several ravines and is more challenging than the Mountain Trail. Both beautiful well marked trails where you can enjoy magnificent views of the landscape.
There are 10 - 15km hiking trails in the area and I would suggest that you contact Cape Nature in this regard. Unfortunately we cannot post html or website links in our reply.
Kind regards
