What a welcoming establishment. Leon & Denis have kept the wood finish throughout and this adds warmth and gives you a feeling of being home. You are made to feel at home from the time you walk through the door and have access to the stunning gardens which was exactly the type of rest that I needed after a long...

Hi Erika, Thank you for the nice review which is so appreciated. It is so nice when guests feel a part of our home which is the atmosphere we have created. Hope the tour went well and look forward to seeing you and James back in Barrydale one day. Kind Regards Leon and Denis

It's better to invest a few more dollars and sleep in a more clean place that put more attention into details (such as the existence of bugs in the trash can and dead flowers in the vase). The bathroom is tiny and generally it's not a place that you'll be happy to come back to.

Dear Ranly, Thank you for your feedback which we appreciate. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay in the twin bedded courtyard room. The building dates back to 1890 and as as it falls under the South African Heritage Act we cannot make the rooms or the bathroom any bigger. The bug in the room was a...

We loved our stay at the Tradouw Guesthouse. Leon is a warm and welcoming host, the rooms are very comfortable, and ours overlooked a beautiful garden full of birds and colour where we could relax. Reviews always say that guesthouses are "unique" but this place really, really is. I'd go back to Barrydale just to stay here.

We stayed here 4 years ago and although we didn't need to pass through Barrydale on this trip, we took a detour just so we stay at this delightfully eccentric guesthouse again! Leon is a friendly host without being overbearing. He'd booked dinner for us at Mez as the guesthouse doesn't do evening meals, and the food there was wonderful!...

This is a charming and friendly place. It is decorated in interesting ways and the garden is lovely. We had twin rooms, which were a bit cramped, but ok. It was very nice to sit in the garden. The host was very welcoming and caring.

What a lovely surprise! My partner and I stayed at this beautiful guesthouse this weekend. We loved the decor and atmosphere. We had a garden room with direct access to their beautiful garden. The room was well equipped and exceptional value for money. The location is good and within walking distance of most attractions. The hosts are fabulous;) We will...

This is a magnificent place that is so unusual in this contemporary age. The bar/dining room is full of collectables from bygone eras. The gardens are wonderful to sit and reflect on your day and Leon is a wonderful host. Charming, witty and very friendly. If you looking to stay in Barrydale book in here you won't regret it.

A lovely home away from home. Leon is an exceptional host, and strikes a wonderful balance, where friendly helpfulness never intrudes. Highly recommended. Trip advisor is being dictatorial and insisting that I keep typing until such time as it feels that I have done a good enough job. I don't like trip advisor telling me what to do.

It is always the worst thing for me to sleep somewhere other than my own house. But at Tradouw I don't have that concern at all. The rooms are always spotless and comfortable; and I tend to sleep as if i'm at home. The hosts Leon and Dennis are always friendly and welcoming and leave no stone unturned to make...

During our journey on the Route 62 we arrived late in the evening in Barrydale and we were very glad to find this small questhouse. The reception is very lovely furnished. The rooms behind the mainhouse look like rebuilt horse boxes. Thats very charming. Behind the rooms is a very big beautifull garden. Barrydale is a very nice place for...
