The Inn hosted us splendidly for the Dullstroom Wine Festival, and their trout breakfast was simply super. Quaint old building with delightful shops, friendly owners, slick staff, nice indoor/outdoor vibe, - well worth a visit.

The rooms are old and in need of an upgrade, the beds are basic with very thisn foam matresses, the bathrooms are... More

I came in out of curiosity but was very pleasantly surprised when we got it. There is restaurant, sweet shop, toy store and small book shop. Found a few book gems, manage to almost skip the sweet shop and get great vegetable soup as a take away. Great service all round. Lovely quirky place to go to

Love coming back for the experience, 'old school' menu with some of your favourites (burgers etc) and what you would expect in Dullstroom (trout) but also what you would not expect 'pap & work' (although if you have a cholesterol problem - wouldn't recommend this dish (see attached pic). The ambience, the decor, the food, the sweet shop within are... More

The restaurant wasn't busy but we waited over an hour for our food. When it finally arrived the quality was good, with the exception of the vetkoek, which was soggy. The bobotie was good but the accompanying rice not. I wouldn't eat here again.

We waited for over an hour and a half for the food to arrive as the gas was apparently 'finished' --- lack of good management in high season??? ---- too few staff???? The toy and sweet shop is an attraction but find another place to eat if you are in a hurry. Otherwise food was good and worth a wait.... More

It is not "the nicest place to stay", but it has a certain atmosphere. The brick walls speaks of history. Our room looked like it could have 80 years ago: whitewashed walls, bathroom in raw bricks, plaid blankets on the beds and a hearth in the corner. It was cold in the night. There is a good restaurant on the... More

After a very busy day and long drive, pop into Old Transvaal Inn because it looked so inviting and different. Love the homely feeling and the excellent service we received. We had the traditional savoury "vetkoek" very tasty and filling. Also a lovely sweet shop filled to capacity of all my favourite sweets yummie. Really my meal here and will... More

The staff were very hospitable. It did take a while to get served though. We tried their burger and chips. The food came out the kitchen in average time. Not the greatest burger or chips to be fair. We most likely won't be back. The decor suits the vintage theme. All in all it was an enjoyable evening. Don't expect... More

Went to have breakfast, waited over an hour and they weren't even busy. The manageress eventually came to the table promising the food would be at our table in 5 minutes, 25 minutes later we got our food, cold and burnt. Even the waitress has attitude. Would never go back or recommend this place
