Thank you to the team for a wonderful two night getaway. We will be back with the whole family in the not too distant future. Great outdoor venue in the mountains with abundant natural beauty. The walk to the waterfall is a must.

Some important things that didn't work for us. We admittedly arrived very late, & the 4.4 km horror dirt road up the mountain easier I'm sure in daylight. But whatever you do, if you don't have a 4x4 don't even think about it. Dodgy directions made end stage quite stressful. Forest Creek is an hour's drive from Dullstroom - 24km...

Eileen thank you for your input. You are correct we are not in Dullstroom, (A question often asked is where are you? Our reply is, if one was in Dullstroom and "jumped off the mountain", you would land in our gorge. Dullstroom is 60ks and Lydenburg is 35km away) This is clearly posted on our web site. I know that...

Take time off your busy schedule, so something different, something you don't get to do on a daily basis. Go hiking up in the mountains and breath the freshest air there is in Gauteng. Get in touch with nature and enjoy meals prepared by you or your spouse. The lodge does have a small restaurant if you're not willing to...

Hey it was an absolute pleasure to host you both, I am so glad that you both had a blast, even thought the weather was raining during your stay, we are currently praying for more rain, but luckily all our trees are evergreen and it is still looking good, the waterfall is still flowing in the 14 years that we...

We hadn't seen in each other in a while and things were not as smooth as we wanted them to be so we decided to go for some US time, reconnect and talk things through. This place provided us the serenity and tranquility and privacy we needed for that purpose. It's a beautiful establishment at the top of the mountain....

We arrived after sunset and the awaiting log fire in the main lodge was such a welcome relief from the cold. Room amenities in the Cinnamon Suite were beautiful and immaculate. Tea and Coffee setting in the room was an absolute delight with Brit-style detail and elegance. The bathroom was spacious with a double sink vanity and claw foot tub...

Not good value for money. Facilities and activities lacking - no clay pigeon shooting and trout fishing as advertised. Access road is in a very bad state, even for a 4x4 vehicle. Staff friendly. Hike to waterfall worthwhile. Will not recommend this lodge to friends and family.

HJ thank you for taking the time to write this review. To clarify we do not advertise Trout fishing on our web site currently, as we are waiting for a permit, due to new Government regulations regarding the fishing zones, there is Trout trout fishing in the area, which we can offer temporarily, until we sort out our new permit....

If good coffee and wi-fi/cellular reception is not important to you, this place would suit you. It has good scenery and nice food, small private units in the bush create a sense of being close to nature. I would definitely not classify it as a luxury breakaway. The pricing is not in line with what is offered. The road up...

Andrew thank you for taking the time to write the review on us, all input is always appreciated, it helps us realise your perception as a guest. This is our second visit to the lodge. Our first visit was as a couple in 2013 and this one, as a family. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Forest Creek nestles in a gorge of the Steenkampsburg Mountains, which is the end of the Drakensberg Mountain range. Set in a Private Nature reserve of the Mpumalanga escarpment. The gorge is softened only by a blanket of shrubs and trees which have grown in this malaria-free zone over millennia. It is only when one gets to the gate of Forest Creek Lodge that the rock-strewn grassland is left behind, one climbs up, and up, and enter this little enchanted world. This winter come and enjoy some good food and wine snuggled in front of our log Fireplaces, and go home feeling indulged On this magnificent piece of land we hope we have catered for everyone, from Luxury guest suites at the main lodge* to the Forest Cottage, Bee Eater, The Beach Cottage & Sunbird self catering options. During the cooler months, come and enjoy the Big Fireplace in the Lodge Lounge. There are hiking trails along the stream under the canopy of trees. Treat yourself to an hour or two of relaxation in our Forest Spa ... more   less
