Critchley Hackle is a long standing, favourite stopover when we travel to the bush. The setting around the dam is beautiful and very tranquil especially after a hectic day in Johannesburg! I do feel the cottages at the back need a bit of a revamp as they are looking a bit tired. On the fishing side I also don't agree...

The Critchley Hackle remains a stunning hotel with a great setting and good food. We were very impressed with the GM he immediately made a plan when he discovered the booking we made through the online service was never downloaded to their system. We were upgraded to one of the Royal Suites at no additional cost. That is what one...

We had a great time there, and the scenery was very picturesque however there were a few small things that could be improved on like the couch and bed in the one room that needed repairs, etc. Overall a wonderful time with a good breakfast and a lovely fire place.

What a beautiful hotel! Service was great. Room with fireplace was very special. Breakfast was very nice. Just a pity we cant say the same of our dinner. No atmosphere, it was cold but none of the fireplaces were on. Only a set menu. Meat were tuff. Definitely not up to standard. Not for the price . A fully booked...

The garden cottage had no view. The gardens were unkept. pool was green. Breakfast was disappointing. No one available for fly fishing lessons. No fire lighters or matches in the room. Duck poo all over the garden and verandas, which has not been cleaned for a while. Overall unimpressed!

The rooms are splendid, as is the setting. Major downside: the restaurant. Whilst they tried hard to make an appearance of an upmarket restaurant, the food was average at best and the waiter's performance even worse. No knowledge of the wine list, no bread and butter served before meal (even though other table's did get some), cutlery missing, etc. We...

So many cosy places to stay at in Dullstroom, but we definitely hit the jackpot with the Critchley Hackle Hotel.. Cosy stone cottages with an open plan lounge, tv, coffee station, spacious en-suite bathroom with a shower, bath and double basin, and two bedrooms ! The cottages overlook onto a peaceful dam and one can use the hotel's fishing gear...

We spent one night here driving from the Kruger to Johannesburg. We had a comfortable room and enjoyed a lovely dinner and breakfast. The staff were very pleasant. We would have been happy to spend longer here.

Lovely place and grounds. Stunning surroundings. Rooms very comfortable , with en suite bathroom, bath and shower. There is a fire place in the rooms, but we did not need that as it was very hot. Food was a little disappointing and pricey . We were there for Christmas night dinner, and were served the left overs from the Xmas...

A most pleasant venue, you are always made to feel very welcome. Comfortable and classy chalets in delightful grounds. A lake that you can fish or take a walk round. A nice touch is that your car is cleaned before you leave. An evening meal is available and is of the highest quality.
