I really hate giving poor reviews to places I have stayed over many years of travel to South Africa but for me Critchley Hackle lost its shine about 3 years ago. For years I use to stay here on my way to Kruger National Park - the village of Dullstroom was always enchanting with beautiful scenery and some quaint shops...

This is such a tranqual and romantic place to spend some time. The buildings are beautiful and the staf friendly and very helpful. Treat your love one with a weekend at Chritchley. You can even try your hand at fly fishing. Dullstroom is a very popular place to visit and you can have a stroll around all the shops.

I booked this hotel for a birthday weekend. The room was lovely - large yet cosy with a fireplace, couch and chair and just so delightful. Our fire was lit for us by a staff member at 6 p.m.and as the weather was really cold it made such a difference. Must say there were electric blankets on the beds too....

Stayed here just one night. I stayed at one of the 4 units/independent houses and did not check thru the front lobby. The place is beautiful and the you hear nature right outside your door (you will hear the white ducks at night and also early in the morning). There are beautiful flowers on the grounds that were just about...

This is a quaint hotel complex, although when we visited it was very quiet and un-atmospheric. The room was comfortable, although a little strange with the single beds in the sitting area, and a glass door between this room and the main bed area. The fire place was nice, and certainly kept us warm - pity the staff didn't light...

Critchley is cute and cosy if you get a recently renovated room overlooking the picturesque pond. Our first rooms (tower rooms) were extremely run down, with filthy dirty carpets and bathroom that needed to be updated already quite some time ago. Never seen such quality above 2 star hotel! This was not acceptable at a 4 star hotel so we...

After almost thirty years it is still a wonderful place to stay! Comfortable room with a beautiful view over the lake....all though the beautiful trees are chopped off! A very nice breakfast with a great choice and all in all good value for money!

We stayed in a garden cottage. It was very comfortable and cosy. We walked into the town for dinner and returned to a warm room with the fireplace made up for us. We slept well as the bed was comfortable and it was peaceful and quiet. While we had breakfast our car was washed - what a treat! We would...

We wanted to spend an afternoon, evening and morning in Dullstroom and this came up best for families. Room was great, clean, comfy and great bathroom. All we needed. We met friends elsewhere for supper but used the bar for pre dinner drinks. Staff were great and no issue to give our friends access to wifi even though we were...
