There is not a thing about this place that they are getting wrong! Perfect for our first visit & introduction to this beautiful area. Everything (food, rooms, facilities, activities) at the lodge is a perfect balance between - luxurious but not starched. Relaxed and unpretentious, yet you feel thoroughly spoilt & in such a beautiful location. All levels of staff...

Loved the lakes, canoeing on the river and walks. Meals were great (set menus but delicious), guides were excellent (in particular PQ). Rooms were quite basic. Outdoor activities and location made up for rooms. Generator runs from 7 in the morning to 10 at night which is more than adequate.Smoking should not be allowed in the public areas in the...

Dear ShirleyBenny, Thank you very much for your positive feedback. We are particularly pleased that you enjoyed the meals, activities and location. All in all it was a nice stay, but compared to other places we stayed at during our trip, it felt a little overpriced for what we got in rooming and service. The rooms were clean and the additional bathroom outside was nice, but basic. You do not have electricity during the night, but oil lamps and torches are supplied,...

Wanting to explore Northern KZN, but keen for a more luxurious experience, we settled on Kosi Forest Lodge as a well-positioned base from which to visit the area. The first thing that you realise on arriving here is that it better be good, because there really is nowhere to go once you step off the 4x4 that picks you up...

Nicely build in the sand forest. Lots of birds. Pool with a fantastic view of a pan, hippos walk around at night. Staff excellent, food although set menu, was superb. Walking and canoeing with PQ the guide, was most interesting and we learned a lot about trees and local birds.

Sometimes glamping is so removed from the natural environment that you may as well stay in a hotel. Not this one. This is the “real deal” in terms of close contact with nature, of course combined with a good dose of plush comfort. Rustic and beautiful tents on raised wooden platforms in a nature reserve, Kosi Forest Lodge gives a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Kosi Forest Lodge is a 16 bed lodge fenced into the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, an internationally recognised World Heritage Site. We provide a snug and intimate base from which guests can explore this extraordinary area of splendour and diversity, or relax surrounded by incredible natural beauty. The lounge, dining room and bar extend into a large, wooden deck built in the shade of an enormous Zulu Podberry tree, and we take full advantage of Maputuland’s sultry weather with most meals served alfresco on the deck or sheltered beneath large Albizia trees. We have carefully positioned the thatched bush suites in the sand forest for privacy and peace under the canopy of shady trees. Low wooden bedroom walls with mosquito netting and roll-up canvas blinds allow for maximum views of the surrounding forest, and arguably the lodge’s most popular feature is the romantic, open air, en-suite bathroom set in white beach sand and enclosed by a reed boma. ... more   less
