The Blue Swallow Motel is a classic Motor Court established in 1939 on historic Route 66, and one of few anywhere still operating in its original configuration. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and retain an authentic feel from the heyday of route 66 travel. Premium creature comforts including ultra-comfortable mattresses, spa-like towels, and Desert Breeze organic shampoo, soap, and lotion. Many of the rooms include a garage to make you feel more at home while you are on the road, and these are perfect for parking your motorcycle or classic car for the night. All rooms are non-smoking. Just might be the best place that I ever stayed! Not the biggest, not the fanciest but the most iconic. Original Route 66 charm, awesome owners and you will meet some of the best people ever by sitting in the motor court. Safe and close to resturants. I will now make a point to come back just to stay here!

Such a cool cool place!!from the owners to the room to the music played while sitting outside enjoying a drink! I would most definitely stay here again! Rooms were clean! Beds were comfortable. Laundry facilities available.

This motel is fun overnight stay. Much nicer than cookie cutter options. Each unit with own garage and outdoor seating area. Easy to meet fellow travelers from all over country and even Europe. Clean comfortable and cozy.

I don’t even know where to begin, this place is a must stop for the evening. You will meet friends you never knew here as you sit outside and listen to the streaming music. The owners will personally show you to the room and you can park your car in the garage by it. You can listen to the radio stream about the place, or make a phone call on a rotary phone, which is a party line! And the bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve slept on in my whole weeks worth or trip so far. Don’t miss this stop for the evening, if you can get in!

This motel is so cute and so well kept — in the 50’s with a dial phone! Even chenille bed spreads. The owners take great pride in the property and it shows. You are escorted to your room and told a little about it as well as about the motel. Most units have a little garage space. The owner even cleaned out a space with a concrete floor for some bikers to park under cover. Everything is done right here and the neon is great!

So glad we decided to stay in this iconic motel, and glad we chose the Lilian Redmond suite as it had a separate lounge area. All the furniture is a real blast from the past right down to an old dressing table and candle wick bedspread. The wifi isn’t the best, but we were only there for one night. We really enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard in the evening chatting to the other guests, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a washer and dryer on-site (though I actually hung our stuff on the outdoor line to dry as it was really warm and windy). Cost is only five dollars. Thanks to Robert and Dawn who are really trying to make a go of the Blue Swallow…so nice to see it doing well when others nearby have closed down.

This place has had it's up's and down's since it was built in 1939. It's a great story that you will have to get from Robert ... the current owner. All of the rooms with their garages have been restored and are beautiful. It is obviously a labor of love. Seeing this place at nite with all of the neon is unforgettable.

This place was the coolest motel around! It was a last minute overnight stay as part of a long family road trip. The owners were a pleasure to deal with, even walked us around and gave us a personal history tour. I highly recommend staying here!!
