Try something different tonight! Travel just a short distance away from the I-40 off-ramp to experience the best of the past, with old-fashioned hospitality that is all too rare these days. The Blue Swallow Motel is a classic Motor Court established in 1939 on historic Route 66, and one of few anywhere still operating in its original configuration. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and retain an authentic feel from the heyday of route 66 travel. Premium creature comforts including ultra-comfortable mattresses, spa-like towels, and Desert Breeze organic shampoo, soap, and lotion. Many of the rooms include a garage to make you feel more at home while you are on the road, and these are perfect for parking your motorcycle or classic car for the night. All rooms are non-smoking. One of the best neon displays on Route 66! Come spend a memorable night and experience the home-style hospitality of a bygone era at the Blue Swallow Motel!

This place has had it's up's and down's since it was built in 1939. It's a great story that you will have to get from Robert ... the current owner. All of the rooms with their garages have been restored and are beautiful. It is obviously a labor of love. Seeing this place at nite with all of the neon is unforgettable.

This place was the coolest motel around! It was a last minute overnight stay as part of a long family road trip. The owners were a pleasure to deal with, even walked us around and gave us a personal history tour. I highly recommend staying here!!

We had a group on ten rooms and all of us loved the beautiful Ble Swallow. The attention to detail of this Route 66 motel was awesome. To sitting outside of your room to parking your car in the car port. Everything was wonderful. The email communications were also very quick, and all my questions were answered right away. Thank you, Rob and Dawn we would definably stay again! The Corvette Group.

Loved, loved our stay! Rob was extremely welcoming and helpful. The room was amazing with all the original furnishings, fixtures including the working rotary phone. Enjoyed the music and neon lights all evening into the night. A must stay when in Tucumcari!

Another great stay at the Blue Swallow Motel. We love getting off the interstate and staying here for a night. People sit outside the rooms and talk! Watch the neon come on and listen to the music. The owners are the best and ready to help in anyway. I also get a kick out of the “100% Refrigerated” vintage sign out front. New restaurants in town too.

Don't pass this place up. My sister's and I did a route 66 trip. Mom and pop motel. Super Cute! The highlight of my trip. 1940's themed. Music piped in the parking lot. Sitting in front of your room conversing with fellow travelers "neighbors" encouraged. Owners live onsite. It is super impressive how CLEAN our room is. I cannot impress how CUTE and PERFECT this motel is!! Even has a dog in the lobby. SUPER and reasonably priced!

My husband and I stayed here two years ago, and when we planned a cross country road trip with our granddaughter, it was the first place we booked. The owners have worked really hard to ensure the authenticity of the place. We love the original furniture and bathrooms. This trip we sat outside on vintage patio chairs and played one of the board games we grabbed at the office. Coffee and dog petting happened right at 6:30am. Remarkably well-priced. We love this place and will be back.

It's so much fun to stop here. It was our 2nd visit, this time in our Challenger and the first time in our Trans Am. The adjoining garages keep your car safe in case of inclement weather. Sure enough, it rained (with hail too) that night. The room itself is comfortable but is definitely on the smaller side so please be aware of that. We had room #5 which we liked very much. The owners are delightful and ultra helpful. Our TV didn't work and it was re-booted in no time. The owners are well versed in the motel's history and it is so enjoyable to hear about it. We appreciate the effort to keep this historic motel alive and well and we are pleased to stay here. Hopefully another Rte 66 trip will be in the works.

Cool spot. A photo at every turn. Rooms crisp and clean. Just be sure to pay attention when Rob explains how the 85-year-old door locks work; one wrong move and the lock goes inoperable. Friendly Rob the proprietor turns into Pissed Off Rob when lock life goes south … he made us live with a door that wouldn’t close our entire stay! Kid you not. Door wouldn’t even close, let alone lock. Good thing crime is low in the area. Yikes!

This was our favorite place we stayed on Route 66. We almost left Tucumcari because we didn’t like the town. Then we checked in to The Blue Swallow and found Tucumcari’s rainbow - literally! A rainbow appeared to confirm that we had found the pot of gold. Most comfortable bed ever!!
