We stayed at the Bush House in May '16. The location is wonderful with a great view of a waterhole from the garden. The staff were very pleasant and the food excellent. We had a late afternoon and an early morning game drive and saw many animals, but were particularly pleased with our first sighting of African wild dogs. I...

Very nice lodge, comfortable bedrooms, large bathroom, quiet, nice food. The waterhole is really a plus, you can admire elephants or other animals while drinking a coffee. The staff is really friendly, you feel like you are part of a familly. It was our last weekend in a reserve in South Africa, it was a good choice. Excellent weekend.

It is difficult to put into words what a fantastic experience my wife had during our stay at the Bush House. Our room was spacious and clean, the bed very comfortable, and house keeping made everything very special. The food was all prepared very well and the chef accommodated the guests various dietary needs. Each dinner was at a different...

The Bush House keeps improving year after year, just like a good wine. But far from sitting shelved the Bush House offers both families, couples and solo travellers a family welcome and a plethora of activities to always be well entertained, cared for and looked after. The food is plenty and wholesome, unlike other lodges where you are being stuffed...

We returned to The Bush House after 3 weeks travelling through Southern Africa. This was our third visit and we knew it would be the perfect place to end our trip. The wonderful thing about the Bush House is that you genuinely feel you are staying as house guests with very good friends. The rooms are beautifully appointed without being...

It is always such a delight having you stay with us and we cannot wait to see how the grandchildren have grown. Global warming is a huge issue affecting everyone and most interesting to have your feedback on the impact it has had on the reserve in the last two years. We have just had some great rains in the...

From the moment we arrived we felt that this was going to be a great stay. It is a small lodge, perfect rooms, fantastic food and the owners and staff are so friendly. They go out of their way to make your stay memorable. From my first contact with Sue I knew I was in for a great trip at The Bush House and I was not disappointed! I had a great safari seeing four of the big five (didn't see a Leopard) plus Cheetah, Wild Dogs, and both species of Hyena. The staff was fantastic and the lodging, food, grounds, and vehicles were...

This was our first time to go on an African Safari and it was everything we could have hoped for and more. Being able to sit in the blind and watch animals come to the watering hole was just one of the many highlights. The staff went above and beyond to take care of us. We kept saying how POSH...

Thank you for your feedback and we are so happy that your first African Safari was spent with us at The Bush House. Watching the elephants whilst swimming or sitting down in the hide certainly does add to the experience. We look forward to your next visit.

We had this joke during our stay at The Bush House among guests that no one would write reviews because this Lodge was like finding a diamond in the rough and would be best kept a secret. Im stuck for words as our stay was absolutely phenomenal. We are Canadians and spent about four weeks travelling around SA. For this...

I have stayed at The Bush House several times now - most recently for 10 days this month - and it really is a "home away from home." It is a small lodge, so you are always treated as an individual and rapidly become part of the Bush House family. For the last two years I have spent my birthday...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Safari isn’t just safari anymore…. And game lodges aren’t all alike. Every visit really does need to be special and every moment something to be remembered forever. The Bush House is not your typical Game lodge. The Lodge is set in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve. It is an old farmhouse that after years of family laughter and happiness has been transformed into an inviting and relaxing residence that encourages guests to kick off their shoes and unwind. ... more   less
