The Kwandwe team were all so professional, knowledgeable and attentive during our stay of 3 nights at the Great Fish River Lodge. The staff has been very well trained! Nothing was too much! All was done with smiles! The room was stunning with views of the river below us. The amenities were very complete. The bathroom was large and so...

My husband & I were lucky enough to stay at both lodges a few months ago. We booked 1 night at Ecca and 3 at GFRL (only because GFRL wasn't available for all 4 nights & we thought we'd prefer that as it was more adult oriented). However when we arrived at Ecca there was only us and one other...

Most amazing experience ever! My husband and I had the absolute time of our lives at Kwandwe and wish we could've stayed much longer than 3 days. Our ranger, Ruan, was so knowledgeable, fun and passionate, and his excitement was contagious and his love for animals extremely evident. Vusi, our tracker, was also incredible and we were all in awe...

We stayed at Kwandwe for 3 nights. We had the most wonderful time. This is our first safari. The Rooms are large and in keeping with the surroundings. They have a plunge pool and sun beds and a outside shower. There is a large indoor shower and bath to. But the best thing is the safari. We saw all the...

From the moment we arrived at the great river lodge, we were made to feel so welcome by everyone and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had the best experience ever. The rooms were fabulous and very spacious, with our own private decking area with plunge pool etc. How wonderful to be able to open...

62,000 acres of fertile hills and valleys with a plethora of animals to share the day with. We stayed in a stand alone villa complete with a private lap pool, sun deck and outdoor shower (don't worry there's also an indoor shower plus a clawfoot bathtub). The setting is spectacular with long range views and a river running by the...

Words cannot explain just how fantastic this place is. We stayed for four days and wished it was a lot longer. The lodge is amazing and caters for everything you could possibly want with fantastic views and plunge pool. The food is fabulous and as for the drives on safari with a great ranger Nic and spotter Sakhi tops it...

We stayed at Kwandwe for 4 nights and I can honestly say, they were the best 4 nights we have ever had!! From start to finish Kwandwe moved above and beyond our expectations. From the friendly staff who wave you in and greet you with drinks/hot towels, to the managers checking in you are having a great time, to the...

We just spent three wonderful nights here and it was every bit as lovely as we had hoped for. Friendly, highly efficient lodge staff; excellent ranger and tracker team in Ryan and Sita, a delightful bungalow overlooking the gorge. What more could we ask for? Well the traditional style upgrade with central column and fires was very attractive; the food...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This founding lodge with only 9 privately situated suites features a classic-contemporary style of simple elegance that embraces the lodge's splendid setting high up on a steep bank overlooking the Great Fish River. The colour scheme comprises a calm and natural palette of earthy tones, from khaki browns to charcoal greys.Pewter and glass add an effortless yet understated glamour to the furnishings; artefacts such as ostrich eggshells, hides and horns create subtle points of interest and relevance to the lodge's surrounds, whilst natural linens and plenty of texture preserve its simple but sophisticated atmosphere.Watch majestic kudu meander down to the river from the Lodge's expansive viewing decks, or observe playful Cape clawless otters swimming in the cool waters below from the comfort of your private balcony. Suites are spacious and feature en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers, personal in-room bars and private decks with plunge pools overlooking the vast reserve. ... more   less
