This was our second visit to Columbus and the Los Milagros Hotel. This quiet border town has such an interesting history, and this hotel is the perfect place to use as your base camp. Philip is a great host, and the Hotel is like staying at a friend's home. Very comfortable and pleasant. We stayed two nights, which gave us...

We stayed here only for a night. We came as a group, so we ended up getting all 5 rooms. It was a very cozy lovely hotel. Philip and his staff were so friendly and nice and helpful. The cost was very reasonable.Lots of coffee and tea and snacks to nibble. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends...

In the middle of not much - a nice mini-hotel with pleasant patio. Attentive hotelier. Local museums with Pancho Villa history - but not much else. Easy to cross to Palomas, Mexico - with the depressing air of plenty a border town. But we were directed to a very nice family restaurant - La Fiesta. FYI - the several restaurants...

Los Milagros Hotel (formerly Martha's Place) is a Fabulous Find. I highly recommend it for anyone traveling Southern New Mexico. Plan to spend an extra day and enjoy the tranquility. Phil was gracious enough to provide the taxi service across the border for dinner that night. Phil and his family have created a very inviting space. It's clean and has...

Absolutely loved my stay at Los Milagros (new name). Philip, Dianne, and Mathew were gracious hosts. Room was clean and spacious. After a miserable night sleeping in the rain along Highway 9, the bed was a dream. Highly recommend this small hotel in Columbus. Will certainly mention them in my next book, about walking the length of the US MEXICO...

Mark is an amazing man!!! If you can imagine walking the entire length of the U.S.-Mexico Border. The first day I picked him up he had been walking all day in the rain and had spent the previous night camping out in the rain. We felt blessed to have played a small part in his adventure.

We stayed at Los Milagros Hotel (formerly Martha's Place) in mid-October this year on a tour of New Mexico, and we visited Columbus to learn more about the fascinating history of this tiny border town. It was a pleasant surprise. Philip's hotel was the most comfortable and nicest place we stayed during our time in New Mexico. It felt more...

Phil was such an amazing host to us. We got in touch with him as we read another review which mentioned him arranging a ride somewhere. He arranged a lift for us to Albuquerque which was incredibly reasonably priced. We didn't actually stay at Martha's Place but Phil still took us across the border for dinner to a place he...

I read reviews of the area and Los Milagros Hotel (formerly Martha's Place) before booking my stay. I arrived to find an amazing place. The warm, comfortable atmosphere set the stage for a wonderful stay. The room was equally inviting and comfortable. Be sure to spend a little time on the patio in the back. Need anything? Ask Phillip. Los...

We finished a Great Divide Mountain bike ride in Columbus at Martha's place. Philip was very helpful and arranged reasonable transportation to El Paso. The place was nice and all the arrangements worked well. I'd recommend Columbus and Martha's place for the end or start of a GDMBR.

If you want to find traces of the Mexican revolution this is an absolut must!!! Bring your history books and graspwhere it all took place. Think about that even the later famous General Patton crossed these streets and shook hands with Pancho Villa as a Lt of Gen Pershing's division. Martha's place is excellent, and enjoy your talk with Phlip...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dear Traveler, Columbus, New Mexico is rich in history, going back 1000 years to the time that the different Indian civilizations traveled from one community to another and passed through this area, to more recently when Pancho Villa raided Columbus in 1916. Today we are the border's best kept secret. We offer easy access to and from Mexico and some very significant tourist destinations south of the border. We invite you to stay with us and let us help you to discover some of the great places to visit just a few hours south. We offer free travel advice and help across the border or professionally guided tours for those that want an insider's view to the area. Whether you are here on business or pleasure you will find Martha's Place Hotel is a great resource for local information and planning. While you are here there is plenty to entertain you; spend time shopping and eating fine Mexican cuisine at the famous Pink Store in Palomas, Mexico (it's just three miles to the south of us), or meander through our historical walking tour, Pancho Villa State Park & Train Depot museums, and the old Columbus jail. All located just a stone's throw away from the front door of the hotel. Our doors are always open, and the welcome mat is always out at Martha's Place Hotel, in the historical village of Columbus, New Mexico. We look forward to seeing you!
