Just had to go to my wife's office Christmas party. Oh dreads. JK. Had not done this at the "Lodge" in 4 years. My wife did have the foresight to book a room same night which was good because dinner party lasted a little while and with extra spirits and gifts twas easy to shif

My husband and I have celebrated 30 plus anniversaries at The Lodge. We just completed an overnight stay for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. We will never return.
The Lodge has always had it's better days, but the old school ambiance was always a draw for our romantic ideals.

We have just completed a two-night stay at the Lodge in Cloudcroft. A friend of mine referred us to the Lodge for a weekend vacation. Based on what I’ve been able to read about the history of the building, the Lodge was at one time the centerpiece of Cloudcroft. Today, the Lodge

Hotel amazing, food and beverages great. Staff friendly and accommodating.
Room was the last one on the 3rd floor queen bed, bathroom, small but cozy. If you can handle the stairs it's great. Will be back for 1st floor room. Had dinner twice and brunch at Rebecca's. French toast

I wouldn't think this would be too terribly popular for those who expect technology and streamlined amenities. The pace is slow, the stay is more about the past than the future. That being said, it's lovely. The lobby (if you call it that, more of a hallway) could use a little

Would you have pictures of the retreat area? If so do you mind sharing them. I have requested from the hotel a few times but the staff has not been able to email them to us.
if you will google the hotel it shows a lot of pictures internally and ex... Foxtrox

When I read these reviews where people complain that the hotel is "old" I wonder what they are expecting at a 100+ year old hotel? Do you mean old amenities, outdated, not working, shoddy electrical?
Not at all. The A/C is great and there are electrical outlets in more than one place in the room. It is an old hotel of course, built in 1899 but the plumbing and (thank God!) electrical systems are modern. We recharged our iPad, phones, etc. with no trouble beyond having to unplug a lamp on one occasion. By "old" expect quaint, not antiquated!

My husband and I are planning an overnight getaway to Cloudcroft and are staying at The Lodge. We have made reservations for a King room and were told we would be on the first floor. Do you have King rooms on the first floor that offer a view of the mountains and/or valley, and are these rooms recently remodeled or updated? How do these rooms compare in size to those on other floors? And how quiet are first floor rooms?
We stayed in a king room but it didn't have a view of much of anything except beautiful snow out the window. Really loved this place though. Lots of history and even a ghost. The room was adequate size too.

Some past guests of The Lodge Resort posted that there was no free breakfast. Is breakfast free or not? Thank you.
No the breakfast is not free. But I can tell you that the breakfast is great whatever u order. Also you don't have to eat breakfast there if you don't want to. There are other places in Cloudcroft that have great breakfast. If I am correct, there are is no frig in the rooms. It has been a while since my wife and I stayed there. I know either way you will very comfortable staying there either way. Have fun and enjoy.

are there mini frig in first floor rooms? And is breakfast free?
You'll have to check with the hotel on mini-fridges but my guess would be no. There is no free breakfast.
