I stayed in this lodge with my parents long, long ago. Our room was clean and spacious. We were in the motel section. The TV channels did not work well, nor did the wifi. That being said, we happily did without them anyway. The lodge is on the Chama river. There is a beautiful path along the river on Lodge...

We are all so glad that you enjoyed your stay. We work hard to make the Elkhorn Lodge Chama a comfortable and welcoming destination. I am glad that the lack of strong WiFi and TV did not hinder your enjoyment of being in the beautiful Chama Valley. Hope you will come back again. Linda

I give this Lodge 4 stars, but please don't expect a 4 star resort. It is not. However, it is exactly what I wanted and expected it to be. Very friendly front desk/owners (and their adorable grandson), basic but comfortable room, plenty of parking, and a restaurant right next door. The Lodge also has a nice walkway along the Chama...

Stayed two nights so we wouldn't have to drive up early and get home late from the Cumbres and Toltec Steam Railroad. It was affordable. Only a few minutes drive from the train station. There was a great little restaurant next door for great home made breakfasts. The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. Nice porch to sit outside...

Thank you so much for your review, we always appreciate it when our guests take the time to write a review. We especially are happy that you enjoyed your stay at the Elkhorn Lodge Chama. Come see us in the fall when the leaves are golden and the air is crisp. Linda

First the Good. The Lodge consists of separate cabins and also blocks of rooms in a single building spread over a large property right on the Rio Chama which is a small stream by eastern standards but substantial by New Mexico standards. This is an historic property which is to say that it's been around for a long time. The...

Well first of all thanks for taking the time to write a review. I just wanted to let you know your impressions are incorrect as to the minimal maintenance and few or no improvements to the Elkhorn. Yes Wi-Fi is not good up here in the summer time when there are a few hundred or more extra people in town...

Don't be expecting a Holiday Inn Express in Chama. It's a quaint little town of about 1,500 in the summer and 1,000 the rest of the year. The Elkhorn Lodge now open year round as this area is popular not only for the C &TS railroad but fall foliage and hunting as well. There are cabins with different combinations of...

Thanks for your review, we appreciate it when customers take the time to do this. Yep, no Holiday Inn Express because the Elkhorn Lodge is one of a kind with lots of character, charm and a cozy, comfortable atmosphere. It is beautiful here in the fall, worth another road trip from Texas. Hope to see you again. Linda

I felt like I was back in the 50's or 60's in a movie! They had cabins, rooms and the mobile home we stayed in. We were right on the river. Linda and Arthur, the owners, were wonderful! My boys fished, roasted marshmallows, went for walks and played baseball! Perfect for families!

What a nice, friendly place. We stayed in a cabin type room a one bedroom place. They kept most everything including the appliances antique looking, but in good working order. The Chama river runs right behind the property with a walking path. The owners are very friendly. A joy to talk to. Only issue is the internet is very slow....

Thank you for your positive review. We are also happy that our guests enjoy their visit. We continue to try to improve the speed of the internet but up here in Chama everything seems to move a little bit slower. Hope to see you again, Linda

We stopped in Chama enroute from Colorado to Texas. There are 3 lodging options that boast cabins and "on the river". Just be aware that Chama is rural and rustic with very few cafes and 2 stores. The Elkhorn staff were very nice and it is family run. The cabins seemed clean. However, some cabins have old upholstered furniture sitting...

Hi, thanks for the review but sorry you did not enjoy the accommodations. Yes this is very old, rural and rustic town and some of our cabins are 100 years old. As you mentioned they are clean and are well maintained. The Elkhorn Lodge is a destination that offers clean rooms and cabins, a hot tub, a river that runs...

This was a very nice cabin that was motel style. The beds were comfortable. We sat outside and played board games. Another positive is that everything on site was so clean!! Everyone was very friendly! The river runs right behind it!! To our dismay (not their fault) we were there during a heatwave and there is not any A/C in...

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! It has been a challenge for us to find good internet up here in the mountains, but we continue to work on that issue. And you are right, we were definitely in a heat wave during your stay! The majority of the year our climate doesn't require air conditioning and we find...

Great place to stay in a small rustic cabin. We originally found this place thru Groupon. Would stay there again. We stayed in Cabin #40 it has 2 double beds, full bath and kitchen. There is also a motel on the property. Grounds back up to the Chama River, which was flowing big time. Weather was wonderful, specially when we...
