This hotel, located 20mn by walk from the town center is certainly a good choice. The deluxe rooms are awsome, the service excellent and as everywhere in Bhutan the staff so nice. They gave us the best breakfast we had during our 2 weeks in the country. And the diner is also good.

It was fantastic food and nice parking area but Wifi should be improved and the internet service should be upgraded for all rooms too. The staff are friendly too. The clean surroundings with cottage housing is so appealing for stay for couple of days really. For me if I am asked which place to put up in Bumthang??? My honest...

My wife and I spent 15 nights in Bhutan during October/November 2016. This was probably our favorite hotel/lodge. Jakar / Bumthang is beautiful (little Switzerland). The Gongkhar Guesthouse is beautiful -- traditional Bhutanese architecture. We stayed in one of 4 rooms in a larger building just past the individual cottages, and absolutely loved it! The pine floor and paneling gave...

This guesthouse is located just a kilometre down the road from Jakar town, on the east side of the river. We had a deluxe room in the building at the back, top floor, which gave us great views of Jakar Dzong and the valley. The room was enormous, with a large bathroom and windows on 3 sides. Also very quiet,...

Having read the other reviews here I conclude that there are nice large newer rooms and then there are those like ours opposite the reception/dining area. Our room is pretty basic, twin beds with a wardrobe and desk. There are no bedside tables and one of the reading lamps above the beds is broken with the bits sitting in the...

I loved staying at this place. The rooms were very nice and all the food in the dining room was great. Our group was all over Bhutan in a two week period and I found the hosts here the most friendly and helpful. The bathroom was nice, but very cold while we were visiting. I will definitely stay here again...

This guesthouse is laid in cottages. The rooms are quite large with a bathroom and a sitting area. The room had a wood heater as well as electric heater. The guest-house has a dinning room where meals are served. It is out of town so getting in to shop means that you have to walk for about 15-20 minutes.

When we first arrived in Bumthang we had 2nights at another hotel, then were moved on our third night to Gongkhar Guesthouse. I wished we'd had our other two nights here! We just loved our stay here - so much so, that we were due to come back to Bumthang and stay at the other hotel and we took it...

We loved staying at Gongkhar Guesthouse. We each had a spacious room with views out windows on three sides. The room was large with a sitting area and wood stove as well as private bathroom. I loved the artistic designs on the woodwork and the beautiful woven bedspreads. Wood floor and windows, and drapes of traditional Bhutanese fabric. Breakfast was...

We stayed here for two nights. The rooms are in cottage forms. Our was quite huge with a separate sitting area and bedroom area. The king size bed was quite comfortable. There are big windows on three sides of room. The view from window is very beautiful. The bathroom was average. They have both fire place and room heater, however...
