Just returned from Vietnam where we toured the North for 5 days then the remaining 9 was spent at Salinda Resort.
We were given a warm welcome and shown to our room 111.
I was sure I had booked a garden view and we were given a hill view (facing the road). When we queried this we were assured we were in the right room. Having now returned and checked our paperwork we should have had a garden room as I thought, so we will persue this with our agent. However this did not spoil our holiday as our room was lovely with a massive bed and everything we needed. Fresh water was provided daily and little gifts left on the bed every few nights.
The turn down service was great and my slippers and a foot mat left out for me. However as we were always late up from the pool each night around 6.30 our room was already turned down which was a shame. Would have been better if turn down service had been around 8.00pm.

The hotel is in a great location with plenty of restaurants just outside and a 5 minute taxi ride to the centre and night market.
Breakfast was a delight with everything presented beautifully. The pianist was a lovely touch too. The selection of tea and coffee was the best I have ever had in a hotel.

We used Highnote bar most nights, where we found the service to be excellent. It is more expensive than local bars, but I felt the service made the extra cost worthwhile. The resident band was excellent and I must make a special mention of ‘Caroline’, who is not only very talented, but a delightful person also, who always takes a personal interest in customers, a credit to the hotel.

We enjoyed eating at the hotel in the evenings and tried all 3 restaurants. We had excellent service from all staff in all of them, but our favourite was the Italian Il Muro. The homemade pasta and ice cream were delicious and chef Simone took an interest in customers and would come out to introduce himself.

I agree with others that meals taken outside the hotel in local restaurants are around a third of the cost, but there is no comparison to the quality and service of the Hotel restaurants.
The pool bar served excellent lunches, we usually had a sandwich or pizza between us, as portions were huge. The service around the pool was very good, you just needed to raise your flag.

Beds and towels around the pool and beach were plentiful, but my biggest criticism is how close the beds are to each other.
If your neighbors wanted their sunshade up, it meant you too were in the shade, if you wanted to or not. There was just not enough space between beds. The bed mattresses were also dirty and in need of replacement as did the ones on the loungers in our room (111). If these two issues could be addressed I think this would truly be a 5* hotel, but the overcrowding around the pool for me, made the hotel fall short in this regard.

Overall we had a great holiday and I would definitely recommend Salinda Resort. Several on our tour ended up at other hotels and were disappointed with their choice, so we made the right decision choosing Salinda Resort.

Firstly let me start by saying Vietnam is singularly the best experience I have ever had on holiday in terms of the culture food and peace.
The Salina beach resort is a five star resort in every sense of the word. The staff cannot do enough for you and you are looked after like royalty.
Everyone raves about the breakfast at this resort. I have never been served at my table with a poached egg done exactly how I asked for it with caviar sprinkles a lemon slice and toast and hollandaise drizzle.
There are a large selection of meats cheeses cereals toast fruit and hot buffet. Also fresh pastries and every kind of salad and fish. Sparkling wine served to low key pianist music.
If you don’t like breakfast at this hotel I doubt you will like it anywhere it’s absolutely amazing. I cannot fault it. The tea is served piping hot and there are a range of coffees if that’s your preference.
The best thing about this hotel is the peace and tranquility with the added bonus of excellent staff who can’t do enough for you.
Situated on Long Beach with restaurants and bars with in walking distance. The hotel itself is about £50.00 a night to eat in so if you don’t want to get out and about and sample the local cuisine there are three restaurants to choose from. Live low key music night.y the cost of a beer £1.00.
We ate out every night for fourteen nights with no ill effects for less than £10.00.
There is a hop on hop off bus that takes you all over the South of the island. You can go to all the points of interest including the cable car. The cost around £15 including cable car. If nothing else a must do for Phu Quoc. Also a free bus that takes you to the North to the Vin Pearl theme park and Safari world if you like this kind of thing.
If you like big noisy all inclusive hotels this hotel is not for you. Nothing to do for kids but great for adults who want to relax.
Spotlessly clean with film channel TV and constant hot water the rooms are serviced twice daily with little presents left every night on your pillow of your 8 ft bed. Marks out of 10. Definitely 10 would give it 20 if I could.
We stayed in room 238 sea view over the rain fiorestand ocean to die for.

My wife and i stayed here for 14 nights along with another couple. From the moment we arrived we where treated like royalty, the hotel is set in beautiful well maintained grounds and and although it git busier towards the end of our stay the hotel never felt crowded. Sun beds where where always available around the pool and beach, drinks where served directly to your sun bed by the excellent staff, all you had to do was raise a small flag on your sun bed table and your order was take promptly, food was also available using the same system of your could sit in the poolside bar for lunch.
There are lots of small bars within easy walking distance either side on the beach all serving simple food and cheap drinks.
Outside the front of the hotel there are also lots of places to eat and drink within walking distance or the hotel will call you a taxi to take you the short distance into the main area of the town which only cost around £1.50.
We ate in the hotels Indian restaurant and this is easily on par with any 5 star Indian restaurant in London, the food and service where outstanding, breakfast was always fresh and plentiful. The hotel bar is a must with an excellent array of cocktails available at very reasonable prices for a hotel of this standard.
Rooms are large with probably the largest bed i have ever seen in a hotel, it was the same size as two doubles side by side, air con was whisper quiet and very cold, the standard of the daily cleaning was excellent with a turn down service every evening and a small treat left on your pillow.
I can not recommend this hotel enough, you will not be disappointed if you stay here.

From the moment we were picked up at the airport to being dropped off on Christmas Day, we were looked after and wanted for nothing. Caroline, the human dynamo, is full of energy, focus and ensuring service expectation and experience are of the highest level. We loved catching up with her at breakfast but also listening to her on an evening as she belted out songs in the bar.

Of course a lot of other staff made sure our stay was relaxing and fun. In particular, Vu, An, Huong, Dang and Kim. Breakfast was a lovely affair with such a variety of food to choose from, we found ourselves grazing for quite a while each morning!! We also loved spending our time around the pool and had fun putting our flag up when we wanted a beer or a delicious cocktail. It was also nice to see that as soon as sunbeds had been vacated that the towels were removed for other guests to use. The daily 5 minute massages at the sunbeds were dreamy and my 90 minute session in the spa was fabulous. I love my massages and this was one of the best I've ever experienced.

The hotel was exceptionally clean and tidy and lived up to our expectations. We were both so tired on arrival and everything about our stay made sure we left feeling extremely relaxed - the beds were sooo comfortable. Housekeeping staff were fast and efficient in servicing our room leaving restocking it with all the usual items but also leaving night time treats such as sleep tea or the yummy honey-coated ginger to ensure a restful sleep.

Without doubt this is the best hotel we have stayed in. Having arrived very early we were quickly given a room and we were upgraded to a villa which was outstanding with a wonderful bathroom.

The staff were outstanding and always so cheerful and accommodating. Every effort was made to meet everyone’s wishes. I will long remember Chi and alien.

The various restaurants were very good and in particular we enjoyed the Vietnamese. One evening we had a delicious rib eye steak meal and I went to the chef to thank him. Next morning at breakfast the chef appeared with a copy of the recipe. How kind of him.

The town of Duong Dong is worth a visit to see the night market but there is little else.

The hotel has a private beach which is absolutely lovely and the sea is clear with no stones or shingle on the seabed.

The one criticism which I have is that the lunch menu is rather expensive

Many who review this hotel comment on the breakfast. Well you may think that breakfasts are very similar in all good hotels but believe you me the breakfast here is unbelievable with such a very wide choice of dishes and there is no rush at the egg counter. You order what you want at your table and it is delivered to you.

My wife said that if we did not have another holiday then we would have finished on a very high note at this hotel.

To all the staff and management thank you for a wonderful stay.

Salinda Resort offers everything for you to be relaxed and enjoying the facilities.
Big and comfortable rooms. Bar pool and bar beach at the reach of a little flag.

Room service, such as guest service is excellent. First, they ask if you need something for your room several times without being annoying.
Guest service is fast and professional, always counting on your privacy.
The hotel has some luxury vans that pick up and drop you at the airport depending on your flight.

Recommendation: if you want to eat at one of the three restaurants at the hotel, make the reservation early.

Spent our second week of our fortnight trip to Vietnam and Cambodia in this hotel.
This hotel feels very classy, with tasteful deccor and well kept stylish gardens. It also has a gym, spa, library, games room, nursey, shop and even a cigar lounge.
We didn't go all included, but the breakfast was included. The choice and quality of the food was amazing and to add to the experience staff would greet you each morning with the offer of sparkling wine and there was always a grand piano being played.
We also had a couple of evening meals at the hotel, which was more expensive than some of the nearby restaurants, but in my opinion the quality of the food was much better here.
The staff were always friendly and helpful.
The room we had was a double, with a massive sized bed, and again it was very stylish with plenty of storage space and nice bathroom. The one downside was the fact that our balcony faced the rear of the hotel and a busy road, but the noise did not carry into the room when the doors were shut. However if like us, you like sitting out of an eveing, it may be worth requesting a room at the front of the hotel.
The group that played in the bar were excellent and always happy to do requests.
My one gripe was the hotel gift shop, from where I bought a couple of quite expenive items, only to find the same items for a fraction of the price in the Airport.
On the whole I loved this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I will go back to salinda! Good stuff!

Overall this was a great hotel and we were satisfied with everything other than the pool-side food. Pool side drinks and infused water were good however.

1) The breakfast was delicious, one of the best hotel breakfast buffets ever! @Complimentary sparkling wine, individually bottled fresh juices, delicious Vietnamese coffee, generous cheese spread, assortment of pastries, good selection of western and Asian items. Really really good!
2) The sun set was really pretty and the poll was nice and big!
3) The pool side food was not good but the ice cream there is yummy in my tummy.
4) The kids room stuff is very nice and you get to do activities like making flowers with paper, watching movies, sand activity and maybe more! But you need to ask them.
4b) my daughter wrote the above but the kids loved the complimentary kids room and the staff there were extremely friendly.

Others:
1) check out the Bitter Sweet hidden bar in the tailor shop across the street from the hotel. Excellent cocktails! No menu so just tell them what fruit or liquor or type of cocktail you like and they’ll make a nice one.
2) Around the hotel I recommend renting a scooter and exploring nearby restaurants.
3) further away near the intercontinental was great food and drinks at the Sailing Club which also had a nice beach to enjoy at sunset.

Tata!

This is for sure a family friendly resort, it's just a shame that some families aren't friendly.
This hotel caters to many families and This means noise! The pool area is too small to get away from the screams and cries of children and the rooms themselves aren't sanctuaries and fail to stop the cries and shouts.

I feel the hotel would benefit from an area dedicated to children and families at busy times. Especially around the pool as it was not a relaxing experience. I think maybe the hotel should decide what matket it wishes to cater for: adults and small families, or families with a lot of children. Perhaps a consistent approach to maximum room occupancy would be beneficial. At one point, there were, it seemed, about twelve people over two rooms on our floor (this was easy to see because they left their room doors open). Yes, they might have paid for the number of people to stay in the room, but the experience and peace of other guests was inhibited.

Breakfast service was excellent, but the food quality was not high - the sparkling wine was pleasant and a nice touch. The breakfast staff were well trained, helpful and preemptive of guests' needs. However, the hot food was cold and the variety limited. I am unsure how stir fried rice and fried vegetables can be so tasteless in country where it is done so well elsewhere. The cheeses on offer were cheaper cheeses and, again, there were only one or two varieties.

I would also recommend keeping a keen eye on guests at the buffet breakfast or providing signs explaining basic hygiene. Those guests who were desperate for food and unwilling to wait for the person in front of them to finish did not use the servers provided, they used their own cutlery in shared dishes. An unacceptable practice at any establishment, let alone a 5*. I was horrified by this.

As we don’t have children, we wouldn't stay here again readily. People with children might be able to shut the noise of certain children out. I have to say, there were a number of excellently behaved children, not all of them were running through the breakfast area, using the hallways as a playground and dominating the pool area.

My wife and I recently returned from this excellent hotel, having enjoyed two weeks of wonderful Vietnamese hospitality.
The staff here are almost embarrassingly polite and friendly and an absolute credit to the hotel and their country.
We were on a half board basis , which in retrospect may not have been the best option for a two week holiday, though we found all of the food to be of a very high standard. My wife loved the mango salad at the Cyan pool bar & we will definitely be trying to recreate it in gloomy London—- especially as it appears all the restaurants here will be closed.
Great group playing in the lounge every night with some themed nights, movie night was particularly good.
Room was spacious with a huge comfortable bed and great walk in shower.
Tea making facilities were most welcome for an early ( well, not so early) morning cuppa.
Room was cleaned twice a day to an excellent standard by the very hard working staff.
No Chinese visitors during our stay ,which I guess are usually a fairly high proportion of the guests, so no problems with sun beds.
Pool boys always ready with towels & making sure your umbrella is raised when required.
Plenty of bars/ restaurants within easy walking distance, just be careful negotiating the road which was a bit like Russian roulette .
It was sad at the end of our holiday to see the entire area closing down ,due to the Coronavirus pandemic ,& we sincerely home it all blows over as quickly as possible so that the local economy is impacted as little as possible.
So why have I described Salinda resort as only Almost perfect?
Well, Salinda is a family hotel and during our stay there were quite a lot of young children there—— what we call in London “ Ankle biters “
But these were not ordinary children, oh no.
These children generated a decibel level that would have caused the sound engineers for Spinal Tap to cower in their trailer and refuse to come out.
They could have decimated the Legions of Ancient Rome , driven the hordes of Genghis Khan from the steppes and given the SAS regiment a rather testy day.
Adult only and Salinda would be quite perfect!

I believe half board is an option and was offered to us. However, there are so many good restaurants just outside at a lot cheaper price we only took bed and breakfast. To answer your second question, I don’t really know what options are with restaurants for half board, I very much doubt it will include alcohol as that’s expensive in the hotel, again outside beer is good and low cost but wine is iffy. Hope this helps
