Came here without a reservation with a senior citizen on a budget. So, basically we needed a certain level of comfort without busting the bank. Was exactly what we were looking for (was recommended by an unnamed motorbike taxi..no commission...we drove our own car). A very Thai hotel, with karaoke and all, but the staff could speak some English. Free map printouts.
A little creaky in some places, but nothing significant. General help with directions to a restaurant we wanted. The breakfast is the standard Thai hotel breakfast. Don't get excited, but if you know what that is like, it not bad. Overall, good value and in a decent location in Korat.

Recently revisited this place - stayed here once previously about 2004. It's almost unchanged in furnishings, condition, and price. About 480 baht for a standard room - with prices rising for nicer rooms. Standard rooms are a bit small, and maybe due for a refresh - but are reasonably efficient in use of space. That small room holds a small couch, beds with comfortable mattresses and clean linnens, etc. No room safe in our room. The shower is basic Thai style (e.g. a curtain across a corner of the bathroom, but nothing else to prevent water from getting elsewhere in the room). OK by me, but others may wish to know this in advance. Breakfast is off a menu (e.g. not a buffet), which means that food is cooked to order - a plus. I don't know about western breakfast contents or quality, as I tend to get khao tom gai (rice porridge with chicken) in such situations.

Location is good - in the old town near the night market, not far from Thanon Chira train station and the bus stations. There are several eating and shopping options within walking distance (if you like to walk a bit).

Hotel looks modern and fairly new, arrived at the small reception where they had 3 girls jammed behind it, none of which spoke very good English. Room was modern and clean, no safe deposit box which still amazes me for a new hotel. In a world where our phones and tablets cost around a £1000 and most of us carry credit cards, cash and have passports why don't hotels put safes in the room as standard practice.

Close enough to Terminal 21 and the Mall, can walk both in about 30 mins. Central a little further away.

Only gave 1 star for the appalling customer service on check out. I had a bad cold, and due I suppose to the constant blowing I got a nose bleed. I thought it had stopped before bedtime but put a towel down just in case. Through the night it must have started again, a small bit went on the towel and due to moving during my sleep some went on the bed sheets. I refused room service the next day as I didn't want the sheets change in case it started the second night. On checking out they checked the room as normal and said everything was ok. I was waiting for a taxi when one of the receptionists came over  with a hand written note that requested 100 baht, she said it was for the blood on the towel. I explained I had a nose bleed and said that they must boil their sheets for hygiene purposes and that this would remove it. She went over to some serving hatch behind the front desk where I imagine the manager sits and had a some conversation. The next thing the maid comes into reception with the bed sheets and they all start to have a debate in front of the other guests in reception. Due to the total embarrassment and unprofessionalism on their part I just walked out and waited for my taxi in the heat. Working in the hotel industry they must expect that people will occasionally have a nose bleed or for woman to have their period unexpectedly. This can't be something new the same as when people are sick, surely this is an occupational hazard of being in the hotel industry. I tried to mitigate where I could but unfortunately this was an accident and shouldn't have been an excuse to embarrass a guest in reception in front of other guests. They have my card details so maybe they will try and charge that but as I haven't authorised it I will obviously despute any charge.

Would I return? No

The rooms in this hotel are in need of some serious renovations.
Everything looks as if it is from the 70's , with all expected wear.
There was no hot water when we were there.
you get what you pay for, price was relatively inexpensive.
at least they had 2 english-speaking TV channels which was a much welcome change from the obnoxious Thai stations.
Feel pretty neutral about the staff, they were helpful enough.
I would Only stay if you just need a place to crash for the night on your way through.

Been coming to the Korat Hotel ever since I was a boy on our family holidays. Its great to see it change over the years. Its always been a great value place to stay when in the area and the rooms are good. The karaoke bar has changed over the years and its always an 'experience'... Breakfast has always been good. On our last stay the green curry we had for dinner was delicious. Highly recommend if your in Korat.

If you want to get a sense of the city and walk to the limited number of good restaurants and cafes in town, the Koran Hotel is a good choice. It's small guest rooms were recently refurbished and pretty well appointed. Overall, a very good value for the modest room rate.
