Scuba Seraya is a hidden gem! A quiet location set in the shadow of Mount Agung and right on the beach, where you fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. Diving facilities are great and are right on the property.
We did about 7 days of diving and it never got old! Eka, our dive master was AWESOME. He was extremely helpful and informative about the local dive sites. He is a true asset to the dive team and made our experience unforgettable.
The Housekeeping and Restaurant staff are so friendly, always making sure we were comfortable and were having a wonderful stay. The Restaurant has a great menu, with a good selection of cocktails. They are also happy to make any substitutions to suit vegetarians, which I really appreciated. Thank you so much to the ladies for being so accommodating and friendly.
If you're looking for a quiet, serene place in Bali with stunning dive sites a short boat ride away, this is the place to stay! Scuba Seraya will be our first choice if we return to Bali!

Exquisite diving for serious divers, that is well managed and very accommodating. The dive masters are extremely helpful and the dives safe and well planned. The dive boat is spacious, and Nitrox available. Bali still has amazing underwater reefs and marine life, and photographic opportunities were stunning.
The resort staff are outstanding, and the food was good with a good selection of local and Western choices. Alcohol is very limited, with only 2 choices of wine and local beer.
The resort has been upgraded since we were last there, and is well maintained, and peaceful. The free WiFi was good, but there are no TV’s. There is a communal swimming pool as well.
Well worth another visit.

We didnt stay here but alongside
A look around the grounds snd eating area was good. We had a drink in the restaurant area which was cosy enough and staff very friendly.
The grounds are spacious and well kept and dive equipment and diving looks good,
There is a great muck house reef and a large covered RIB for diving,
Its right on the sea front and quiet with affordable pricing if budget conscious,

Just back from a fortnight at this delightful diver's paradise. It's not the easiest place to get to if you're traveling from the US, but the trip is well worth the effort. For as long as you're there, you're away from the everyday stresses of the modern world.
The resort is beautiful and well-maintained; the grounds are postcard perfect. We rented an oceanfront villa, which is a shockingly good value, and much larger than the garden maisonette. Two walls are all window; one faces the ocean; the other, a courtyard. Villas come with an outdoor daybed and a semi-outdoor bathroom (which sounds kind of odd but was actually quite pleasant). The room was spacious; the bed, comfortable; and the AC, top-notch (quiet and programmable!). The pool, dining palapa, and dive center are all within stumbling distance. The fare is simple but satisfying; the Indonesian selections are, as you might suppose, better than the international offerings. the food is very reasonably priced. (Table) wine is available, but thanks to a 300% government tax, is lamentably overpriced. Buy it anyway, and enjoy a glass or two while lounging on the outdoor patio at sunset. You will be glad you did.
We went to Scuba Seraya to dive, and dive we did. The dive center is extremely personalized. Our party of 5 had our own DM and our own boat for all but the last few days (when 2 more people joined us, gasp!). My sister was getting certified, and had her own DM for the whole time she was there. December falls within Indonesia's monsoon season, so seas were rougher and visibility was down, but we still had 19 fabulous dives. The northeast corner of Bali is muck-diving central, and macro heaven, but the reefs are spectacular, too, The corals are HUGE! The Scuba Seraya dive crew schlepped our gear back and forth from the dive boat---no easy feat considering there is no dock for the boats. They also guided us to and from the boat until we got used to there being no dock. The beach is rocky and wavy, so it took us a few days to settle in to a routine. SS offers two dives in the morning, and optional dives in the afternoon, but no one dives in the afternoon because the current and surf both kick up after lunch, and the vis goes down.
Scuba Seraya is a dive resort, so it doesn't offer a lot of other activities. There is a splendid masseuse on site (another shockingly good value) and you can hire a car with driver to take you around to the local sites; Driving yourself is not recommended unless you are familiar with the concept of ordered chaos. There's a TV at the palapa (though it was seldom on while we were there), and free WiFi. But mostly, you bring your own fun and learn how to relax again.
The next time we go, it will be in October, which, the dive crew tells me, is peak season. but we will be back. for sure. because Bali is an awesome place and so is Scuba Seraya.

I stayed at Scuba Seraya from Aug. 6 thru 12 for UW photography. Sadly I flooded two Olympus XZ-1 on the first & second dive days separately due to housing defect.
As we had paid all the planned dives before our arrival at Seraya, I checked with & got confirmed by resort manager on the second dive day that my aborted dives for dive day 3, 4 amd 5 WILL BE REFUNDED.
On the day I left resort, the supervisor was refunding me only US$300 out of US$476; the remaining US$176 was confiscated by the supervisor Iis Shanti who says this is the best she can do!

It’s a long, crowded, winding road from Denpasar to Tulamben, but well worth the drive for Scuba Seraya – one of the most delightful, off-the-beaten-track dive resorts I’ve ever experienced. Right on the ocean, just a stone’s throw from the world famous Liberty shipwreck, Scuba Seraya is a small oasis, comprising a small number of luxurious rooms and villas set amidst sculpted and manicured grounds – designed entirely for scuba divers here to place checkmarks on their bucket lists. The dive operation is intensely personal. For the two days I was in the water here, it was just me and my dive guide, and this is some of the most amazing diving I have ever experienced. This is remote Bali, so even a luxurious villa -- with indoor and outdoor beds, private soaking tub, trademark outdoor Balinese shower and bath, outdoor kitchenette, floor to ceiling windows and private veranda – was absurdly affordable. I treated myself to a massage on the veranda, coconut palms soaring overhead, plumeria blossom wafting on the air, and the sound of the barely perceptible ocean surge softly nudging the shoreline.
The staff is delightful and attentive, but keep in mind this is a remote village, and not the Ritz Carlton! English language skills are basic, but certainly good enough. There’s neither a TV, nor a phone, in your room, so you might as well go whole hog and power down all your devices for a few days, and try to remember what a real vacation was like before the age of electronic tethers! You can drop off the face of the earth here. And, if you’re a diver, you really should.

We spent an all too short 2 nights / 3 days at this serene, beach-side resort. Situated in between bustle of Tulamben and Amed, here you are free from almost all ambient sounds except the sea and wildlife - a very relaxing place. We were in a garden room with unobstructed view of the sea. Not particularly spacious but perfectly adequate, comfortable with airy, open air bathroom. The only criticism was there seemed to be no setting for the A/C in between completely off or “freezer” cold.
The Restaurant makes good breakfast and offers a fair selection of local and western dishes for lunch and dinner. There are not really any other places to eat within walking distance.
The dive centre is well organised. Famous for its macro house reef, the diving from beach reveals a wealth of amazing small and rare marine creatures. Do not be put off that it looks dark, less inviting than the bright blue sea you might expect in the tropics. It is simply due to the black, volcanic sand and stones which make up the shoreline. If you seek more colourful corals of course they make the short boat rides to the reefs at Tulamben (West) or Amed (East).
This was not our first stay here and we hope it won't be our last; highly recommended.

Wow what a heavenly place! This tranquil beautiful resort is around a 3 hour drive from the ferry port, so ensure you are prepared for the journey. It is situated down off the main road and is quite remote but on the beach front, which is lovely to hear the waves lapping on the pebble shore. We spent a week here diving and relaxing. We booked directly and the correspondence and helpfulness was great and great value for money. The food is yummy and a good choice of different meals each evening (as please note there are very little alternative eating facilities within a walk). One evening at special requests some guests had arranged a hog roast for a special occasion, which looked amazing as they cooked it there. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly, the rooms are spaced out well in the grounds with a choice of room types, all kept very clean and the outside bathrooms are refreshing. Watch out for the cheeky ghekos who happily eat any bugs in your room. The comfy beds have mosquito nets, which I would highly recommend to use. The gardens are beautiful and lovingly kept that way, it is so tranquil and beautiful to look out to the ocean. Sunbeds are available around the grounds and around the lovely pool. You can get a very reasonably priced massage most days (in fact I think we had 4 within the week they were that good!) So to the diving! Wow if you like critters tulamben is for you the sheepies (sap sucking slugs) are just so cute but get your macro lens on, they are tiny. The amount and variety of nudi's is amazing, the dive crew are really helpful and friendly. All sites with the exception of the house reef are accessed by boat, be warned they are not the easiest to get in as there is no jetty so you often have to wade out to the boat and the waves can be quite forceful, the crew take all kit onboard though and do assemble for you if you would like and they take great care with your camera equipment. They are also always on hand to assist you on the shore as the pebbly beach can be tricky. And on the boat they are very helpful. There is a rib or a hard boat and both are very good. There are so many dive sites within a very short distance, first dive is normally around 8 after a yummy breakfast selection, you are then brought back to the resort in between dives and get at least an hour or two to relax in between. Second dive normally around 11 and third dive around 2 or 3. Night dives are also available but you have to wait quite awhile for it to get fully dark. Plenty of space around the dive area to get ready and good water tanks for you to rinse cameras and kit. They have a room nearby for you to use for your camera equipment with power sockets and clean areas. The dive guides are excellent at pointing out the good stuff and their knowledge is very good. There are a couple of wrecks nearby that you can visit which are a two dive trip, snacks are brought on board for you and it is only about 30 mins away. This all sits under the beautiful volcano mount agung. As mentioned we arrived by ferry as we were already at another resort, don't be afraid to use the local slow ferry it is so cheap and comfortable, and the resort arranged a minibus to collect us. This is close to paradise for divers, I would highly recommend the area and this lovely resort, thank you so much for an amazing stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2011 and have mixed views.
The good parts were the beautiful ocean front villa, the lovely Indonesian staff and the great dive guides. When we booked only the villas were available and we soooo loved what we got. Our villa was incredibly beautiful , spotlessly clean , huge and we fell asleep listening to the waves.
Our dive guide , Sanut ( excuse the spelling) could not have been better . He was kind and friendly and extremely helpful. This was our first stop on a 3 week dive trip and Sanut was absolutely brilliant . Diving the Liberty wreck was awsome , but despite coming all the way from Denpasar for 3 nights , we only had one dive there !! A large group were in and they seemed to get priority over us when it came to the wreck dives.
Also highly recommended are the massages !
The not so good things were the food and the Swiss owner , who only spoke to me once in 3 days when we were leaving and never at all to my husband.

After a week long diving excursion to the Komodo Islands I came back to Bali for some more scuba diving at its greatest dive sites. One of the most iconic wreck dives in the world is the "U.S.A.T. Liberty Wreck" in Tulamben, Bali. Looking for a cheap place to stay, I traveled from Sanur Bali on the west coast to Tulamben on the east coast where the wreck dive rests in the Flores Sea. Scanning TripAdvisor I decided to stay at Scuba Seraya based upon reviews I read as well as a fellow diver's recommendation while I was on my diving excursion. So, continuing my adventure I made my way to Scuba Seraya Resort beneath the mighty Mount Agung stratavolcano.
Arriving at the resort I found it to be a quaint little group of rooms with a large King sized canopy bed and outdoor bathroom. The grounds are well manicured with flowers and palm trees. The beach in Tulamben is composed of volcanic rocks and stones, difficult to walk on and not really suitable for laying on, but, Scuba Seraya has a very nicely manicured area with beach chairs for watching the sea. A on-site Scuba Shop is available for rigging out and walking directly into the ocean for some of the best macro-muck diving in the World. Although I didn't use it, I was told by my Dive Master at the Liberty Wreck that it was comparable or even better than diving Liberty. I only stayed 2 nights and stopped diving after I left, though, when I return I will definitely try diving directly from Scuba Seraya's beach.
The room was very cozy, clean, and had a wonderful bed for a very tired adventurer. After a week of 4 dives a day in Komodo, an excursion to Nusa Penida on my return for a 3 tank dive, and then a three tank dive on the Liberty Wreck, I was exhausted. Sleeping in the wonderful bed with a delicious Bali breakfast & coffee to great me in the morning sun was one of my most pleasant and serene moments in Bali. It was quite a contrast from the bustle of Uluwatu and Sanur to come over to the east coast of Bali and feel as if I had escaped to another island altogether. Looking out over the sunrise above the Flores Sea and then turning into the Epic Silhouette of Mount Agung directly behind Scuba Seraya made this a favorite photo spot during my wandering.
A kind and warm staff of women took care of the American man traveling alone. My cameras and drone were welcomed and they were attentive to my tourist needs for driver's and destination information. Remember the air conditioning is operated by remote control, I slept my first night thinking I had no air conditioning but loved opening the wooden shutters to allow the ocean breeze to caress my senses the first night. Taking my showers outside under the full moon with Mount Agung above me was a sublime moment just looking up at the Bali stars flickering like fire flies about its silhouette. (don't fear the sticky toed lizards,, they sing a very cool song at night...) A massage was enjoyed each morning to start my day before diving or traveling. I highly recommend it!
Its not fancy,,, its not a lavish resort,, but,, its Authentic!! A really serene and beautiful place, it was absolutely one of my favorite lodgings I visited while in Bali. Mount Agung gives its ambiance a certain Romance & Primal authenticity that can't be created with fancydoor designs or ornate pool grounds. Its real,, its beautiful,, and it leaves your soul soothed and relaxed with the Flores Sea at your front door and Agung dominating your view out back. Serenity Beneath the Volcano....

Hi just book direct on their own web site. All above board. Pay deposit and balance at check out.
yes, both have hot water. very nice after a morning of diving.
What the manager has said is abosolutley correct. Best snorkelling is at the headlands either side of the bay so a short boat ride is necissary. The dome directly out the front of the resort is great and lots to see but after two snorkels you might want to see something else.
"If you want entertainment beyond diving then not for you as Seraya is not near any towns."Read full review
"Villa's a bit more expensive than the bungalows but have a private bar, open air bath, fridge, very spacious, 20 meters away from the sea."Read full review
