Bali Dive Resort and Spa
Bali Dive Resort has two locations, a much smaller venue in Amed and a larger (the flagship) 3 star resort in Tulamben Bali.
The Tulamben resort is a very nice with excellent accommodation appointed to a very good standard, all situated in lovely gardens. The deluxe chalets can have a sea view from across the gardens.
There is a very well appointed main illuminated pool by the sea and a further smaller pool on the resort grounds.
The resort benefits from a spacious pleasant restaurant area, with sea and garden views.
The dive centre is located at the front of the resort with a good selection of equipment, and they have their own nitrox/air compressor room/wash tanks etc.
The resort has an quality feel, I found the chalets to be of an impressive standard and finish, and nicely decorated.
The restaurant has an extensive menu, so for anyone staying for a week you can have a fair choice to enjoy. The food is very reasonable with a selection of European and Balinese dishes. This is a 3 star resort, and food is of a complimentary reasonable standard. If one desires top chef dinning, then a 4/5 star resort may be what you would prefer to obtain that.
There is a spar on resort and the rates are at very affordable Balinese rates.
The diving is as expected for Bali with a good number of good macro sites and also the famous USAT Liberty wreck nearby. The dive guides were very good, helpful and all the resort staff generally exceptionally polite.
The diving with the resort is mainly shore based and transport is via a pickup type vehicle. The dive sites have local helper staff that carry everything, and you can also kit up by the beach using the provided benches.
Generally you can if you wish, dive 3 times a day plus a night dive.
I had the benefit of a private dive guide all week, the cost being very affordable, and for underwater photographers, a highly recommended option.
You can arrange for a boat dive if you prefer, the night dives are often via a fishing boat.
The resort is approx. a three-hour drive from the airport, and offers a good experience of the area whilst on route. You may well pass through the common Festivals help in Bali and is a happy and interesting experience. These may slightly delay the transfer by 20 mins or so.
The electrical power is 230 volt, type F round pin sockets.

We stayed at the resort for 8 days and had a sea view bungalow. We were very satisfied.
The resort is small but we didn't miss anything. When we checked in we were given drinking bottles and in the resort there are several filling stations with drinking water where you can fill up at any time - a good contribution to avoiding waste (of which there is unfortunately enough in Bali).
The resort is clean, beautiful, well-kept garden, pool and neat loungers. Beach with pebbles.
Our bungalow was very spacious with a large window front, comfortable bed, seating area, neat bathroom with shower, air conditioning, fan. Chairs on the terrace.
A smaller restaurant for meals. There were various options for breakfast: we enjoyed having everything served at the table without having to get up, fresh fruit, freshly squeezed fruit juice of your choice.
There was no hot meal at lunch or dinner that didn't taste good and the prices were reasonable.

We booked a diving course (extension) and dives in advance.
Everything to our satisfaction. The diving instructor Miikka was very thorough (some things nobody had shown us before), the course was pleasant. For the dives on the following days we had a 10-30 minute drive, our diving guide Beng Tut was very competent, helpful and attentive. He showed us so much above and below water - we would never have discovered it.

I used a massage once - unfortunately a bit late to repeat it. It did me good and I can only recommend it.

The only negative point: There is nothing around the resort. But that didn't bother us, we enjoyed the peace and quiet to relax. But we had already planned a second place to stay (with more hustle and bustle) afterwards.

If we come back to Bali, we will definitely spend a few days at the Bali Dive Resort and Spa.

This beautiful, top-class resort combines everything that is important to us on holiday: peace and quiet, right by the sea, bungalows, manageable and an excellent diving base and very friendly management and staff. That's why we're repeat offenders 😊
You have to be aware that the beach does not have fine white sand and that the resort is a bit remote. The journey is quite long, which is due to the heavy traffic.
The diving base right next to the resort is run in a very family-friendly and friendly manner. The dives take place individually on the house reef, the surrounding area (short journeys with the pick-up) or in Amed. Many thanks to Candra, our guide during our stay, for always getting us safely in and out of the water. Due to the waves and the sometimes many stones, this can be tricky. We had wonderful, eventful dives with many great discoveries.
On the trip to Nusa Penida, which was organized through another diving center, we were lucky enough to see two Mola Molas - thank you Nicole for persuading the guys to be there 😉 - and on the second dive we also saw manta rays. We didn't like the organization of this trip, but that was due to the other diving center.
Our bungalow with a sea view was large, well furnished with a refrigerator, coffee maker, lots of power outlets, a fan and air conditioning. The water dispensers in the resort, where you can fill up your own water bottles for free, are very pleasant. The room was always cleaned very well.
There are no loungers on the beach, as it is also used by the boats and fishermen. Swimming (with bathing shoes) is possible without any problems. There are enough loungers at the pool, as some rooms have their own pool with loungers. In addition, there are practically no people reserving loungers, which is extremely pleasant. The guests come from many different countries, which creates a pleasant mix: Europe, Asia and America with Canada were represented.
Unfortunately, there is no buffet available for breakfast, which of course makes sense given the small number of guests. There are various breakfast options available. These could be changed, but unfortunately are not always passed on correctly to the kitchen. But we can live with that. It was good nonetheless.
A menu is available for lunch and dinner. The selection is not huge but sufficient and the food is well prepared. Since we eat out from time to time (Tulamben is easy to reach by scooter), the slightly smaller selection did not bother us.
The spa, which belongs to the hotel, is also worth a visit, as the massages are really relaxing.
All in all, it was once again a perfect vacation for us. We would like to thank everyone who helped make our vacation so wonderful again. And we are already looking forward to the next time at the Bali Dive Resort and Spa.

Bali Dive Resort and spa was recommended by regular customers, my diver friends, sonI decided to go. The location is perfect, interesting shore dive or dive sites just 5/10 minutes drive from the resort. I am a macro enthusiastic and underwater photographer and my guide Candra was happy to spot little things for me, so the diving is absolutely amazing. I stayed in a garden room, very clean and very big, absolutely comfortable and plenty of space to stay. The bathroom is also quite big with a huge shower. The garden is Paradise! The stuff here love their job, they take great care of the customers and of the place. Very very clean everywhere. Nico is always ready to help and cares a lot about her customers.
The dive centre is located in the resort, while the spa is just next door. The food is delicious, prepared with care and very tasty. Many many option were to choose from, international and Indonesian, you can eat and drink all day long. I must say the breakfast is absolutely excellent. Many sets to choose from all freshly prepared. You can drink Young coconut or a lemonade at the pool at any time.
The only thing I would’ve appreciated more was a few more plugs in the room to charge my camera and phone and iPad while in the room.
But really nothing to complain about.

We had an excellent experience diving with this company in Tulamben.
The dive manager was excellent to communicate with when asking questions and setting up the reservations. Additionally they assisted us in correcting some issues we encountered with our own equipment that we had brought for diving. The shop even arranged for some replacement equipment to be purchased in a dive store in the south of the island and brought up to us to improve our trip.
Our assigned guide was excellent at listening to what our specific requests were for (muck diving, macro subjects) and did an excellent job of finding amazing creatures for us to see while we were there. This was one of the best dive guide experiences in my 15 years of diving.
The dive support staff was also excellent, transportation to and from the local dive sites was seamless and they coordinate with local porters to make your getting into and out of the water as easy as possible.
The hotel grounds are very nice and there are multiple well maintained pools on the property to relax around when your not diving. The bar and restaurant were available from the early morning well into the evening and service and food were good.
Tulamben is a bit remote, and alternatives to the resort restaurant are not many. consider getting a scooter for trips into Amed if this will be an issue for you.
The diving and the Macro life here make this an amazing destination that is not to be missed. We had an excellent time with Bali Dive and would definitely return here again.

I have stayed in this resort for two weeks and absolutely loved every minute of that.
The location is quite far from the top touristics destinations, but it is something I really do appreciate, this resort gives you plenty of space to chill and relax in peace and quite.
You may hire and motorcycle to get whereever you feel like it (otherwise the resort provides a taxi).
The pool, beach area and restaurant is included. The restaurant provides many items to pick (from “western” cuisine to balinese).
If you want to dive, there is PADI dive centre as part of the resort, with various options nice dives sites, which are really nearby.
Really recommend for everyone, who wants run away from everydays stress. Just have an arak and chill by the pool.

My wife and I went for our first scuba trip for years now that the kids are grown up. As a young couple we used to scuba dive a lot around the world before we had kids.

We found a very convenient, hassle free way to scuba dive Bali’s beautiful, unspoilt coral reefs and the Liberty wreck. We had excellent treatment and our own personal dive master. We enjoyed our experience so much that we are coming back next year again.

Just amazing place for anyone but especially for divers or people becoming one.
Easy to reach but still very quiet and away from all the hassle.
Clean and roomy rooms with really good beds and nice bathrooms.
Diving is just great and sites easy to reach. Everything is handled professionally and instructors/divemasters know what they are diving.
Restaurant has wide menu of all kinds of dishes with really reasonable prices. Tasty food!
Staff in overall is very friendly and they will take care of you. Would recommend this ten times of ten.

We had a great stay at Bali Dive Resort and Spa in Tulamben. Tulamben is quieter than Amed, and still retains a lot of its authentic charm. We were there shortly after Covid restrictions were lifted, so was still particularly quiet. The resort was beautiful and well maintained through Covid, not run down or deserted like some other places we've visited. The managers were attentive and friendly, including their rescue dog. I spent the whole time diving and my spent it relaxing at the pool and beach. The dive shop was fantastic, great wreck & night diving, even good shore diving from the resort's beach. Food was hearty and good value. Would definitely go back!
