The pillows are the fullest I've felt and I slept like a baby. The room was done very tastefully in a minimalist style.
The place is quiet and peaceful, perfectly secluded from the bustle of the world.
The food is excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive to your needs.
The staff make all guests feel important. Airport pickup and drop off is arranged as well.
Diving is also available nearby.

We booked to stay as part of our visit to Bali. Our first stay was in Kutu and then traveled to Tulamben for 4 nights before heading north. We were looking for a relaxing holiday with our friends who are keen divers and the Liberty wreck dive site is near to this resort was perfect for them.
Kajane is not obvious from the road and is approached via unmade road. On arrival we were greeted by Harri and taken to our villa which had a private pool. The villa is more of a lodge and just wonderful, we had our own veranda with table and chairs, fridge and other seating. Around the pool we had lovely sun loungers and having lots of trees was just perfect to get some shade. The bedroom was wonderful, lots of attention to detail. The bathroom which was outside was very different, it is all as the photo's show, the bath was large and carved from stone.
On our first evening we were a little surprised as this hotel has no bar or restaurant but Eka the waitress took our order for drinks and food and asked if we would like our dinner served on the veranda. As our friends who we were traveling with had their villa next door to us and their veranda was slightly larger than ours we decided to have dinner there.
Eka served our dinner which was lovely, she was available to serve us at all times. Breakfast was great, we had a system where we would give her our breakfast order on the evening and time we would like breakfast served and she would bring this to our room each morning. It was very special to sit on our veranda and have our breakfast each morning looking at the sea. Each villa is very secluded and you felt like you were on your own little island. The weather was wonderful and sunshine every day.
Around 3pm each day we were served Afternoon Tea in our room which a nice touch. Anything we wanted we could just pick up the phone and it was done.
During our stay Harri and Eka were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They arranged dive trips for our friends but for us it was more about relaxing around the pool which we both needed.
Kajane is the place for you if you are looking for peace and relaxation. We were the only four people staying and for us this made our stay extra special. We did not want to be entertained or need a large impersonal hotel, Kajane was just what we needed.
Harri, Eka and all the other staff made our holiday very special and now we are home we feel that our stay at Kajane was just the best part , we feel like it was our own Marigold Hotel experience individual, personal and very special

We expected a bit more than what we found at Kajane. The hotel is situated some distance from Tulamben (10-15mins by car). Far out, remote and very quiet. But a good point is that the hotel offers free shuttle to and from Tulamben. Note; that Tulamben caters mainly for scuba divers and there are numerous dive centers, the most famous dive spot is the Liberty Wreck just off the beach. There is also a selection of restaurants (we enjoyed dinner on the top balcony at Wayan restaurant with a great view of Mount Agung). Our sea-facing standard double room on the first floor had a balcony but did not provide the sea-view as such was blocked by trees. The room is serviced twice daily (morning + evening). Breakfast is ordered from a set menu and is served either in the room, on the balcony or by the pool. There is no restaurant on-site, merely tables and chairs by the pool. The bathroom is fitted with a shower over the bath which unfortunately splashed the whole room. The safe is located at the bottom of the cupboard and requires one to kneel or crawl when using. The hotel has a large deep L-shaped pool with loungers and umbrellas. However at no time were cushions or towels provided. The pool bar and massage area were closed. The beach in front of the hotel is not sandy but covered in black volcanic pebbles and rocks. We went in to Tulamben to snorkel the Liberty Wreck. During our stay we found nothing to do other than swimming in the pool, probably because at that time Kajane was our 4th place of accommodation during our Bali tour and we had already done most of our touring. Our stay was intended to be 4-nights but we checked out early (stayed only 3-nights). The management offered a free dinner in compensation from the provided menu, however this catered only for the main course (excluded starter + drinks). On check-out we discovered that the hotel provided free bicycle rental. Small beer at the hotel Rp25,000. We do not recommend this hotel unless you are a scuba diver (the resort next door does have a dive centre). We stayed 3 nights, 16-19 April 2016.

The staff were great, they always are in Bali. The room however was the worst designed room I have ever stayed in. We had a normal room (not a villa). They was east and the sunlight blasts into the room from sunrise. Frosted glass may look pretty but it doesn’t keep the light out, we had to arrange pillows to block the light. The bathroom was also poorly thought out, water goes everywhere when showering, you step up the to shower are and then again to get into it. Water pressure is horrible and the flow is a fast slow cycle as the pump tries to get it to your room. The main bedroom are itself was very spacious and the king size was great. There is no restaurant and all meals are brought to your room. There is however a free car service which will take you into the main area of Tulamben. Lucky as this place is extremely isolated and there is nothing to walk to.

We loved the peacefulness at Kajane Tulamben. Don't go if you need exciting nightlife. This place is for relaxation.
Villa is great. Fun outdoor, upscale bathroom. Your own private pool with views of the Bali Sea.
Best of all was the service. Eka and Artawa really took great care of us, and always with a smile. And when you're ready for Ubud, they'll arrange transportation.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. KajaNe is remote and very private. A very good place to escape the world and relax in your own private pool on the beach. Our room was perfect for us and the staff are beyond helpful. We would just get room service to our room and the food was fantastic and the service friendly and fast. You can arrange lifts into town at any time before 10pm complementary of the resort. On the last night we asked if we could have dinner on the beach and had a lovely 3 course meal on the beachfront which they made truly special for us. Anything you wan't/need just ask they are happy to accommodate hence us asking for a beachfront dinner.
We stayed in the villa with a private pool 1 bedroom with beachfront. The room is like a gorgeous beach bungalow with the best ocean views. It is absolutely private and extremely relaxing and a good place to reconnect and spend some time with your significant other. The pool is really big and deep and we spent the majority of our time in the pool. I found the pool to be very clean and the water was fine. I had seen complaints on here about the pool but if you are going to get in and out of the pool all day with sunscreen, oils, ocean water ect what do you expect? Shower first then get in and the pool stayed perfectly clean for us. The bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on while you can listen to the sounds of the ocean as you go to sleep. This room has a full size fridge in the little outdoor kitchen area on the patio.This was great if you wanted to bring some of your own food and alcohol. I loved the outdoor bathroom and it suited us well as we would spend our days outside. If you are not an outdoor kind of person I would not recommend this room to you. Part of the charm of this outdoor living are the local visitors to the room. The odd frog, lizard and cat but this just adds to the charm of the place. We loved it. The outdoor bathroom is amazing. Loved the shower and the bath. Absolutely gorgeous. Staff mention that some people complain that this room is to hot. Well we are outside people and spent our days outside and did not find the room hot at all. If you are going on a tropical holiday you have to expect it to be hot! We went in September so the garden at this villa was dry but you are on the dry side of the island at the end of the dry season so we were expecting that. If some grass is going to destroy your holiday best to visit at the end of the wet season then.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. We arrived around mid night, the staff were waiting for us despite our late arrival, greeted us with smile and immediately showed us to our room. Even though it was mid night, our room/suite was lit with air conditioning on and ready for us. The staff also told us we can settle the check in/billing after breakfast the next day. Couldn't have asked for a smoother welcome!
The room is spacious with comfortable king size bed, the entire front facing glass wall connected the beautiful outdoor courtyard with the room. The room we booked was within a villa that had 4 separate rooms, however, we were the only people staying there during those days so we had the gorgeous pool and outdoor space to ourselves. There were guests in other villas but I think the hotel might have purposely separated the guests to give guests more privacy.
The food was good, but the best part was having breakfast brought to us in the morning before we are even up. We ate some traditional balinese food next to the pool. It was awesome!
The staff were very accommodating, they drove us to our dive shop in the morning for free, and always smiling. Some of them didn't speak much english but overall no communication issues. We did have water problem a couple times, but the staff were able to fix it within 10 mins each time. There was no hot water for showering which was not the best, but considering everything else plus the weather was hot, no hot water part was minor.

We spent our summer on Bali last year and it included a one week stay at Kajane Tulamben. We are currently planning this years summer vacation and have decided to return to Kajane Tulamben as it was one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had. The service was so excellent, especially the fact that you get breakfast and afternoon tea delivered to your room. Also, you have an outside bathroom and a private pool and a room with a beautiful view. It is simply an excellent hotel that provides excellent service and perfect accommodation.
