Nestle at the foot of Mount Agung and near the beach, this wonderful dive resort is well situated nearby Tulamben best dive sites. I was welcomed with cold fruit drink and friendly staff after a long journey from Kuta, with its friendly staff. My luggage and equipment were ported to my modest bungalow, while enjoy the wonderful blooms and chirping of the birds in common garden between all the smaller bungalows. The front porch with two outdoor seats are well position to enjoy the great ambiance of nature.

There are total of three pools, and a resting hunt for each, which are great places for massages if you wanted. As I walked further in, where all the villa apartments are located, that’s the best place to view the awe of Mount Agung, especially in the sunset evening.

The bungalow room was with king size bed, good for two. And well equipped with drawers, wardrobe, safe box, and drying rack outside, good for stays for weeks and beyond.

The room is also well stocked with amenities of drinking water, complimentary coffee and tea, with a working kettle to go along.

The house is also house with a strong air condition. For me, I always like to take long bath, so a bathtub is definitely lovely for me.

This dive center was well-run. The staff was efficient in getting my documentations and diving gear ready. During my refresher course, they were also attentive and patient to guide about my diving know-how, and are more than willing to share their years of diving experience with. As I haven’t dived for 10 years, they certainly didn’t rush me and kept the refresher experience calm and helpful.

In between break time, their restaurant is always ready to prepared you delicious meals, either western or local, with a decent variety on their menu, including alcohol. You can order special dishes a day in advance, which is nice for bigger group and new friends.

As for safety of diving gear, they always check the gear for us, and with us before we take our transport to the next dive site.

I had a total of 8 leisure dives and it was wonderful seeing all the amazing creatures I had seen before from my previous 65 dives, again! Not only that I also saw Sexy Shrimps, and Harlequin Shrimp for the first time.

It was definitely a wonderful dive trip with the Liberty Dive Resort and a great dive season to be with them!

Liberty Dive Resort is absolutely amazing! The staff smile and want to talk. The rooms are spacious and clean, there are nice water bottles so you can get water. In the bathroom there is body and hair shampoo and conditioner. Liquid hand soap, toothbrush and toothpaste. There is a mini fridge that you can buy from, otherwise there is a small supermarket 140m away with reasonable prices.
We went father, mother and teenager, of which father and child were the ones who wanted to dive.
If you don't want to dive, there is plenty of opportunity to lie by 3 different pool areas with lots of greenery and flowers, comfortable sunbeds and pool towels, as well as massages for reasonable money,
The food in the restaurant has a varied selection of both Balinese and Continental dishes at good prices. The breakfast has 3 different "menus" from which you can choose.
The service is top notch, with the nicest staff.

The diving department had a very high level of service. You are assigned a personal dive guide who follows you on all the dives you want. Equipment is quite excellent if you want to borrow.
You are driven from the resort to the diving sites in small pick-up trucks. Distance to USAT Liberty, which you can dive many times, is 5 min. There are plenty of different Dive sites. Besides Liberty, Coral Gardens can really be recommended. Here you can also get an impression of the local initiatives to develop and preserve the coral reef. It is very impressive.
Please note that sites outside Tulamben cost a small additional amount.
Liberty Dive Resort gets the best recommendations.

Liberty dive resort has always been our go to hotel in Tulamben, we've stayed here a few times and will continue to do so.

The resort itself is eye pleasing, love the three pools, neat gardens, and nice big rooms. Its a close walk to the beach.

All the staff are super friendly and helpful. Thank you for the birthday set up decoration for my daughter. Clean&tidy rooms, with a big bathroom. We chose the newest wing at the back of the resort.

We also did our dive here with Bli Karma and it was amazing, as always. Bli Karma and the dive crew attended to all our needs, even the small things like a hot cup of coffee/tea with some watermelon after every dive. Thank you.

Sorry, cant think of any cons, a recommended hotel indeed.

We have just spent 4 days at Liberty. As newly certified Open Water Divers we were very excited to test out our skills. The diving was quite incredible. We did not have to travel far to experience the Liberty Wreck Dive, coral Garden and Drop off as well as some diving in Kubu. Tama, our guide was really helpful and conscious of our newbie status. Diving was extremely reasonably priced.

The resort itself has an incredibly friendly staff who are very hard working. The gardens are just gorgeous. The restaurant has great simple Indo and western dishes. The prices are so affordable and the food so tasty that we ended up eating there 3 out of 4 nights.

We did our diving in the morning and spent the afternoons lazing by the pool and getting in room massages.

It was the off season during our visit but we were not troubled by rain, our Dive Master told us that visibility was not as good as it usually is but we were certainly not disappointed.

We will definitely be back.

I stayed here for the third time in March and hope to visit many many more times.

It’s such a beautiful place, so tranquil and quiet and beautiful at any time of the day or night. Wayan and his team run an exceptional place to stay and dive from.

I dived for eight consecutive days with Made Saur, the same as during the last two visits. For macro photography, an experienced , patient, skilled and observant local guide is needed. Made has all of these traits in abundance. The macro dives were at least as productive, or probably even better than they were pre-pandemic. I came back with hundreds of pictures of wonderful creatures.

Tulamben has been hit really hard by the absence of Chinese tourists who are really not travelling yet. It’s such a shame. Having been to Lembeh and Ambon and Anilao, I consider Tulamben to be just as good if not better than these areas. Factoring in the beautiful resort, the skill and kindness of the guides and the staff, a stay here is top class experience.

Just had an eight night stay in this beautiful property and loved it so much again. Everywhere was very quiet, nice for divers, but the almost total absence of Chinese divers has hit Tulamben businesses hard. The staff were are friendly and nice as ever, and the whole resort is immaculate.

I was lucky to have had the same guide as last year, Made. I learned so much from him last year about photography and did again this year. Many of the little critters are less than the size of a grain of rice. Guides like Made and his colleagues are rapidly turning Tulamben into the nudibranch capital of the world. I have been lucky enough to have dived most of not all of the macro top spots in Indonesia and the Philippines and the nudibranch spots are best in Tulamben by a mile. The macro spots are not just confined to nudis, we saw wonderful crabs and shrimps including several harlequin shrimps, Donald Duck shrimps, a bobtail squid, a long arm octopus and a hairy octopus.

The Liberty Wreck is of course a wonderful dive and we had it to ourselves for a quarter of an hour on a dawn dive, highly recommended. I first dived the wreck in 2011 and have never seen so many bumpheads as on this trip.

The resort itself is absolutely beautiful with a wonderful garden visited by kingfishers, bee eaters, a squirrel and numerous dragonflies. I loved chatting to Made, the head gardener, about his beautiful plants and lawns in the morning, chilling by the pool in the afternoon and watching the moon and stars little bats after dark.

All in all a wonderful experience at a very affordable price.

Quit resort with good food and really well-maintained. The organization for the diving trips is good, and the diving spots are really amazing. The food is good at the hotel restaurant and the rooms are clean. We had an amazing time there and can't wait to be back!

Place was beautiful. It did help that we pretty much had the area to ourselves. 3 Pools, great messages. The food was OK but we didn't go hungry. Liberty Wreck was some great diving and the guide for my wife and I was just right.

Visited with partner over New Years 2016/2017. Duration, two nights, purpose, to dive the USS Liberty.

The good: Destination, three minute walk to the beech (entry for diving). Hotel staff were greeting and friendly. Hotel grounds were well kept and maintained. The diving.

The Bad: The price. $50 a night is pushing the limits of my budget (student), however, I'm pleased to pay these prices when I'm expecting a return in gratification - it wasn't - The restaurant, not many food options in Tulamben (safety stop is worth a look) but the resort restaurant is in need of some love.
A big one for me, the dive guides lack of safety. Karma, our DM was void of any regard to safety or knowledge about the USS Liberty. The hire equipment was extremely poor, the dive briefing was non existent 'we walk down here, get in here, dive wont be longer than one hour' and when questioned about basic knowledge of the USS liberty his response was always 'I don't know'. Dive briefings, non existent, pre dive safety checks, completed by my AOW partner and myself DM whilst Karma would wait in the water, safety stops completely ignored. My partner and I would stop to do ours whilst Karma would swim off up and wait at the beach.

Worth mentioning - hotel staff and owners / family friends were letting off fireworks inside the resort, often landing very close to customers. Again, zero regard to any safety, surprised no one was injured.

Concluding, awesome dive location, simply can not recommend staying or diving with LDR.

Response from Wayan-Sudarma, General Manager at Liberty Dive Resort
Responded 28 Mar 2017
Dear Jack N, You sent an email to book 1 standard room on Dec. 31th and Jan. 1st. We replied that we will apply 15% discount to Jan. 1st but not to Dec. 31th as the low season discount is only between Jan-Mar. You further confirmed the booking and agreed with paying the price. We always explain our prices clearly to our customers before they book with us. Our prices have no hidden fees. It’s unfair that you said such price is too expensive in the end. We think we gave you good BCD and regulator but not the mask and the wetsuit. At the beginning, we gave a new mask to your girl friend but it is foggy (usually new mask is foggy). And then she took another mask which seems to be not suitable to her face. We do admit that the wetsuit we gave to you was not new. We bought wetsuit frequently; however, the abrasion sometimes was made in a very quick way. Our guide gave briefing before the dive as always and did a safety stop but he didn’t let you know the hand signal used during the dive. Sometimes he came out the water a few minutes earlier than the guests. Maybe that’s why you think that he ignored the safety stop. On new year eve, all hotels at Tulamben will celebrate the coming moment as well as other parts of Bali. Letting off firework is very common in Bali especially on new year eve. As usual, we let off light firework exactly at midnight at the open main pool in front of the restaurant which does not last long. Till now we don’t have any safety problem. But we will consider to terminate this if any customer has a concern.

I have just returned from Bali and this is my third stay at Liberty Dive Resort. Again I must says that the staff here are great. They actually remember me and my wife.
We came in at 7pm at the airport and the driver Ketut is so accommodating in helping us get a simcard and dinner along the way to the resort.
We were check in with the room waiting for us when we reach the resort.
Morning breakfast is the usual mee goring which I must say is the best mee goreng here in Bali. We practically have mee goreng everyday.
The dive guides here are very entertaining and professional, making you comfortable. I could not dive during this trip as I had a very bad block nose. But we still have an awesome time, we had booked a day tour to the mountain and visited the Batur Natural Hot Spring. All being taken care by another driver of the same name, Ketut.
And here we also met an elderly couple from Canada, Norman and Barbara, they were also been charmed by this place.
Lastly I would like to thanks the staff of Liberty Dive Resort for the wonderful time spend. Thank you.

Yes, there is definitely good snorkeling. I'm a diver but snorkeled on our last day (no diving 24 hours before flying rule) and the snorkeling was also great.
