The resort is on the the shore front and so provides excellent access to the dive shop, the restaurant and the beach (for shore dives). It is compact, but attractive and quiet (though I think the guesthouse rooms could be noisy as they are situated on the main road which is busy during the day, quiet at night). The staff are all lovely - very friendly and helpful. Our room was very reasonably priced, if small, and there was a problem with the plumbing, so there was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. Despite this problem, overall we were very happy with our stay at Matahari Tulamben. It was a great place to meet other divers.

After covid we finally could go back to Bali. And of course back to Matahari. We booked a year in advance and asked for one of the bigger bungalows and friends of us took the other bungalow. We arrived on time at the airport and our driver from Matahari was waiting for us. The transfer to the resort went smooth, even with the heavy traffic around the airport. Arriving at the resort was so very nice. All the people working there before covid are still working there! Suci, the owner, has kept the people healthy and provided food during the pandemic. Everybody still knew my name and we were really welcome once again. The 19 days went without any problem, only too fast! Once again had a wonderful dive vacation at this resort. Really enjoyed this beautiful place, nice staffs and the great food. Many thanks to the receptionist who immediately arranged a car to take me to the hospital when I felt unwell and patiently waited for me at hospital to take me back to the resort. Dive center: Our dive guides Ketur (hope I spelled it correctly) and Gun were amazing, very experienced and super friendly! Thank you so much for the safe and wonderful diving experience these days. Spa: Kuman is my favorite spa therapist, massage was very relaxing. Thank you Suci and your great team. We will definitely come back again!

We stayed here for 5 days doing an advanced adventurer diving course. Didi was a great instructor and a super nice person, and we enjoyed our time with him a lot. The diving here is excellent and feels very safe. The location of the hotel is perfect - right on a beautiful beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the good vibes and calmness - it felt like home!

We booked a whole package at matahari, ssi Open water diving course and spa. Everything was exceptionaly good, the communication between suci in adwance was super nice and uncomplicated. Diving center: As i said me and my son booked also a diving course,. Didi was our diving instructor, as a father of a 14 year old kid I was a bit scared of the diving course, but obviously for no reason. Didi is an awesome teacher, he took his time explaining us everything in detail and was super friendly. My son had some problems with one of his tooth while diving and unfortunately we couldnt finish the course because we already booked another location in ubud. This is THE place for muck diving, especially to see rare nudibranchs. Period. The resort has cozy rooms, a SPA, pool and a beautiful twi story open restaurant and dive center right at the beach. All inside the resort. Food, staff, diving, all 10/10 perfect. And all of that at a sensationally good price, too. We stayed here as a couple and had an amazing dive guide to ourselves for the whole time. But there is something for everyone: We saw happy solo travelers, couples and even a group of 11. Suci and her team cater the best experience for you. We stayed for 10 nights, originally planned for 6 only, but we had to extend because it's just amazing. The team helped us in everything. I stayed at the Matahari for 16 nights and had the best time! The location is brilliant... straight out the fron is Suci's Place a house reef which is just amazing for macro photography.... a 100m along the beach to the right is another great dive site, The Drop Of; as the name suggests, its a steep wall dropping to perhaps 100m? with great marine life everywhere... and then of course about 200m down the beach to the left of Matahari is the Liberty Wreck. I did 36 wonderful dives in 12 days, accommpanied by Parta, the best local dive guide I have ever had in my 40 yeras of diving. His skill in finding small creatures was amazing which meant I got sooooo many more photos than usual. I made a last minute reservation and the staff was prepared for my arrival. The property is located on a very narrow strip perpendicular to the ocean, so there is a an alleyway with rooms on either side, so the view from most of the rooms is not scenic. BUT, you shouldn't be in your rom other than sleeping and showering anyway!!! The pool and restaurant areas have sweeping views of the ocean. The room was what I expected for the very good price- clean, comfortable and functional. I didn;'t need any of the frills that higher end hotels offer. The included breakfast had a number of egg and pancake choices and was freshly cooked and tasted good. Staying here for 4 days and having a really nice stay. I was staying with my friends and taking the family room. The room is very clean and neat. But the family room only have 1 bathroom, so if you are traveling with others and have problems with 'waiting for toilet' you might want to have regular room instead of the family room. They have refrigerator, wardrobe place, giving you coffee and tea. The breakfast are good. Staff are friendly.
