I feel like this place is a hidden gem. It is friendly to all types of travelers as long as you like to scuba dive. The scuba instructor there Steve was fantastic. There was 2 others that were in training to get certified as dive masters. They were also great as well. If you want a comfy quiet place to stay where the staff is very friendly then this is your spot. It’s not as high end but I found it to be perfect. Make sure when you go to say hello for me. Bring your computer for entertainment such as movies to watch etc as there is only 1 channel in English on the TV that works. 10/10 though. Will be back to dive again!

It's a beautiful and quite place! The room it's super comfortables, spacious and clean! The beds are very comfortable! Has air con, wardrobe with shelves, TV, and coffee facilities. The bathroom it's big and super nice shower. Has a little balcony that is very pleasant. The whole property it's really beautiful with lots of plants and super well maintained. The staff are wonderful! So welcoming and polite, really nice people! Breakfast area with sea view and good options. They offer transfer besides also helping you with everything. It's a great place to stay away from the main road but super close to everything. Truly recommend! Regards Sam and Hernán

Everything was perfect. Comfortable bed, pillows, air-conditioning, and very quiet - slept really well during my stay. The staff were superb, all really helpful and friendly. Loved the complementary breakfast, especially the nasi goreng! There were also complementary bottles of the water in the room and a mini-fridge, which I really appreciated (ice cold water after a long hot day!). The hotel was up a small hill from the main road, so is a little further from the beach than most other places but was very quiet and peaceful. Plus there was a great view of the ocean from the restaurant!
Perhaps not directly related to the hotel but the driver that they arranged to take me back to Kuta on my last day was rather unprofessional. He stopped to purchase personal items, and complained incessantly when we were caught in the Kuta traffic. He also didn't have navigation and I had to direct him on google maps to the hotel, which he also failed to spot on the first go up a narrow one-way street. This was just the driver though, doesn't take points off the hotel itself, which was very lovely!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was fantastic! We would have stayed longer but we did not have enough time. The location is great, Tulamben is not much more than a road with dive shops, a few restaurants and some villas/dive resorts. The location of this place is just off the main road, up far enough to be away from noisy motorcycles and to have a sense of peacefulness, but close enough to walk to the Main Street where there are restaurants. However, the food at Ocean Villa and Homestay is great, as everything is cooked from scratch and there really is no need to eat elsewhere! We tried several different restaurants that were okay. The room is simple but clean and the mattress soft. What we really like about this place was the feeling of relaxation and calmness. And NO CHICKENS chatting at 4am...
Finally the staff, you guys are wonderful! The owner is super friendly and accommodating, while the rest of the staff are very kind.
Thank you for a truly enjoyable stay.

I had room #5, which is different from the other rooms - I think it's their family room. It has a large bed (queen or king) and a single bed in one room. The bathroom is HUGE, like 200 square feet, big enough to be a bedroom, and the bedroom is spacious too, and contains a mini fridge and kettle, which was nice. Also has both a/c and fan. However, unlike the other rooms it does not have a private patio. No big deal though because the pool is right outside. It was also slightly less private than the other rooms because it adjoins the family's kitchen. However, they were very quiet. The room has huge sliding doors that let in a lot of light, a nice garden view, very peaceful, yet just a block away from Tulamben's main street, and 2 blocks from the wreck everyone comes to town to see. WIfi was also fast.
Everyone was very friendly and kind. I think my only complaint would be that the food is bland and not very good. I got Asian Noodle Soup and it tasted like Ramen noodles. Although lots of fruit was for sale a block away, all they had was watermelon so they could only give me watermelon juice plus watermelon slices at breakfast. However, it was a very nice convenience to have all meals available on site.
I also asked for a massage and they called a woman in her 40s or 50s who spoke very little English but gave a great massage.
My other comment is about Tulamben itself (nothing to do with Ocean Villa Homestay). As a snorkeler, not a diver, I was very disappointed by Tulamben. The water was rough and visibility was poor, and what I saw was nowhere near as good as what I had seen all over Amed. Therefore, I think Amed is a much better place for snorkeling. Also, it's a much more pleasant place. Tulamben has one main street so you're either eating right on the busy street with all the noise, or down by the ocean which is not very appealing here, and all the food in town was bland and overpriced. No good Indonesian meals and no pleasant eating environments here at all. Maybe if you're a diver it's all worth it, but if you're not, stay in Amed and enjoy the great snorkeling and beautiful, quiet restaurants with all kinds of great food!

Ocean Villa is like a 5-star hotel. It is immacuately clean and quiet. The beds are very comfortable. Hot water works immediately in the showers. Wifi is strong in the restaurant/lounge area but weak in room 3. The staff is attentive without being overbearing. The staff grabbed me a straw for my coconut without me having to ask- great service! Order the marlin at the restaurant- very fresh! It is only a short walk into town for food and diving. Komang and Tom are wonderful hosts who made us feel right at home. And we loved Sparky, their maltese dog. We have found our home in Tulamben.Terima kasih banyak, Komang dan Tom! :)

This is the third time we have stayed here. It’s a friendly, clean group of villas. Breakfasts are freshly made and delicious.
The pool is small but nice.
We will definitely stay again.
We have stayed in the normal rooms, and the family room at the end. The only room I don’t like is the one with the upstairs bedroom and the lower level looks like a cheap lobby

We stayed here for a week whilst diving with Let’s Dive Tulamben - the best dive school around. The hotel is idyllic, set in a beautiful garden which the staff water and tend endlessly. There are amazing views of the sea from the dining room which is set on a small balcony and Mount Agung is behind. There are only about 6 rooms. The first two days it was just our family of four. There were more staff than us and we felt totally spoilt. Amazing value too - £50 per night B&B for all four of us in two en-suite rooms. The food is lovely and reasonably priced. There is no need to go out. Dishes are served one at a time as they are cooked individually which means that they are wonderfully fresh. Komang arranged for a driver to collect us from Sanur. It was all so simple. If you want peace and quiet, this is the place for you. Totally relaxing Balinese retreat. Thank you!

The room is nice, comfortable bed and you get two free bottles of water each day. There’s a few movie channels in English available if you wanted to watch one! The homestay isn’t too far from the beach and is walkable, 5/10 minutes from restaurants, mini mart and ATM.
We had our laundry done, all came back clean and ironed but hadn’t dried properly so it all had a very bad smell.
All the staff are lovely, the owner acted very strangely though. We rented her snorkel equipment the first day to go snorkelling with a guide that she arranged for us, my advice is to rent them near the beach! The life jackets are more for boats than snorkelling and are falling apart from the inside out, we ended up just using a couple of her things and rented elsewhere as well. We planned on going snorkelling the next day with the same guide and when the owner asked we said we didn’t need to rent her snorkelling gear (one day out of two isn’t bad surely?), clearly she took exception to this as when our guide arrived she told him we were still in bed and hadn’t yet had breakfast when actually she’d seen us have breakfast an hour before and knew we were waiting for him. She then lied to us and said he’d come an hour before he actually had, it begs the question, why didn’t she knock on our door? (Which reminds me, they aren’t shy about knocking on your door up to 9pm at night to see if you’re coming for dinner, I took this as a courtesy at the time but looking back I’m not so sure) Luckily we caught up with the guide later in the day and explained what had happened, we still rented our snorkelling equipment from him. A spiteful move from the owner just because she couldn’t get any more money out of us. Ridiculous business strategy if you ask me.
Breakfast was disappointing, advertised as a full English/Irish breakfast which it is far from. We had pancakes one day and they were barely cooked.
Overall a nice little place if you’d like somewhere on the cheaper side, nice staff, questionable management, eat elsewhere!

We stayed in Ocean Villa & Homestay for 3 lovely nights. The nearby volcano was active during our stay in tulamben, so there were not so many other tourists around. Basicly we shared the whole hotel with 2 other people so it really felt like a personal paradise. Staff of the hotel is very friendly, rooms and other facilities were clean. Hotel restaurant is very very good and cheap, in my opinion the best in tulamben!. The hotel is few hundred meters from the main road so there are no traffic noises around. If we are ever going back to tulamben, Ocean Villa & Homestay is definately our choice.
