Detailed Reviews
Loved our stay at Anantara. We're from California and it was our first trip to Bali for our honeymoon and we were blown away by the service, the staff really made us feel special and welcomed where ever we went. They were so kind, attentive, and friendly, we had not experience that level of genuine kindness at any other 5 star hotel back home. The hotel is modern, clean, spacious, beautiful - we loved it!
We had breakfast buffet included and it was good, lots of options and it was really convenient, plus a spectacular view. The room service was hit or miss, a lot of their western dishes were mediocre at best, but the asian dishes were good.
The hotel location is about 20-30 minute walk to a bunch of restaurants and shopping, but the benefit is you're right on the beach and walking distance to a beach lounge or surf school. The cabs are so inexpensive that when we got tired of walking we would just cab into town for dining.
We didn't use the spa so can't comment on that.
The property itself is spacious but relatively small, it doesn't feel like that when you're there but they didn't offer many onsite activities. This was fine for us, they were available to help you book things off property.
Overall would stay here again if we were in Seminyak. The service is what really stood out to us, thank you to the team for making our stay so memorable!

As GHA Platinum, I was upgraded to the suite on the highest floor overseeing the beach, given late check out and a box of their yummy Pie Susu. The initial hiccup of usage of Discovery Dollars were resolved prior to my check in thanks to the responsive reservation team.
The suite assigned was HUGEEEEE. There was a Jacuzzi on the terrase overseeing the beach and beautiful sunset. There was also a bid sofa where we can work from while wondering if we should continue working on just shut down the laptop.
The room was with King Size bedroom, there was long desk where we can work from, big corner sofa that can easily fit an adult to sleep on and a lazy cozy bamboo chair with feet stool. bathroom was again very spacious with 2 sinks, big shower area (rainwater shower head), then bathtub big enough to fit 2 , and toilet (with its own door. The was a glass panel between the bathroom and the room so we can see the ocean while soaking in the bath.
Staff were fab!! particularly the manager on duty and the F&B Manager.
The hotel has been there for over 10 years and given how close it is to the beach, some serious maintenance/renovation is required for the common area.
There was some structural issue on the on the roof that cause leakage from one of the pools of the roof bar area. Water constantly dripping onto the wooden panels of the pool area. Some parts of the hotels were not looked after well and some part has weird smell.
Location wise, it is super as it has direct access to the beach. You can do long walk if you start early enough in the morning or walk in the afternoon and be rewarded with beautiful sunset.
Bfast menu is ala carte buffet with lots of options. They dishes was fab! If one is not there for bfast, lunch between 12-4 pm was of buy 1 get 1 free which provides super value!

I love how spacious the room is, mine is Seminyak Ocean Suite. The staffs were friendly and they have a lot of promotions going on in their restaurant "Sunset On Seminyak" like this steak and fries that I had for dinner is only IDR 50.000. The most worth-the-price steak that I have ever eaten. It is a beachfront property so enjoy the Seminyak beach right in front of you and there are lost of shops and restaurants nearby making it a hotel with a great location.

As an avid fan of the Anantara Hotel brand, I feel compelled to write a review to express our utter disappointment with Anantara Seminyak property in Bali. At first look, the property seemed to have all the elements needed for a nice vacation. Upon a closer look at the property, it is extremely run down from top to bottom. No amount of smiles from the hotel team can make up for a pool that is literally falling apart as we swam. Pool tiles were falling off the pool and the chaises are broken and in complete disarray. The towels are old discolored and frayed. The pool staff was inattentive. The bathroom and shower area by the pool, looks like it belongs to the public beach. The hose to rinse the sand off from the beach is hard to find, and had no bench or towels to dry off with. I would have used the run off water from the pool but it looks like there are exposed wires and my confidence that it is not safe is high.
The furniture on the rooftop deck where guests have breakfast and where the bar for sunset drinks is, is old beat up and needs to be refurbished or replaced. The wood decking through out the property is warping and dangerously uneven.
The room was nice but the finishing touches such as caulking needs to be addressed as well as the chaise on the deck, which needs painting. We have stayed in quite a few Anantara resorts in South East Asia and have seen what the Anantara brand stands for and the quality properties they strive to present to their guests. At previous stays with Anantara, we have had the pleasure to meet with the hotels general managers and have felt the passion they have for their properties, their staff and the company they work for. I did not feel the love by this management team or their commitment to make our Anantara experience the best that it could be. We finally had an opportunity to speak with the General Manger, Terence T Lee and he seemed rather unapologetic or phased by our concerns and disappointment. I just did not see any passion for the property, nor appreciation for loyal customers to the brand.
Sadly this experience has been disappointing and will have a monumental impact on where we choose to book vacations in the future.

Greeted with a welcome drink and seated at the lobby before Dewi(I think that’s her name) took us to our room. The room is very spacious with most of the amenities you will need, even insecticide repellent.
Everything was great however after settling in we realised that the room had a smell. The staff were quick and did their best to remove with chemicals but after 4hrs, we came back and the smell was still there so Dewi quickly arranged another room for us which was a lot better.
There is a decent size pool but you got to be careful if you are walking bare footed on the pool deck as there were a few rusty and broken metal hinges sticking out of it.
Aside from the negative, I would say the highlight of the stay would be the jacuzzi in the balcony which was fun with the bubbles.
Also if you plan to surf, you can just walk out to the beach and rent a board and/or an instructor.
Did not get to enjoy the F&B outlets however we managed to catch the beautiful sunset from the rooftop restaurant.

Overall, I enjoy my stay in Anantara Seminyak (stay on 19 - 23 November 2020)
Pros:
1) Location is very ultimate, you are literally in the hear of Seminyak, close proximity to other trendy bars / restaurants / beach club in the area, very recommended for those who look the option of staying in 'sunset beach' side and easy access to the beach (just stone thrown away)
2) The room, very spacious , I love the gigantic bathroom and walking closet.
Stayed at 5th Floor and got view direct ocean facing, I recommend you all to pick Seminyak Ocean Suite category, it is worth it! The view is breathtaking
The bed is very comfy, I love it!
3) The people, most of them are friendly and courteous, always ready to provide services.
Shout out to the 2 ladies at breakfast restaurant, you are the stars of my stay, Im sorry cant recognize their names
4) Room Feature, i love they provide many amenities to give modern touch ambiance in the rooms , e.g ; wireless bluetooth speakers, wireless phones, plenty of electricity socket near the bed, etc
But the best feature I think is the outdoor tub at the balcony with the bubble jet, I love to spend my afternoon relaxing in the tub while gazing the beautiful Seminyak sunset.
Now the downside :(
1) Resort failed to make extra wow service during this birthday trip, had mentioned during my reservation request this trip is to celebrate 30th birthday, however during my stay and on my birthday, there ware no recognitions at all :(
There was just an autogenerated email from Anantara HQ but I prefer human touch instead of just an automated message
2) Heard the resort has done refurbishment recently, however I feel like some areas were left untouched , e.g : pool area, there are many damage on its floor, the wooden parquet floor looks dusty and definitely need serious polishing treatment, water leakage from resort's room to the pool area, etc
Will I come back to this resort? Hell yeah for sure!
Hopefully the management can resolve with the property maintenance issues, I love the hotel and believe Anantara Seminyak can go further to reclaim its position as strong hotel contender in the neighborhood

I was surprised with the price we paid the hotel facilities did not meet our expectation. the location is very good but the room need some renovation, the wooden floor was blacked and scratchy, the drain in the shower was clogged, the front swimming pool area urgently needs renovation, the swimming pool tiles coming off and some of them laid in the bottom of the swimming pool, this is dangerous and my feet got hurt by that. The good part is we can see sunset from the room balcony and the room has a jacuzzi so we do not need to swim in the pool.

The service in this Hotel is amazing, they give you a real sense of caring and a strong feeling that they want you to enjoy your stay as much as possible. Ask and you will receive.
We spent 2 nights in this hotel with my wife and 3 kids (7,5 & 1) and the hotel was able to accommodate us in the same room with extra bedding and a cot for the baby. I was impressed that they provided complimentary breakfast for all even though this was not included in my booking (note that the breakfast as a la carte and not buffet), they managed to baby proof the hotel balcony for us without us requesting which was thoughtful.
The hotel location is amazing as it is on the beach with lots of restaurants nearby and a 15 min walk to some street side shopping. The room was fantastic and huge with large walk in closet, amazing bathroom and uninterrupted sunset sea views from the Balcony. They also provide a jacuzzi spa bath on the balcony which is amazing.
There were one drawback from my stay which is why I only rated it 4 stars. The hotel was closed for 2 years during Covid and it shows. They need to renovate urgently (which they are doing incrementally) The balustrades look rusty, the jets in our spa bath weren't working, the lift doors looked like they belonged in a warehouse and the general feel doesn't shout 5 stars.
I didn't get to experience the spa or the gym as they were being renovated, I would normally be upset about not being informed in advance however the hotel did offer an alternative hotel gym and spa to be used if you wanted to.
Overall I was happy with my stay but also glad that it was only 2 nights and not longer. I am not sure I would travel back to this hotel until they have fully renovated.

The hotel is old, but they have spacious room with jacuzzi and bath up inside the room.
Personally, the room is outstanding eventhough quite old , just need to be cleaned thoroughly (maybe because the effects of pandemic situation still not over yet).
The breakfast is not my favourite. There is no buffet breakfast as usual, but you will need to order the food by menu prepared and they will service that for you.
Bad odor at the lobby (this point need to upgrade badly). Small lobby, just in case you're on vacation with big families (like me), sitting at the lobby waiting for room is not a good idea.
Always ask the room facing the beach, but need to be careful of the fence since it's rusty all over and harmful for kids.
I got the room way back at the building, with only 1 elevator operating for the entire guests..imagine that...

The hotel is not worth the price - the hotel is very run down only 1 lift and guest and staff is using this one lift which is very slow as well. The swimming pool has jacuzzi but none of them work. The showers at the pool is in a pathetic state and not maintained to be used. the staff do not follow instructions very well, when told to send the afternoon tea up to the room daily at certain time and need to be chased. Service staff are forgetful and have to keep asking for towels and bath mat after cleaning the room

Definitely agree with Wendy robins. We still absolutely loved our stay, staff were so exceptionally friendly and helped us with every little thing. Rooms are still very nice and pool is very nice , hotel only looks a little old in some places only. However it’s still a great resort to stay at!
You may be dealing with an agent rather than the hotel directly. Suggest you call or email the hotel directly.
I mistakenly dealt with an agent who charged 10% of the total anticipated bill just to book - on my card.
Sounds like you are being scammed.
