We stayed over Christmas and had a fantastic stay. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and made our stay enjoyable. The villa was well appointed and comfortable and the pool was the perfect place to cool down. Eddie was always happy to drive us anywhere and always with a story and some laughs. Billy was a delightful manager and very helpful with any queries, and an impromptu pillow fight with the kids 😊.
Breakfast was always served with a smile and was delicious. Staff were happy to help order in dinner and have a great knowledge of brilliant places to eat out.
Will happily recommend to future travellers. Thank you for a wonderful holiday

We had 10 days in the 5 room Luas Villa. Was great having the large communal area and pool. The staff were fantastic, especially Eddie who we had as our driver for most places. The villa was very quiet, no road noise. We had such a relaxing time at the villa. Thanks so much to Billy, Eddie, Rodney, Katut and Ayu for looking after us. Wonderful memories 😄

We stayed in the 4 bedroom villa on a girls trip away and it suited our need perfectly. The staff are very attentive and cook a really good breakfast, wash your clothes, book massages and arrange travel. The pool is lovely, clean and refreshing. The villa itself is modern, the rooms are huge and all the ensuites are large with a bath and showers. The open plan kitchen and living area is perfect for entertaining and having drinks. The decor is modern and we really enjoyed coming back to our clean washing each day. There are some lovely restaurants within walking distance or the staff will call through take-aways for you.
Traffic can be bad going to the beach or shopping so plan the time right. If you go around 9am in the morning and come back to the villa early afternoon the traffic was fine. It is too far to walk to the beach from here so you will need to drive everywhere.
The place is a fantastic little get-away and much quieter than being right in the heart of Seminyak.

Over the last 3 years I've had several stays here which for me says a lot. with over 40 visits to Bali I never prior to staying here have stayed more than once at any other accomodation.

The villa is massive huge living area and the rooms are giant size not king size!!! You could fit several beds in each room the ensuite which every room has is to die for. The pool is nice and cool and the air con cold 😊 Most importantly they are clean!!!

This trip I had the Tweens/ teens and brats with me shopping with little ones is no fun for them or you so I strongly suggest taking advantage of the FREE day time baby sitting my 7,6,5 year olds loved staying at the villa with the staff way more than being dragged around in the heat and the staff are very attentive to them 😊 Night time sitting can be arranged for me I like to use the villa staff as they no the villa and are with your children more than a one off.

We had a birthday party for my daughter big 5 the staff shopped and prepared our banquet which was to die for !!! For under $100 AUS we feed 18 people (we invited all the staff and families) we had a lovely night.

Billy is the manager his English is spot on 😊 He has fantastic local knowledge of places to visit and eat at 😊 Eddie is the best bloody driver in Bali and can safely get you to any place you need to go to 😉 His English is also very good. The lady's Ayu and Katu along with Rodney love to learn as much English as they can they are amazing with kids and very good cooks 😊

All in all love the location and the staff really do go above and beyond looking after all their guests 110% recommend Pulau Tenang ... it feels like home

My recent stay at the Pulau Tenang Bali Villas was the second time i have stayed with my family at this beautiful place! All the staff are amazing and genuine people! They are just like family and are always willing to lend a hand when needed. The staff were even in on my surprise engagement and did so well to keep the secret! (I had no idea!!!) The staff are lovely with my younger sister-in-laws (all under 5) and take good care of all of us when we are there! It is always lovely to stay with these beautiful people and i would recommend it to families and people of all ages!!! :D

Having just arrived home from the best holiday ever in Bali I must let you all know what a wonderful place Pulau Tenang Bali Villas is to stay. The wonderful friendly staff who were amazing, friendly, funny and very hospitable, yummy breakfasts made for us each morning, our washing done each day, nothing was ever a problem, I can't speak highly enough of them and now regards them as my friends, thank you all. The rooms are huge and cleaned every day and are very family friendly, would definitely stay here again and have no problem recommending Pulau Tenang Bali Villas to all.

Avoid!!!! Out in the sticks with nothing around. There are some great restaurants around 1km away but there are no footpaths and the roads are narrow and not safe to walk on. Way too dangerous if you have young children. If you want to stay in this area stay at Villa Besar...they appear beautiful and the staff are so thoughtful and helpful.

This is a copy of my email to the owners...I think it says everything. Owners not really interested and offered excuses. Not good for a villa at $300 per night for 4 rooms...had better at a $20 per night hotel.

We were picked up from the airport as arranged by Billy and Eddie who are really great people and very friendly. We arrived at the villas and then there was a bit of a rain storm that happens this time of year. My wife and myself selected the first room by the pool (the room with the four poster bed). The room and the villa in general looked great.

After being at the villa for an hour or so there was a really bad sewerage smell in our room and the room next to us. It was really bad in our room and we saw a security who had a look and said there was nothing they could do until the next day but he got a couple of cans of air freshener and sprayed the room to mask the smell. We could not sleep in the room that night and spent the night on the couches outside. No smell but we were eaten by mosquitoes. Well not much sleep that night.

Then the next day, the room was a bit better but the bathroom still had the sewerage smell, for the whole time we were there, so we had to keep the door closed and the light and fan on in the bathroom. If you had to use the bathroom you almost fainted when you walked in. Very hard to sleep with the light on and the buzz of the fan. This was the same for the whole stay and I did spend a few nights on the outside couch all rugged up...sweated like hell.

Also, while we were in the pool and sometimes while everyone sat outside there was a real sewerage smell that would come in from time to time.

On the first morning there we got our breakfast which was really yummy. We don't eat pork and we had told Billy the night before that there must be no pork. Of course the fried rice came out with pork and when my wife took her's back there was no problem...no more rice but we had toast. She went back to the kitchen to request for butter knife and fork but the girl in the kitchen snapped in Balinese which she doesn't know at that point that my wife understood what she said. Maybe the girl had a rough day but that is certainly not a way to speak to a guest.

Billy informed us that there was always someone at the villa like 24 hour security. I don't know if that is one of your policies or not but this does not happen.

The night security organised take away on our first night which was great. Billy said if we want anything to ask the security guy and he will order for us. Of course on the second night we got back to the villa as was going to order something to eat but there was no security person there. Oh well, we walked to the Outback, a great little restaurant.

While we stayed there we had 2 power failures. One because of a faulty fan and one a power company rolling blackout. The first one happened on our Third night around 8.30. There was no one there and we had a look in the fuse box ourselves. We ended up having to wait until after 10pm before someone came. Of course nothing he could do until the next day but at least he got us onto wifi using Villa Besar wifi. Not off to a good start.

The second blackout happened on our second last night. Once again, there was no one around to find out what was going on. We wandered around for a few hours like lost sheep but the power did come on after about 1.5 hours but no wifi again. We had to wait until after 10 pm for the guy to come and reset the modem.

One of the talking points after the first few nights was that the sheets on all the beds were not changed. I doubt if they had been changed from the previous guests. Our sheets had stains on them and the girls in the forth room had what looked like blood stains. We all purchased some sarongs and put them on the sheets to sleep on. The sheets were changed ready for our sixth night. Also, the doonas need to have a wash every now and then.

On about our seventh night at the villa there was a big rain storm. No real problem until we went into the bathroom and water was coming down out of the roof and flooding the place. In the room next to us the water in the bathroom was coming up through the floor tiles.

I don't know if you know or not but the villa has a huge problem with ants and cockroaches. We all were bitten many times out by the pool by the ants. The ants are everywhere and get into everything. There were also heaps of little cockroaches around in the cupboards, in the beds and they also got into the luggage which we found when we got back to Perth and a lot of the things that we declared were taken off us cause there were cockroaches in the bags. All of our bags had to be sprayed at customs.

Billy and Eddie are not really around much. Eddie usually arrives first and then Billy comes in but only stays for a short time before he leaves. I must admit that if we wanted anything we would go and see the girl at reception at Villa Besar. She is brilliant and very very helpful. She helped us with taxis and places. She is so nice and she even let me use her computer to print some stuff out. Excellent.

I apologise for having to write this but truthfully we were a little let down about it all. I was quite embarrassed as I was the one that chose the villa and building it up. I am the sort of person that goes with the flow so I do find it hard to point these things out. Just disappointed and I feel responsible for the group. I had been to Bali many times while the others were mainly first times and I wanted them to have the experience of a lifetime even if my holiday was not too good.

Other travelers beware

Response from Pulau Tenang B, Owner at Pulau Tenang Bali Villas
Responded 24 Mar 2015
Isn't it coincidental that our only 3 bad reviews in 3 years of operation are all from the same group who stayed in February. We do understand that Bali did have above average amounts of rainfall during your stay. Natural events are beyond our control. Out in the sticks??? No guests have ever complained that the villas are out in the sticks. Your opinion of out in the sticks is obviously different to the general public. We are located away from the hustle and bustle with many great restaurants close by giving our villas that unique, relaxing location. Dangerous for children?? Definitely NOT !! All of your group were elderly with no young children. Travellers out there you only need to read all of the reviews of families with young children who have stayed in our villa. Our staff also went above and beyond to cook your group a Indonesian lunch in the villa. They wanted to express their sincere apologies for any inconveniences caused during your stay. Not one of you have ever mentioned this in your reviews or thanked them. We never made up any excuses about all your complaints as we answered them in all honesty and resolved them as quickly as possible. Here is a copy of the email in response to this reviewer. I am glad you had a wonderful time in Bali and arrived home safely. Words cannot explain how extremely sorry I am for the inconvenience and annoyance that you all had to put up with due to the sewerage problem. This problem has never happened to us previously and I am embarrassed about the whole situation as we try to offer a high level of quality service. We have since had the problem solved which was caused by a partial blockage due to a sanitary napkin being flushed down the toilet by a previous guest. The large amount of rain you received only compounded the issue further. I do sincerely apologise for the pork in the breakfast. If only you had mentioned it to me prior to your stay I would have sent a message to all my staff so this would not have happened. We do love to cater for everyones needs whether it is cultural or allergy related. I had Billy ask all the staff about the verbal incident with your wife but none of them seem to remember anything happening. I don't know if there was any misunderstanding but can you please ask your wife what was the staff members name so we can deal directly with her accordingly. Yes we do have 24hr security. There is always at least one staff member at the villa's until 4pm every day and then we have night security come on at 5pm until 7am the following morning. On Wednesday and Sunday evenings one of our security guards has a rostered day of so they don't start until 10pm and go thru to 7am. For some reason, Bali in general does have black outs which I am aware of and this is beyond our control. Billy said that one of the fans had became faulty that night due to moisture and this was the reason why the power did trip out. This problem was rectified the next day. Again this is something that has never happened to us with guests and I do apologise further. As far as linen and towel changes are concerned, our staff have strict instructions which they follow religiously. All towels and linen are fresh on arrival, with towels changed daily and linen every 3rd day. We only just purchased new sheets in October last year for both villas. We do have a lot of guests who get tattoos which in turn becomes a daily struggle to keep stains off the sheets. Another cause for stains is when guests have outside masseurs come in and massage guests without removing doonas and putting towels or sarongs over the sheets allowing the oil to soak into the sheets. The doonas get washed on a regular basis and sent to the laundromat for dry cleaning. I do know this as I pay the accounts. Ants are a problem in any tropical climate, even here in Broome and especially during the wet season. We do our best to contain them but no matter what you do they hang around and even more so when it is raining. As far as the cockroaches go this is a new problem which we are not aware of and have also never had this problem before. We were only over in Bali 7 days prior to yourselves arriving and we never saw any and I really hate cockroaches. I have had a pest control specialist attend to them immediately. Billy did mention to me you had your own driver and spent most days out sight seeing. Eddie and Billy are both our drivers so they were in and out all day with our other guests. They also would of had a rostered day of each in the time of your stay. They both informed me that you and your other guests had many conversations. It is a shame you had to go to Villa Besar office as we have 6 full time staff members between 2 villas with 4 minimum being rostered on at one time. Anyone of them could have called you a taxi or booked tours etc. We also have a computer and printer at the villa and I know for sure that Billy would not have hesitated for you to use it. I do appreciate you writing to me with your complaints you had during your stay as I have had them rectified immediately. Can I just say that we and all our staff try to excel in everything we do to offer all our guests a relaxing and memorable stay. I can honestly say we have never had any serious complaints in nearly 3 years of operation which can be seen from all our happy guests words in the guest comment book in the villas and on our facebook page. Once again I would like to offer our sincere apologies.

for anyone thinking of a holiday in Bali - this is the place to stay! The property is located in the quiet villa area of umalas, out of the hustle and bustle of Kuta and seminyak, but within a short drive. It villa is immaculate, a practical layout with the most luscious, tranquil tropical garden and pool. The quality fit out of furniture and traditional Balinese design creates a calm, relaxing environment.
The staff are at your service 24/7 to drive, cook, clean, or arrange activities, what ever we needed; and security is there in the evenings when the day staff have left.
It is the staff that made our stay, they were so hospitable and accommodating to anything we needed while still respecting our privacy. The manager Billy arranged an awesome Indonesian Feast one evening for us all for my wife's birthday, and then to top it off, they went beyond the call of duty and arranged a birthday cake that had to be seen to be believed!
We will definitely be staying at Pulau Tenang again, and I will be recommending all of my Australian friends too stay there also. I have travelled the world and stayed in many places, everything can never be perfect, but here is pretty close to it!
