Braeside was wonderful. Delicious breakfasts. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. The owner Alain is very dedicated to seeing to the comfort of guests. The Marloth Nature Reserve is 5 minutes away and we enjoyed 2 days of walking. Swellendam is definitely worth more than a drive through visit and Braeside is central and convenient.

I can only echo the positive comments made. This is a unique place with exquisite antique furniture and decor. This is an old colonial house with its peticular charm. The mattresses are firm, the rooms are clean and tastefully decorated in style, the bathrooms are spacious the breakfast is of an high quality. Alain is an attentive but unobtrusive host....

A wonderful place to stay in Swellendam. Alain was a perfect host and the inn was comfortable and cozy. He provides a marvelous breakfast and recommended the nearby De Vagebond restaurant for dinner, which was excellent. A short stay, but memorable.

After having been recommended by friends who stayed last year,we were a little disappointed with our 2 separate night stays at Braeside. Our room was small and dark without a TV(which was advertised) and away from the main house which was locked up at 8pm when we returned from our meal.,Wifi was only in the main house.

Beautiful colonial house with a lovely garden, situated in a small village. Next to the wineyards. Excellent breakfast, well prepared every morning by the owner, a really kind man who knows perfectly how to take care about his guests. Pretty and comfortable rooms. A wonderful expérience, everything was perfect !

My wife and I stayed at this guest house in February. The host Alain was very nice and hospitable. the place is very old and beautiful with lovely grounds and is within easy reach of the town. However there are no internal safes for valuables and our fridge was turned off because it made a loud noise! The room was...

Our stay here was one of the most beautiful accomondation we have been to during our South Africa journey. Besides it was an ealderly house, it was furnished and decorated so detailed and lovely that it took us in the century of the colonial time. The breakfast on the terrasse, looking into the beautiful garden with flowers left a great...

Alain's hospitality was outstanding. Soon after I arrived, we stood chatting on the terrace, entertained by his 'troop' of rare breed ducks, geese and hens, in the peace of his secluded garden. My room was very comfortable, and sensitively decorated. Breakfast was superb! Home made goodies of various sorts, and, best of all, the freshest of eggs from resident hens....
