This private nature reserve comprises of spectacular mountain fynbos with wooded streams & farm dams for paddling, swimming & fishing, hiking for outdoor enthusiasts, 100 plus species of birds, indigenous fauna & flora, as well as a large saltwater pool & rolling lawns. Escape the hustle & bustle, come explore our hidden valleys with friends & family. We offer a variety of self-catering accommodation all with outdoor braai areas & indoor fireplaces ranging from several cosy & affordable family units, to a large rambling farmhouse for larger groups & families (sleeping 25), 2 exclusive luxury units with hammocks & spa baths, & finally 10 boutique glamping tents with spectacular views, air conditioning, large decks with braais & indoor fireplaces . In total the reserve accommodates up to 100 self-catering guests onsite in 17 different units. Nightjar and Oak Cottages

Lovely 2 night get away, only 2hr drive from Cape Town. Look forward to try Africamps in winter with the snow and indoor fire place. Accommodation spotless, hot tub, braai place, shower, wifi all excellent.

Nature's paradise

This was our 2nd visit to Pat Busch as we had our honeymoon there last year and decided to spend our 1st year anniversary there as well. It's the most perfect breakaway from the city life and the entire Pat Busch team are amazing people. They really made us feel extremely welcomed and just overall hospitality is amazing. We will most definitely be making it an annual thing if not more and we will recommend this piece of paradise any day! From Gary & Charlene

Bad luck at Nightjar

We stayed for a night at Nightjar and were glad to be off the next day. At that point, water was not running in the apartments. When we checked in, the AC stopped running after a while and it couldn't be fixed. We handed our keys to the person who was going to fix it and he left the keys just at the door and was nowhere to be seen. My husband went back to check as it was quite a while and we were at the pool and didn't hear back. The keys to the card and his wallet and laptop were in the apartment which was then open for all. Reception had closed, we wrote messages but didn't hear back till much later that the AC could not be fixed. At the end, we thankfully got the cottage next door. It should just have been the first thing they could have done. Instead of not communicating with us till much later. We also understood later that the person in charge in the evenings was on leave. The cottage is close to the gate so that was not ideal we felt. It was a drive to the pool with the kids as they were still young. We met some lovely people at the dam though. The cottage is nice but you are probably better off booking one of the glamp tents from africamps.…

Dear Chewy, thank you for your review although it is very unfair and one sided, not telling the full story. So please be advised that what your review failed to mention was that we had load shedding for several hours the day that you arrived. Since we are situated deep in the mountains on a nature reserve far away from any cell phone towers or landlines, we are obliged to provide our own means of communication, water, sewerage, roads, etc. So if there is load shedding, and no electricity is available anywhere, then our wifi & internet will also not work since they all use electricity, and therefore you could not contact us after hours on the Whatsapp number. There is however a detailed map in your cottage, which clearly shows where the onsite manager's house is, and had you come to the main house we would have been happy to help you sooner than later when we finally received your messages. It is in fact the load shedding which damaged the air conditioner's capacitor and that is why it failed when the power spiked as it came back online. Unfortunately there is nothing we could have done to repair the air conditioner despite the owner of the property personally trying to repair it that night. After trying for over an hour to get the aircon working again, the only alternative was to ask you to pack all your things and move to another cottage with aircon - which we did. We also us a pressure pump to boost the water pressure for our guests' showering enjoyment, however with load shedding the booster pump does not run so unfortunately the pressure is not very high when we have no electricity, but there is still plenty of water available at about 1 bar pressure which is sufficient for all purposes. All that considered, we find it quite amusing that you chose to sit inside the cottage with all the doors and windows closed, and all the blinds & curtains drawn, on a beautiful windless summer's evening of 19 degrees, while all our other guests were braaing as was I when I received your messages, children were outside playing, guests are swimming in the pool, and everyone is enjoying the natural surroundings and the starry night sky while you are over-heating in your cottage with everything closed & sealed up? I did recommend that you should simply open a window to let some fresh cool air in as it is completely safe on the nature reserve, but you refused for reasons unknown to us. That all said and done, once load shedding was over and we had electricity again you were moved to a new cottage with aircon at no additional cost to you, so the problem was solved. Your cottage is a short walk or perhaps 250m away from the pool, any closer and you probably would have complained about all the guests having fun that evening in the warm water while you were in your cottage, so I believe the distance is just right for the privacy of our guests. As for the Africamps glamping tents, I believe your fears would have been amplified in this boutique canvas structure since a tent does not seal as well as a house does. Sincerely, Stephan Busch.

Time-out

Amazing get-away surrounded by nature. The views were spectacular. Friendly staff and warm reception. Well maintained gardens. Well recommended if you want to re-connect with yourself or loved ones. Pat Busch you were good to us.

Family Weekend Away

We had a lovely time at the Africamps. We were lucky enough to have amazing weather, lovely walks, braais. And my son enjoyed everything. The views was amazing. Excellent location Thanks for a lovely time.
