Doringbos is a lovely Cape Karoo cottage that is rustic and quirky at the same time. It is private and in a quiet part of town and this adds to the experience. Fully self catering but well equipped. There is an airconditioner in the bedroom for those who worry about heat. The stoep has a built in braai and we...

Thank you for your positive response. We do appreciate all the feedback we receive. Please do take note that the reservoir is not for swimming only for capturing water to irrigate the garden. The town is water restricted and the purpose of the dam is strictly for irrigation. We do have a pool at the cooking school that you could...

This was the 2nd time my fiance and I have been to Prince Albert and the 2nd time we've opted to stay in the extremely relaxing Doringbos Cottage. The attention to detail is superb and the location and amenities are perfect. We were met by Donovan and handed the keys as well as a Braai kit (we arrived late on...

A 'must do' place to stop at in Prince Albert ~ Doringbos is a charming self catering cottage. Everything well appointed and maintained. Set in a quiet part of the town with lovely views. Encourage a swim in the reservoir and feel like you are part of the Karoo.

Beautifully decorated cottage, private and set in small Karoo garden, complete with two "windpompe". It is fully self catering, so be sure to bring all your own food and don't expect to be faffed over by owners or staff. The isolation and privacy is what makes this special. Worth every penny.

The cottage (Akkedis), though well equipped, does not seem to be maintained. It is our second visit, but sadly, probably our last. The shower for instance, boasts a large show head. Dysfunctional thought. The fridge is old noisy, and derelict. The bath overflow does nor have a pipe, and overflows on the floor..... Lots of potential slowly slipping away...

Dear Anton Akkedis cottage was completely restored a couple of months ago by fixing the old showers in both bathrooms as well as the outlet of the bath. This lovely shepherd's cottage was also repainted and the original woodwork restored. For those that visit often, do not stress, it is still the original Karoo Brakdakkie, built 153 years ago. Akkedis...

All the cottages are very spacious and ideal for self catering due to the big kitchens which are extremely well equipped.they are spacious with use rooms and big bathrooms and tastefully decorated with a old world charm which was perfect for the location.please note though that if you are travelling as a group of friends the Akkedis- cottage is far...

We stayed in the Akkedissie house. At first glance the place is nice and homely, and so it was. There are details missing though, like the bathtub's overflow overflowing right on the floor, and although it sleeps 4 people, the cutlery and crockery varies from providing for 2 persons (red wine glasses), to enough for 3 people (knifes and forks)....

Beautifully designed and decorated cottage close to town with its own windmill right there. Best part was the hot water bottles, the great hot shower and the farm fresh milk they left in the fridge. Great fireplace although we smoked ourselves out a bit. It truly was brilliant and just perfect to experience Prince Albert.

We spent three nights in Prince Albert as the "third leg" of our five leg, three week tour of southern South Africa (Cape Town, Fransschoek, Prince Albert, Knysna and finally Kwande game reserve). I suppose Prince Albert was the "wild card" in what would otherwise have been a typical itinerary but in many ways it turned out to be the...
