Emily, the daughter of the owner told me that for them, Tripadvisor reviews are a double edge sword, with anything less than 4.5 stars being problematic. The problem of course for the reviewer is this; if a 4* establishment lives up fully to it's 4 stars, should you give it a 4* review, or a 5* review? Or to put... More

Hello from Hout Bay, thank you so much for taking your time to write such a lovely review. Just to explain the review system, our house is graded by Tourism Grading Council of South Africa with 4 stars. Eyery listed accomodation regardless if 1 or 5 star graded can archieve the full 5 points at tripavisor. This is a fair... More

This place is absolutely unique. The attention to details is 5 star. The interior design is unique and there are led lights every where providing ambient light. On arrival you are handed a mobile phone preprogrammed with all the numbers you need. The fridge is full of drink and you service your self.

We stayed at Thulani RIver Lodge during the 2010 World Cup - 3 male / 1 female. Our stay was exceptional and I promised my good lady that I would take her over to, in my opinion, the most beautiful city I have visited. We stayed at Thulani again and once again the accommodation was excellent (all rooms are themed... More

We started our trip here - and it was perfect! The hosts were friendly and helpful, the breakfast great, the house beautiful. Cape Town is of course a wonderful city, and Houts Bay a cool base if you have a car. Make sure to visit the Sunday market in Houts Bay!

Beautiful big garden with a view looking onto the mountains and very friendly hosts and staff. Clean and well maintained rooms, each individual furnished with a local African style. I will definitely be visiting again.

We travelled with our two year old and all of us loved the place. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The garden is huge. Too bad we couldn't stay longer. Our room (more like a two room appartement) in the main house was huge and terrific, breakfast exquisite. There is wi-fi in the lounge. A very good choice for... More

Only thing to complain about is the intense early morning bird chorus, including geese, but that just tells you how lovely the rural setting is, including the stream running through the grounds - and also that we had been up late at a big party down the road :) The beds was however comfy, the house was well furnished and...
