Obviously it's hard to say whether the Garden House really is the best guesthouse in all SA since we've not been to them all! However this must surely be in the running. Having stayed in 4 others during our Honeymoon in various other locations though, this was definitely the best we stayed in. We were warmly welcomed by Annette with...

Many, many thanks for this lovely review. I’m so glad your Honeymoon got off to such a flying start at The Garden House and wish you all the very best for a wonderful future. I really do appreciate your kind words. However, I did not advise against The Tasting Room. It is on our list of recommended restaurants sent to...

A great combination of welcome, comfort, helpfulness and location. A welcome drink overlooking the stunning scenery, plenty of advice on restaurants and attractions. Breakfasts were unusual and delicious. We were made to feel like old friends visiting. We shall return.

This is a home away from home. Anyone planning to be here should stay at least 3-5 days and enjoy the surroundings. We stayed 2-nights and enjoyed Annette & Barry's hospitality. A lovely couple. Get the cottage if you can, slightly more but you have privacy. Room & bathroom are generously designed and spacious. One of the best parts is...

Had a fantastic two days in Franschhoek made even better by our stay in the Garden House. We stayed in the main house room which was nice and cool with a lovely bathroom and no issues with bedspace (the bed is certainly big enough for an average couple!). The rest of the house, garden and swimming pool are superb and...

The Garden Room is splendidly appointed and complete with a magnificent bathroom. Annette and Barry were most generous and hospitable hosts. Breakfast on the stoop with splendid views of the valley made for a great start to the day. We will be back.

Barry and Annette's warm welcome was only matched by the cosiness of their home (we stayed in the room inside the house, which actually was more like a small separate apartment, with all modern confort). We really felt like part of the family and were repeatedly invited to enjoy the rest of the house and the swimming pool as if...

4th trip to see Annette & Barry and the menagerie of pets. As I have said before, a beautiful setting on the Courtyard Room under the shade of the camphor tree is idyllic (bigger than some of the specimans in the famous avenue @ Kirstenbosch). The positioning in town has a real advantage over those outside allowing guests to stroll...

We stayed in the cottage for three nights. It is spacious and has everything you could possibly need. Annette and Barry are extremely hospitable and nothing is too much trouble. The garden and views are beautiful. Can't wait to come back!

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst attending a wedding nearby. We could not have chosen a more idyllic place. Barry and Annette are not only special people but with both their attention to detail and desire to exceed their guests expectations made this an enjoyable and unforgettable stay. Thank you so much both of you, you deserve being Number 1...
