Two American over-60's couples spent four nights at Drakensberg's Giant Castle, sharing a two-bedroom chalet in the park. We enjoyed grand views, hikes, a visit to Main Cave and its San paintings. We viewed elands, including one that galloped past us (we happily yielded the path) to rejoin its group along the River Walk, and enjoyed views of baboons as...

The scenery is everything beautiful and more. We stayed in a honeymoon suite facing the river stream and the gorgeous mountains, words won't do this place justice. The hiking trails are the best I've ever seen. Don't miss trout,it's fresh and tasty. The rooms are beautiful though our towels weren't changed even after we asked the cleaning lady.

Disappointed that one can't camp in Giants Castle but the chalets are very comfortable & well equiped. If planning to self cater you need to bring your own provisions but the restaurant serves very good meals as reasonable prices. My locally caught trout was delicious and not over cooked. Breakfast was excellent and certainly recommend the mushrooms. The information given...

What a beautiful location to visit,we had a mountain view chalet, spectacular views, the chalet was well equipped ,very comfortable bed.The restaurant served good quality food, reasonably priced .if you going self catering, take your groceries with you as there is very limited supplies there and there is not a local shop to visit. To travel from the north ,I would recommend to travel...

The hotel is built with the actual mountain rock face as part of the building! As a family of climbers we spent the next few days bouldering and climbing around! The spot is great within easy walk of original bush man cave paintings. Plenty of walks to suit all abilities our group ranged in age from 7 to 85. Breakfast...

Our one night stay in a 6 bed chalet was perfect. The chalet was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Just a few small insects (appearing dead?) in the bedding - in the bush, not a problem. Many foreign visitors enjoying the exceptional beauty of the "Berg". Gardens beautifully maintained. Breakfast at the restaurant was lacking (it was a lot better...

Glorious location in the mountains, lovely walk along the river, reasonable breakfast. Inside they're comfortable and spacious (we had the three bedroom one). If you're self catering as we were, you'll need to bring all your food.

Amazing experience surrounded by some of the most majestic mountains in the world. Lucky enough to see snow on the mountains. Accommodation we stayed in was basic and slightly weathered - but neat and clean, didn't need more. The breakfast included in the rate was really good, a nice surprise!

This is beautiful part of the country and the scenery is spectacular. There are loads of walks and hiking trails. You can choose between self catering or eat at the restaurant. It also offers a bird hide that offers some amazing photo opportunities. You have to book the use of the hide before you go. You will also require a...

We drove here from near Winterton - it is a quite a long drive and some of the roads are unmade, although in good condition in dry weather. At the visitor centre you can pay a small fee as a day visitor and buy a map of day hikes in the park. We did the Berg View walk (7km and...
