Hancock is a delightful very small and historic town where the Hancock Inn is a very prominent feature. The Monadnock region is picturesque and charming to visit, either to drive around or by trekking. It contains several historic covered bridges nearby which we enjoyed looking for. Our welcome was very warm at the Inn and Mark was very helpful. Downstairs...

Thank you very much for the nice review. We are glad you enjoyed the inn and the surrounding countryside. It is, indeed, picturesque and charming. It is also uncrowded, which, this time of year, is one of the pleasures of a Monadnock Region visit, we believe. The region lacks the "vacation sprawl," as people around here describe the experience of...

I wish I could have given the Hancock Inn an excellent but a couple of annoying distractions prevented me. 1. The wifi is weak, it barely made it to our room and repeatedly had to reconnect. 2. The kitchen was under our room and they were banging around down there until 10 o'clock at night. 3. The church bell isn't...

Thank you for the nice review. We appreciate it!! As it happens, Comcast was here yesterday to replace the router because, yes indeed, we thought the WiFi service seemed to be crashing, even at the Front Desk where the signal had no excuse to be weak. It seems better now. (We have to add that after years of pursuing Comcast...

I stayed at the Hancock Inn for two nights and I could not have been more pleased. They have managed to provide all of the modern conveniences, like wifi, ac and TV, without sacrificing the look and feel of an old inn. The landscaping is equally delightful and even features a meticulously groomed croquet lawn. They serve a full delicious...

Thank you very much for the review. Glad you noticed the croquet lawn which is scheduled to start getting plenty of use this weekend with the start of our Third Annual Croquet (we call the game Croqui) Tournament, a summer long event that will feature 40 players this year! Our guests are always welcome to play - or they can...

We stayed at The Hancock Inn for three nights as part of a vintage car tour. The Inn has an extremely accommodating ownership and staff. The rooms are very comfortable with full amenities. The food is very good with breakfasts being particularly outstanding. Emphasis is on local produce (including the goat cheese produced next door). We look forward to another...

My husband I stopped here for two nights on our way back from Quebec. It was a wonderful Inn with fantastic food. The inn was quiet and relaxing. Just what we needed. We loved the little town and the scenery in the area is fantastic. The weather was cold and a bit rainy and we were still able to appreciate...

Thank you so much for the nice review. We are grateful you included us as part of your trip through New England. Yes, it's wonderful here in the winter. Of course, this past year we didn't really have a winter and we saw it in our results. The restaurant did well. Travel around town was easy as was parking. But...

Thank you so much for the generous review. We loved having you and regret only that Potter and Jeannie Anne (hope I have that right) didn't get more chances to play. Next time! Very best, Jarvis.

My husband and I do not normally stay at B&Bs because we just like to zoom in and out, but this go-round we decided to splurge since it was my birthday. I am SO glad we did! Hancock is a very tiny town..and I mean TINY. The only restaurant open was at the Inn, which they held the kitchen open...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hancock Inn is a historic property in Hancock, New Hampshire. Built in 1789, it is New Hampshire's oldest continuously operating inn. The inn has 14 rooms for overnight accommodations that are exceptionally well-appointed with period antiques and inclusive of modern amenities, such as in-room chargers, waffle-weave spa robes, flat screen televisions with built-in DVD and wifi throughout the building. Many rooms have gas or electric fireplaces. There are numerous common areas around the inn for the enjoyment of our guests, upstairs and down. The two sitting rooms on the first floor, one with with a Rumford fireplace, are hallmarks of the inn's warmth and hospitality, separating it from the usual of being away, making it feel closer to home. Outside, the inn's 1.5 acres of gardens and field (which includes a professionally maintained croquet pitch in the summer) connect visitors to the Monandock region's preserved landscape and scenery. In the winter, join countless avid snowshoers and cross country skiers and, other times, experience the lakes, rivers and trails that crisscross our corner of the world. The inn's fine dining restaurant, The Fox Tavern, is open seven nights a week. The farm-to-table menu features New England favorites relying on locally raised beef, pork and poultry, plus cheese, fruits and vegetables from area growers, including vegetables from our own gardens. The Tavern's reknowned, cooked-to-order breakfast is served complimentary to house guests. Come to the Hancock Inn and learn why it has been characterized as "the near perfect expression of the New England village inn." ... more   less
