We celebrated my wife's 40th birthday at The Exeter Inn because it is one of our favorite places in town. The food is always great and the service is excellent. Derek and Jason at the bar always go out their way to make us feel special. We had 50 guests at the birthday party.

Booked a post holiday party at The Exeter Inn in the Exeter Room for a party of about 18. Working with the coordinator was good, but the set up when we got there was not correct. The quickly offered me another room or to fix the set up to which they corrected into one large

Dear Jeffrey S, Thank you for choosing the Exeter Inn and Epoch Restaurant & Bar. We appreciate your feedback in regards to your private function. We apologize that we didn't exceed your expectations with the service or the quality of the food. We are glad that you found that duck to be outstanding. I am looking into what happened with the rest of your entrees, I can't imagine our salmon ever being referred to as average or the Short Ribs dry. I would like to invite you and three guests to come back and give us another try. Please let me know when you would like your reservation, and I will make sure that you leave understanding why our reputation is as excellent as it is. If you have any questions, or if there is anything that we can do to be of service, please let me know. Best Regards, Thomas

This is an old school building (literally) I think it belonged to Phillips Exeter Academy, and may not be leased to the hotel. The restaurant is quite good: certainly one of the best in town. The bar is also a great place to have a drink. The rooms are comfortable, but

We are so glad that you enjoyed the charm of the hotel, and we agree, Epoch is one of the best restaurants in town and on the seacoast! Great advice on booking Parent's weekend early! We tend to sell out a year in advance! Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to be of service in the future! We look forward to being your host again! Best Regards, Thomas DeSisto

Our first stay at Exeter Inn - greeted warmly by the receptionist at check in - she was eager to please - we requested a quiet room away from the elevator and indeed our room was very quiet (room 338). Our room was clean but perhaps a bit dated (as other reviews have said)

Is this a B&B?
Full breakfast was available, but not included in our rate, Fresh cookies were usually available at the front desk. I guess I might call it a boutique hotel

"If you can face the back garden that's lovely; but all rooms are great"
"Rooms off the hallways in the alcoves are quieter."
"Ask for a room on the courtyard - much quieter"
"First floor rooms are equipped with a shared door to the room suite that reduces any chatter or noise from the front desk or restaurant."
"3rd floor I have heard has slanted ceilings due to the architecture of the building. If you are tall, I recommend staying on the 2nd floor."
