Nice hideaway away from the crowds and freeway. About 18 miles from I80 and 3 miles of gravel road, but very quiet and secluded. Spent two nights here and enjoyed the solitude. Very old buildings, but nicely appointed, quite comfortable and peaceful. Breakfast prepared each morning by the owner (Mitzi) which were excellent. It is out in the country, so... More

Our Model A Club enjoyed a three day get a way here. Casual and romantic. Ver good home cooking. Several cabins to choose from. We had 18 folks and everyone loved it. Great for families and clubs. A good place for a wedding or retreat. One can bring their own food or arrange for dinners by Mitzi. This is an... More

We had no clue where we were going when we started on our way to the Old Pioneer Garden. As we traveled about an hour or so from anything in any direction, we came upon a road called "Bloody Canyon" and felt a little apprehension. Then, we pulled onto a gravel road nervously as we had already had one flat... More

Overall: We had a great experience at the Old Pioneer Inn. Though it is off the beaten path of I-80, it is well worth it. In fact, the paved road ends, and you have to use a rural road for the last miles, but don’t let that intimidate you. Once there, you’ll find a peaceful oasis. Our hosts, Mity and... More

This B&B is amazing! A perfect getaway for anyone seeking a remote private holiday at the foothills of the Buffalo Mountain. Our cabin was extremely comfortable, cozy and very clean. There are hundreds of books to suit anybody's literary tastes and classical music to add to the intimate ambience. In the morning, we were greeted by the lovely owner, Mitzi,... More

This vintage, ranch-style bed and breakfast is nestled at the base of a majestic mountain range in Unionville, NV. It features several cottages and cabins, all with their own unique character. We stayed in "The Cottage" which had two bedrooms, a living room and a full kitchen. This quaint cottage had been restored to its original character, and offers the... More

My fiancé and I stayed one night at the Old Pioneer Garden Country Inn on our way out to Sacramento on February 16, 2015. We knew that we needed to stay somewhere about 5 or so hours from Salt Lake City toward our destination and we wanted some place fun and comfortable. We arrived late (9:30pm) and David was wonderful... More

This was my second trip to Mitzi's hideaway. As my first visit went some 9 years ago, this trip was just as nice. We had the entire place to ourselves and it was just how I remembered it and just the kind of place my girlfriend wanted from our trip. Mitzi and David made sure we had everything we needed... More

This was our second stay with Mitzi and David at Old Pioneer. Their selection of homes/cottages has continued to increase and they vary from old rustic to new Western style. They are mostly quaint and comfortable. Be prepared for bugs in your room as this is very rural. The breakfasts are homemade and good, but if you stay more than... More

We have been to Unionville a number of times and recently got married in the area. The area is simply beautiful and is a must see. The Inn has so much potential, but certainly hasn't lived up to it in recent years. The various rooms are rustic, charming, and one of a kind. As others have said the rooms can... More

“Some of the cottages can accommodate a family with up to 5 bedrooms, most with private bath. Others are 2 bedroom/2 bath. All have kitchens and laundry facilities for a long stay. The new Vally House is lovely but very isolated.”

“The Valley House is the newest and by far the nicest house. If this house is not available, the field house is also a lovely 4 bed 4 bathroom house. All of the rooms are charming in their own way, furnished with lovely antiques”

“For true privacy like for honeymooners, choose a room in the cottage or the Ross house. For groups or family reunions, choose the Field House or the Hedley House.”

“Buildings, individual rooms and bed sizes vary. If you need a queen bed to be comfortable or place a special emphasis on having private space or plan to do a lot of cooking, etc., make this part of the conversation when you call and speak directly with Mitzi or Dave to make your reservation.”
